What maps make you go full-on "Forget it!" when playing Killer?

What maps make you go full-on bananas when you see yourself there playing any or a specific Killer? Heck, while we are at it, let's also ask the survivors what maps make you mad?

For me, it is pretty much any map that can be considered the size of a football stadium. Any map that forces you to forget about pressuring gens and just focusing on tunneling if you dream of even having the slightest chance at winning. Unless you are Demigorgon or Hillbilly who can travel across the map within seconds, there is nothing you can do in these maps but hope that the survivors don't know what they are doing.

For me its kinda more about what the survivors do. If they rush gens I'll be like forget it I'm gonna force this guy to struggle or I'm gonna camp this guy till death since I don't think I can win by leaving the hook.

Map's will make me cry a little inside when there's a bunch of f u pallets or a setup that makes the survivor invincible.

Yamaoka and Ormond. It's impossible to see anything on Yamaoka. And I'm still trying to figure out how to chase the tight way around those maze tiles on Ormond

I know many people swear by Rotten Fields, but the Swamp and the Stranger Things map are absolutely the worst.

The Swamp is a Blendette's paradise, and seeing how she's a very popular character in my region (Brazil) that just makes it even worse. Yeah, corn makes it hard to chase but at least the map is lit up as #########. Swamp is very dark, big, with lots of cover for survivors and stupid jungle gyms.

Research Lab is a giant jungle gym on itself with absolutely boring thematic and design. It's claustrophobic, navigation is confusing and generators are somehow harder to defend in this map than in other larger indoor maps.

    As a Killer I hate the Swamp(s).

As a Survivor I hate Autohaven. Not that the map design is bad, I just feel like I am being sent there CONSTANTLY.

As both Killer AND Survivor adding Midwich to the game was a mistake.

I usually play Blight so whenever I see a corn map, or Lery's I'm pretty much just accepting defeat at that point. Corn maps for obvious reasons: Blight can't even see over a ledge, never mind the corn and Lery's because every damn box seems to have a mile wide radius that I manage to hit whenever I try rush past them

Almost any Killer on Haddonfield, Nurse on Lery's.

Playing as a Survivor on these servers in general is rough, because I often get paired with people several ranks lower than me who die and feed quickly ruining my games.

The thing what survivors most of the time will do on the lab map, is that they start going for the furthest gens on the map.

I don't bother to much with those gens, especially not the one on top at the portal room, they can have that one for free.

If they aren't dead by then, than It will become interesting as they now need to do gens on the middle part, and thus they can be chased of easily.

The only map I don't like to go on as killer is any corn maps.

To much places to lose the survivors in.

I mostly play on sounds during a chase in the corn till I can see them.

As killer, Haddonfield, Springwood, Yamaoka, Coldwind depending on the killer I'm playing (Nurse and Legion are tough in there).

As survivor I also hate Haddonfield, Springwood, and also all indoor maps except Silent Hill. I know Haddonfield is good for survivors but I still hate it (plus I never run Balanced Landing so yeah).

Kinda unrelated but with my SWF group we usually do this fun lil thing we jokingly call Russian Roulette in which we burn four different map offerings: three maps we dislike and one we like. Most times we are sent to goddamn awful maps like indoor maps, but when we are actually sent to the one map we actually like it's awesome. It's also kinda subjective because we don't completely agree on which ones are awful maps and which one is not, so maybe I'm just happy we got sent to Silent Hill instead of Haddonfield while the rest of my friends are whining about it lmao.

Anyone but Trapper on Haddonfield is a nightmare for me!

If basement isn't in the treatment facility on Lery's my game is basically over, it becoems too difficult to zone with Trapper, at least at my skill level :((

Corn maps are really really annoying when im playing wraith or PH (especially, as they can see my massive triangle but I can not track them for the life of me!), and its too difficult to track through corn as wraith even with windstorm.

Oni on Haddonfield, if the first chase is a long one it's basically a loss. Basically anyone on Haddonfield tbh, Huntress is slightly bearable since you can threaten balconies with hatchets.

Any killer on Mothers Dwelling, just feels too big and too many pallets, difficult against any team which is not primarily potato.

The Game, especially as Trapper. Already limited for where he can put traps and the pics of the rework make me dread it even more once it goes live. 😔 Not a fan of that map as survivor when I go against a Doctor, Nurse, or Freddy.

    The game as Myers.

I don't mind playing on the maps really, but what bothers me is that the newer remade ones lag and freeze for me. Which sucks because they look so nice.

My PC can barely handle the game and the new redone maps just freeze and lag and I end up not doing much if I don't outright get kicked out of the match. If I try to do a gen alone, it's not so bad, but if I try to do a gen with someone, my game freezes and I just miss skill checks. I stick to trying to do totems and maybe destroy hooks instead.

So with them being redone, the maps I hate the most are the Springwood and Yamaoka ones, sadly.

I don't find that any are hard to play on design wise, but I am not a serious Killer player and I die a lot as Survivor regardless of the map xD

Really? I find the game as Trappy boi quite fun, if you luck out and brought tar bottle, the downstairs area is gonna be a breeze for you as long as you dont forget to watch your step while carrying someone, i've fallen victim to my own cunning too many times on that map!

  • Todgeweiht

I absolutely hate swamp maps, they are so annoying to traverse.

