Why should I rank up?

I'm serious with this, it's a real question. Why should I rank up? On Red ranks I get bullied into oblivion and only see the same perks over and over again. On low ranks I can play Relaxed and it's actually fun. I know there will be rank rewards in the next update but... 250k? I earn that in a few games. Are they any real benefits for sweating so hard to play on rEd RaNkS?

To challenge yourself and enjoy getting better at the game. If you just want to mess around, then you should be able to play a non-ranked game mode

but this will split the playerbase!! :(

True, remember how when all those popular games added game modes and the playerbase was split and the game died in a week? oh right that didn't happen.

    There is absolutely no point.

I've basically been on a constant back and forth between ranks 7 and 9. The difference is truly astonishing in the average rank team you see between green and purple ranks.

Sure staying in the green ranks is fun but you get tired of 4k'ing potatoes after a while. If you get really good in these ranks then you will just be learning bad habits (taking long chases, not zoning survivors), and as soon as you come against an efficient team (not necessarily even a "tournament swf", but efficient solos or 2-man) you will get demolished.

Depends which role you are playing. Playing killer past yellow ranks your likely to get red ranks most games anyway so it honestly doesn't make much difference. Playing survivor the killer is usually harder to beat unless matchmaking screws them over but generally teammates are usually better you do get some potatoes but less than at low ranks. Besides I've had a break from the game before and come back after rank reset at yellow ranks and honestly watching a meg urban evade around the sides of the map when the killer is no where near them or seeing a Dwight waste god pallet after he got hit on the opposite end of the shack is honestly hurts my soul 😂

I haven't cared about rank since I got the Rank 1 achievements for both sides. I like getting achievements, so that was motivation for me for a bit anyway. If you feel the same, that could be a motifvation. Otherwise I don't think see why you should bother grinding for red rank unless it's something you specifically want to do for some reason or another. It doesn't give you anything special, and personally 250k BPs isn't going to make me care more. I'm just going to play when I want to and get where I get.

Well everyone plays differently. Some people like you find the low ranks more fun cause you don't care about rank/getting better/you can just take it easy there. And you're talking from the killer perspective. Which, yea at low ranks, its less frustrating. But its the opposite for survivors.

Personally, I want to go against good competition, have decent teammates, and strive to get better. That usually means getting to high rank.

I also don't think 250k is anything, esp when the resets will send us back to 20 to do it all over again and again. People use the argument of 'well you got to r1 before, now you're at least getting rewarded for it' yes but the reward is awful for the amount of time/effort. Coulda given us shards or exclusive cosmetic/extremely rare charm, or even some auric cells, nothing crazy but any of these would be better than a mediocre amount of BP.

Once rank rewards are added rank will no longer be used for matchmaking, MMR will be used instead.

Although, rank doesn't matter, just play the game and stop thinking about rank. Literally just stop looking at the pip screen in end game lobby, I skip right over it and go straight to the perks/scores.

For Survivor: To slightly increase your chances of getting decent teammates (it won't take effect while you're in a 4-man swf)

For Killer: To moderately increase your chances of getting balanced matches against good Survivor.

As a solo q survivor, I rank up so I can have some decent shot at escaping and playing a good game.

Teammates purple or lower are just terribly unreliable. They are in red ranks too, but not as much.

Right now, being in the higher ranks as survivor is better than being stuck with Rank 20's (No offense to any of them). I find a lot of the newer players will literally hide or just outright not do objectives if they even think the killer could be close by, and it's a nightmare to deal with. As Killer, it doesn't seem to matter what rank you are since you get rainbow ranks most of the time anyway. So it's down to preference really. Personally, I like to stay in the middle for both roles.

That's just the reward for now doesn't mean it will stay that way forever. I personally at this point don't care about rank and I am currently leveling up some killers that I am sub par with (IMO) and at first I kept going back and forth between red and purple. Red was smacking me it was a mix of my experience with these killers and the experience of the survivors and purple was the exact opposite. Amazing the difference I was having between ranks 4 and 5. Now I am almost rank 2 even with these killers that I don't prefer or am not great with so I agree the tougher opponents have helped tremendously even though getting smacked and taunted can be demoralizing at times. plenty of times I wished I had my trapper, freddy, or demo/hag deal with the d***bags. Even had a daily with my lvl 15 pig last night (pretige recently) and won both with the 4 best GREEN perks I felt I had (BBQ, Surveillance, Blood Favor, I'm all Ears) ngl Blood favor was really fun but didn't last long crappy totem spawn. Point is rank don't matter but the higher you are the better you will become.

In low ranks you are the one doing the bullying. Why its relaxing.

Not telly you to torture yourself in red ranks. Just giving some perspective.

Once the new system comes in for rank reset I'm giving up on ranking. It took me 3 months the first time to get to Rank 1 since I had school and now I still have school because college and it's much easier to jump 4 ranks in a month verses 20 in a month. Not to mention that the reward isn't very good cuz I can get that in like 2-4 rounds (depending on what sort of point offerings are brought).
