Cant believe im saying this but tunneling is always the right choice
Now here is where it's contradictory. Tunneling is scummy as hell to me if you don't NEED to do it. So end game is where you need to go all out but also beginning. If you dont like to tunnel you dont have to just down the unhooked and eat the ds as soon as possible if they Don't have it drop them. Slugging will add almost if not more pressure than a hook and if they have unbreakable that means they wasted it and it doesn't affect tbe game so dont try and say that. And once you have two ds gone maybe you lose a gen from.that but if you can down and redown two survivors from one gen or almost a gen youre obviously doing good. So now lets look at it logically. Say I am on rancid abbotoir against an average red rank swf. Not too good at looping but enough to waste time and know how to do gens. Abbotoir has a really mean set up at kille shack with meat tree and some other loops that are really strong.
Now there is a Dwight, nea, jake and Claudette. Eat ds early force, unbreakable early and dont camp. Now lets say no shrouds, so you spawn by harvester so go to killer shack gen and find 2 people. Now 2 people cant do that gen why 2 others are doing whatever and 1 is being chased on shack. You get maybe 1 or even 2 initial hits on them 1 being most probable so you chase them. They leave towards harvester direction to a jungle gym. Loop it correct with moonwalk yada yada and now you got a down in maybe 30 seconds maybe a gen pops because of 2 survivor or 2 gens halfway done because the 30 second chase and the walking whatever. But that other survivor goes to killer shack again so you go that direction with pop or whatever and now you chase that one. One person leaves their gen and this survivor goes down faster or a bit slower hook them and go back to the unhook. See the injured person and down them. No ds so you drop them instead of hooking because you don't want to be a dick.
As the other cycles to the other hook while that last survivor pops the first gen and starts to work on another one or the other halfway done one. So you down the recently saved one in another 20 seconds maybe they got to a pallet or their teammate took a hit. So you eat ds and boom its fone and one person doesn't have ds. So now that survivor left to the gen he was on while its about to be finished or thw other survivor went to heal the slugged one. The ds guy runs away expecting a tunnel.
So if you look at this scenario you realize not everything is perfect I didnt account for lapse of skill or perks. So if you respond with oh what if they have dead hard or bt or whatever you are just trying to find out why what im sayimg can't work when others have done this and ive done this. Ok anyways I digress, so now 3 people maybe even 4 aren't doing anything. 1 gen gone and another is now popped if not close to it.
So instead of looking at the multitudes of scenarios where you go back to the picked up slug or patrol generators or go to rhe gen almost done, lets look at the opportunities for pressure. 2 people are available to tunnel at ANY point. So say you end up getting looped bad and multiple gens pop now you for 1 left and just hooked the one without ds. And you go after girl who used it. You down and hook her as the other girl gets unhooked so you tunnel her. Dead. Expand pressure interrupt a gen down that survivor or whatever you do. Now the other girl get unhooked and you can tunnel her go after the person who saved. Maybe the last gen pops and they have adrenaline you still can chase them and down them. You either risk the 2 man escape and find the other or maybe you have bbq or maybe they leave. You can still end with a 3k unless you play bad and even rarely get a 4k.
So I believe I went over this very detailed. I showed how lack of pressure to gens can affect the match, I avoided too much detail but I even showed the effects of getting looped bad. So its up to you guys on whether you take this as advice or dismiss it. But all I have to say is you are NOT entitled to a 4km a 3k is still a win. Maybe some people ha unbreakable, who knows but if you waste their perks you win. If you decide to actually hook anyone who you find doesn't have ds you now have an extremely easy match which I think is for bad killers but I dont blame you. And not every game does everyone have ds and most matches I play dont even have unbreakable and ds and unbreakable is even more rare. So if you always act scared you end up causing your own demise. Average killers aren't that good and get looped by people who know what they are doing so they feel forced to tunnel. I rarely tunnel and usually 4k with oni, who I main. And average survivors can't loop good and the only reason they loop people is because killers arent good either. A group I played with recently they werw red rank but werent very good at looping. They looped killers on public matches and when I go against them they couldnt loop at all. Dont always blame your loss on others or perks. Your skill matters.

As I said its only a small bit of what you can do and the over arching thing was to tunnel 2 people and either actually hook them or leave them once you either get rid of ds or find our if they dont have it. This set of events means that the pressure you put. Will be enough to prevent a game break and that depends on skills of all players. This was just idk to convey an example of something you could replicate to win against ds. I dont know if i explained that well enough to you so if you need explanation do say so

Yet again this isnt to advocate tunneling or to disavow it. Thats why I said it can be contradictory. Its up to YOU what you do but if you do it 2 times in the beginning you can set yourself up for a win.

So you have a survivor who can loop you for 2-3 minutes before going down and you think the best strat is to pick him up and see if he has ds?

At that point you probably only have like 1 gen left so you might as well commit. Then try and camp out a 2k during EGC.

