Map RNG Is A Detriment To DBD, Not A Benefit

Random map generation is a detriment to Dead by Daylight, not a benefit.

The random generation of tiles and pallets vary greatly, sometimes being the determining factor in which side wins the match. Some maps have huge dead zones with minimal pallets and weak tiles, while others are huge with strong pallets and tiles linked together.

This unneeded aspect of the game also hurts DBD's balance and tournament potential, as there are too many random factors which can swing the balance of the game in either direction.

Fixed maps would not only be easier to develop and balance, but also easier to assess, and would push the game one step closer towards a viable tournament scene.

Agreed. Theres a few mechanics that still exist that were designed back in the early days. Heck, map RNG is a holdover from when their were 2 realms total. It has no reason to exist now. And it can be the cause of a game where in an entire junkyard, there's 8 pallets, 3 of which are unsafe and 7 of which are on one side of the map.

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to find a pallet or window when you're being chased and there's just nothing because RNG decided to be that way. Other times I feel bad because there's tile after tile after tile with disgusting setups (jungle gym facing pallet loop facing shack).

Weirdly enough, that map RNG is what made WoO and Zanshin Tactics worth using in high ranks. Otherwise experienced players will just memorize where pallets and windows are.

They could also make the map RNG better, instead of just removing it, if they so desired. Give tiles different values, and have the map spawn between X and Y value. Wouldn't be that hard on a technical level, just would need a fair bit of design tweaking

I'm going to disagree here. This is a horror game. One aspect of horror is facing the unknown. The adrenaline of having to make snap decisions, or guesses that sometimes don't pay off adds to the enjoyment and replay of the game. If the games had no RNG to them, then you could get a team of people together and create the optimal plan. At that point it becomes a team strategy game and not a horror game.

Agree completely. I also don't like the fact you can load onto certain maps and think hey this is going to be an easy one and others oh god well I'll just try my best and see what happens.

That's good. Zanshin and Windows are basically useless outside of indoor maps and with the suggestion that indoor maps will become more open, those would be perks that would be only useful to new players.
