This Game Literally will Lost from Steam in The Next 2-3 years

Same with his brother, Deathgarden, all starting from developer ignorance to community, imbalance perk and treatment between survivor and killer. Definitely this game on going in his destruction.

No chance without a game, that is similar and better. They improved the game pretty much, but their pace is pretty slow.

Well I wouldn't be surprised if this game does die in 3 years. Not because I want it to, but because it will be 8 years old by then. I hope this game stays active for a long time... it's the most addicting game I've ever played despite all of its downfalls and disappointments.

I'm sure the Devs themselves never expected the game would be successful enough to last even a few years. But look at it now... it's thriving.

Honestly, if it died yesterday it would have outlived most releases

until something better is released DBD will be on top for awhile, Or until the community burns out from it.

The game is almost five years old. If for whatever reason it does die in the next two-three years, seven-eight years is a pretty good run for a $30.00 PVP only game.

Everyone kept saying this game would die in sometime. Yet the game is still breathing AND actually going stronger than ever.

The game was in even worse state than it's currently is. Bugs and unbalace crap was everywhere if the game would have died it would be back then not when the game is in its best condition yet. By the way game is now 30k+ players :)

Ultima online is still going, 23 years old. There's no reason to ever make dbd 2, they won't be able to get all these cool licenses again (I'm assuming) and it would sort of destroy the community. They can keep updating the graphics, tweak the gameplay etc. Worst case rebuild it from the ground up as an update and everyone saves their progress. As messed up and buggy as this game is, there is obviously a reason we all play it too much, and why games that should be contenders to it like re resistance or predator or f13th, aren't able to compete at all. Dbd has a rare cool factor that's hard to duplicate.

Deathgarden was a pretty good game, the developers of that game actually listened to the community. The problem was that no one was going to pay 10 dollars or more for a game that you won't know how much would last. I think it would've been more succesful if they released it free, but here we go... (and i'm one of those people that payed 10$ for the game).

The reason why the game is still alive is that most people come for the game licenses, in the next few years it will surely continue alive if we have iconic characters like Jill Valentine, Nemesis, etc. The next competitor of dbd will undoubtedly be the video game that Kane Hodder is working on in the F13 style.

Evolve Stage 2 "might" have been a competitor if 2k hadn't pulled the plug :(

I wonder. When they were making Deathgarden were they hoping that game would take off so they could be done with DBD?

I think things will start to get interesting. While there's currently nothing quite like DbD, Phasmaphobia is seeing lots of play and other horror multiplayer games are spawning based on it's success. It would not surprise me if this "niche" market is being eyeballed and considered by other developers.

Honestly, with the licensed killers... and if they can finally push out proper updates to refresh outdated mechanics... it can last another 5+

Well people have been saying that since at least year 1, and some people's reasoning was the same as yours.

Someday you'll be right i guess, most multiplayer-only games will die someday.

I felt like the DG devs did listen to the community. The execution though... were not on the mark, but they did try. Like the crate surfing Dash problem. Instead of nerfing his perk that let him interact with crates faster, they just nerfed his sprint speed boost for some reason.

But if there's one thing i wont forget is how they refused to take a club to that over bloated inquisitor and instead buffing him with seemingly every chance they got.

Counterstrike 1.6 is still played today. That's a game that is over 20 years old. And that's with stiff competition. And it has more players than a lot of other multiplayer games. It has more people playing than Killing Floor 2, Deep Rock Galactic, or Left 4 Dead.

DBD isn't going away just because it's 8 years old, or even 10 years old. It's the only game of its kind that is still alive with any kind of decent playerbase. Even if competition tried to come up they won't amount to much -- there are like a dozen games that tried but all failed.

While there are people who leave, most of them return to play.

The number of new players to DBD greatly outweighs the number of players permanently leaving.

    2 words... Mortal Kombat

Even as a 1v1 fighter, that franchise has been going strong for almost 30 years.

Dead by Daylight isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

Is this what a dying game looks like? Asking for a friend.