Yep, why should anyone wanting to play a game with others have to follow any basic rules, norms or sportsmen like courtesy?
To the OP: Tunneling is about the only real choice Killers have, which is the problem. As the game currently stands, if a Killer has the opportunity to tunnel, they're in a good position most of the time. Choosing to go after a different survivor (either to avoid DS or to be a Sport) diminishes their advantage by reducing their pressure. The only way to really change that is to offer more perks that make it advantageous to split your focus (Fresh Meat: Gain a burst of MS after entering Bloodlust. You enter bloodlust 50% faster when not chasing your obsession. Hooking a survivor makes them your obsession) or to change how basic mechanisms work (Bloodlust: 5 seconds after a survivor is unhooked, you immediately enter Bloodlust 1 when chasing a healthy survivor).

Strategically speaking, eliminating survivors out of the trial as quick as possible is the most efficient way to apply pressure, especially if you play a killer that excels in ending chases quickly (Nurse, Spirit, Deathslinger, Freddy) and can make DS a wasted perk slot. A 3/4-gen-strategy (which is always your way to go against a competent team) is undefendable against 4 survivors. As a side note, there is absolutely no reason for killers not to play optimally (tunneling/slugging/patrolling/hook intercepting) if the survivor-meta foresees the exploitation of ridiculous perk combinations like DS+UB and broken perks that shouldn't even be in the game like Dead Hard.

Some survivors just asking to be tunneled when they bodyblock their rescuer with BT thinking it makes them invulnerable. It's always surprising. I'm trying to be nice and focus on another guy, but unhooked one wants my attention again for some reason.

Not a lot of times. Only if you deside to tunnel a good looper.
If killer will tunnel survivor out of the game at 4 gens remaining, it's an easy win for him. Someone would say it's a good strategy, someone would say it's a miserable victory. But it's definitely not fun for survivors.

I don't really care if the killer tunnels me. If you don't like tunnel, then use DS and unbreakable. Easy. If you had already equipped yourself with anti-tunneling perks and are still bitching about tunneling, then I think you are just being crybaby.
In fact, tunneling is a legitimate strategy in competitive match or tournament. Whether you get a first kill by 2 remaining gen can change the whole mechanics of the game and it decides whether you can get 4k or not. Usually I don't give a ######### about 4k because I just wanna chill and enjoy the fun chase.

It depends on what you are trying to do. Tunneling out a 4v1 into a 3v1 as rapidly as possible to make sure the Survivors are playing from behind the Eight Ball is a valid strategy simply to end up with a 3K+ but it won't necessarily maximize your score in Emblems or BP. Don't get me wrong. I think camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are all valid tactics. I just think they are special use, depending on the match. I'm not sure it is as straightforward, black and white as you are painting it. If you really are committed to this route of play, you should make use of the Mori. I'm sure you (like most of us) have a ton of these overpriced paperweights left. If you truly believe your logic, you should:
- Take a Mori (Green or Red will do).
- Hook 1st Survivor.
- Camp lightly, i.e. just enough to let people come in and you chase them off, playing keep away. This has the added benefit of taking at least 1+ more Survivors off Generators. If you lightly camp with a series of short patrols, someone will attempt to make the rescue. You might even get more than one as they see you chasing the first would-be rescuer away.
- Allow the rescue once the hooked has gone to 2nd Stage.
- Tunnel and Mori them. You now get the benefit of no DS as well.
Do you see my point? This method is far more efficient and will maintain some Generator pressure at the same time. Once you have it at a 3v1, depending on if (and how many) Generators came up, you can play rather casually. Before anyone gets all in an uproar, I'm not advocating this type of play. I'm pretty neutral, and don't care how people choose their tactics as long as they are legal. There is no reason to over-complicate the subject; if you are simply talking about reducing the game from a 4v1 to a 3v1 while maintaining maximum pressure, this is the more efficient route as you tie up more Survivors, and only have to tunnel off the first hook once.

Yet again I said only to check for ds and then you can let them go or not that it's up to you. I would let them go if they didnt have it and probably go to someone else anyways unless I'm losing gens too fast or they were teabagging

I was quoting someone else? I agree, tunneling is almost always the best choice. Camping is throwing sometimes but tunneling is always a solid strategy unless the survivor is very good. Eat the DS and tunnel them out.
When I am playing a stealth killer and get DSd I almost always just sit at the hook until they are rescued and murder them the second they get off.

Yeah no I am not that pathetic. I dont even play this way. I go 12 hooks unless forced not to or I get mad. I've lost games because I dont like slugging or tunneling all the time. I picked this map because it's small and has good loops. I had certain scenarios that matched up, some quick downs on easier loops a long chase for a survivor using the harder loops and the going back to hook is because the way I pictured the hooks in my head were closer together. The hotspot for hooks is usually around killer shack whenever I play. So to me this scenario was assuming people were downed in the stronger part of the map.

I guess my opening statement about what I was actually saying being contradictory went over your head. Good job want some textbooks? No it's always right to tunnel in the beginning to get the scenario i stated and at end game. Anything else is up to the player. Just because my title didnt reveal everything does not mean it speaks everything.

Slippery slope my friend. One can tunnel every Survivor and still get 12 hooks. :) There is no difference between the cause and effect of what you are talking about and what I point out about the Mori method to achieve the same end. The intent is to reduce the opposing team to a 3v1 so their odds of being able to get enough Generators done in time is significantly reduced. The intent is the same. The application is the same (one is merely more efficient). One is no less pathetic than the other. It is a tactic, no more and no less. One way is just easier to hide what you are doing, while the other is more honest (along with efficient).