  • bm33
    bm33 Member Posts: 8,235

That's the problem, you NEED to bring tar bottle for that map otherwise hope you have a team of survivors that are completely oblivious to traps. You have limited areas to set the traps to actually be of any use, and unless the survivors are new they're going to know those spots to disarm/avoid the trap.

  • edgarpoop
    edgarpoop Member Posts: 8,365

The gameplay on indoor maps is really bad in my opinion. There's a lack of engagement with other players due to constant LOS blocks. They're an absolute pain to traverse.

    Also, delete the Badham series.

That's the thing about a lot of maps though, you either need to get lucky with clipping and grass (which they are shadow nerfing evan with by removing more and more foliage with graphics updates) when placing traps or hope to get really oblivious survivors! I often like to snowball with basement though so tar bottle is a complete and absolute must for me, those stairs become easy mode!

  • FFirebrandd
    FFirebrandd Member Posts: 2,445

It depends on who I am.

If I'm on a medium/short killer, Swamp is miserable because I'll be eating swamp grass all game. Similar problem with new Autohaven... the ground is super bright but the walls are mostly super dark. So unless you're looking down at the Survivors, it seems like you are chasing shadows.

If I'm on Huntress I really really don't want to see Hawkins.

If I'm on Myers or Ghostface on Ormond... I mean that's just super unfortunate. New Ormond is much more open and wearing all black sticks out like a sore thumb against all that snow.

Midwich is terrible on any Killer who isn't stealthy or maybe Blight.

    Dennis_van_eijk Member Posts: 1,704

Try running all seeing - blood - on wraith.

Trust me, even blendettes will start hating you 😬😂

That add on is so much fun when going against a blendette squat, no hiding anymore for them 😜

Unfortunately that is because mother's dwelling is the biggest map in dbd.

It is hard to pressure gens over there, not impossible but just very hard

  • bm33
    bm33 Member Posts: 8,235

I'm not happy about the lack of grass on the new maps. It's wicked annoying that the face of Dead by Daylight keeps getting screwed over by the graphics updates. 😒 They need to make tar bottle and carrying extra traps base kit for him.

I hate a lot of maps in this game, but one map that pissed me off as both roles is Dead Dawg Saloon. I just really hate that map, more so as killer, but I still I hate it as survivor.

  • Chchchcheryl
    Chchchcheryl Member Posts: 1,531

I think tar bottle should stay an addon, but logwood dye for sure should be basekit! Alternatively tar bottle just becomes a trap camoflague kit and it 'considerably' blends into the floor and surroundings, actually making trapper maybe slightly more balanced!

At this point I think they should rework his ability and addons, keep the bear traps, but they need to fix the fact that he's the only killer that wastes their own time getting their power, letting alone setting it up (I've lost due to a couple of missing traps I needed because my snowball started too early and I had no time to go and get them!)

Even if they dont rework that, brown bag for sure should be basekit! He needs an addon that completely change his playstyle, just like a dream pallet Freddy or a scratched mirror myers! He has no variation and most trappers are just cut and dry look at this obligatory trap I put here for you to disarm because it doesnt blend in and even if you did step on it im too far away collecting my power to do anything!

  • I've had thoughts on trapper for a while now: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/217168/give-trapper-some-qol-changes-buffs-please#latest

I like the killer but he has more weaknesses than like any other killer in the game; there is an entire mechanic that does nothing but screw with him and give you slight chances at an unhook for god's sake lol.

  • Chchchcheryl
    Chchchcheryl Member Posts: 1,531

Yup i absolutely adore him but he is one of the worst killers in the game, even Otzdarva, one of the best Trapper players and a Trapper main (i believe), places him in the lowest tier, a whole tier lower than Legion as well

I'll give that a read now

No problem, I played wraith quite a lot and he is really fun.

This is mostly the build I use, depanding on what and how many items the survivors bring, I switch franklins and sloppy around and shadow born was for the rift challenge and that is always nurses.

So pop, nurses, bbq, and sloppy or franklins. 😉

Coldwind maps, especially Torment Creek and Fractured Cowshed. There are so, so many safe pallets where the most reliable and best move at any of them is to just loop, kick pallet, etc. God forbid they get good tile spawns and can chain tiles.

Midwich is also a terrible buttcheeks map. I don't know which map designer thought "Long circular hallway with pallets in every room" was a good idea, but it wasn't. It just means you have to hold w for an inordinate amount of time before even getting into chase, then end up having to play a tile with a breakable wall.

  • Skullgrind
    Skullgrind Member Posts: 118

Autohaven. Especially as a Trapper. You can see all traps easily and the only place you can kind of hold down is killer shack which is boring AF for everyone.

  • Chchchcheryl
    Chchchcheryl Member Posts: 1,531

I find logwood dye to be quite optimal as a general purpose, it doesn't hide it as well as tar on darker maps but it also means if you get a map like ormond you can trap the main building and shack without a problem

Also I find random traps always get me further on autohaven, bloody coil and an autohaven offering is great when you dont wanna try too hard!

  • Skullgrind
    Skullgrind Member Posts: 118

Yeah I love having to run a bag, and a dye, and go pick up all my powers, just to give the survivors BP for disabling my traps then tbagging.
