DS Isn't Broken
As a killer main, seeing "DS is Broken" and "Nerf DS" makes me shake my head and mourne that so many of my fellow Killers are tunnelers.
As Ohtofu would say, this might be a bit of a hot take, but honestly DS is a trash perk from the Survivor's point of view. Think about it: if you're good enough to get consistent downs without tunneling, you will NEVER encounter this perk.
Seriously if you don't tunnel, its like taking away a whole survivor perk. Just a useless empty slot.

If DS procs you win.
If DS doesn't proc you won the match.
If it doesn't proc and you still lost ya'll either played very badly or we're simply outclassed in terms of skill.
IE, DS is a win/win scenario.
DS goes way past an anti-tunnel perk. All the community of high hour/high rank on both sides knows this.
DS is anti-momentum in a balance where momentum is how you win when it's good vs good players.

This is basically the description for nearly everything ppl consider op in the game. From unbreakable, to OoO, to Freddie to ruin + undying.
Although broken has a different connotation to it. It's arguable that DS is broken in the same way nurse is. It messes with the normal flow of the game by providing too big of a safety net.

DS prevents tunneling? True. But what do you do about survivors who WANTS to get tunneled and hit you with a DS? They can force a hook/gen grab or go inside a locker for immunity while working on their objective without healing. They can just body block you while you are on another survivor and just get up with UB while the other two work on gens and the person you were chasing will be long gone.
I understand that DS is needed. But this version is just overkill and easily abused

I guess you just eat the DS and never worry about it from that Survivor again? If they do that, they're basically giving you their perk. When thats done you can easily catch up again and punish them for it. That little victory is awful puny when you're getting your chest caved in by the entity two minutes later.

If you're truly downing Survivors as quickly as you say, then get DSed, then what's stopping you from doing it again, or just slugging for that matter? Theres no reason that Survivor's running it should doom your match.

Finally... (Clap, Clap, Clap) about time a killer realizes how DS is not op and doesn’t need a nerf. So many killers, specifically tunnelers believe it’s a busted perk yet they fail to realize that it’s a 5 second stun, let me repeat that, 5 SECONDS only and it’s a one time use, not 2, not 3, but 1. Yes, many killers will argue saying “yes, but they’ll go to another loop etc.” but that’s YOUR fault if you continue to allow yourself to chase them. If you’re eating DS early game you shouldn’t be complaining, end game is a different story but this is overall.

Then if the perk sucks when killers doesnt tunnel why dont people agree to remove the ability to use ds when you are on a gen.
A killer cant be a tunneler when hé defends the generators, survivors that think otherwise are just being entitled.
Also if we are going to add youtubers in the conversation: Otz also hates this perk for reasons that are facts.

Decisive Strike can absolutely hurt you if you are not tunneling. The forums have been over this. Reddit has been over this. Youtube has been over this. Stop spreading this lie.

The fact that other people use DS all the time actually does work out great for me. As long as there's an obsession in a match, I know when I'm unhooked, I have a chance to recover and continue playing, even if I get slugged. Sometimes I just take it off and let it ride.

Momentum is easy to gain though. A little patience goes a long way, especially if you run a three-genny build like yours truly.

"Oh wow, they have something useful! That's OP!" You know what else are useful? Killer powers and perks. All I've come to learn from you guys is that too many Killers expect easy wins in a game centered around countering and outplaying your opponent.

Here's the thing, though. Killers can easily ignore the whole "I have an obsession" thing and play however they want. Especially if they have their own obsession perk, they might as well. Like, it's completely up to them if they want to risk eating a DS or wanna back off. For instance, I had a match with a Doctor earlier where two players had DS. He didn't know which. He still decided to tunnel me down, even though I wasn't one of those two players. I couldn't do anything about it. I died when only one other person had been hooked, and she only got hooked trying to get me down.
If killers still want to do that, they can take the risk of me stabbing them. In fact, they probably deserve it. I'm not gonna shake my ass at them right after I'm unhooked just to stab them, but the discouragement from them being rude and cutting my match short is too good to pass up.

I have faced the DS/unbreakable combo many times, never once has it cost me the match. It sounds to me like you're just a salty player.

This doesn't take into account that there can be 4 DS's in a match and the time it takes to regain the lost momentum.

Ive said it in this discussion several times but it seems I cant say it enough. 1:Dont tunnel. 2: if it cant be avoided, either A:Slug em, or B: Eat it so they can use it again and move on with your day. It is that easy.

Heres the thing though. I never eat all 4 DS. I never end up hitting the same guy in quick enough succession and yet I still get consistent downs and hooks.

Didnt you say that you have no problem gaining momentum and getting hooks really quick before DS comes into play? If thats true, then you should be getting early game DS eats left and right. Yum!
Slugging IS a valid tactic to counter DS. Really REALLY think about it. Even with Unbreakable (again, a perk only used once per match and never again), for the remainder of them being on the ground, thats one less person working on gens, which only helps you slow down more.
Also tunneling is going after the same person way too close together. Thats how DS happens. So if they're the only person you see- again, SLUUUUUUG!

That's not really gaining momentum. Don't get me wrong 3 gen builds are strong but they don't rely on building momentum to stall the game. They rely on stalling the game through proximity of the gens, until either the survivors overwhelm the killer or they get so bored/make a mistake that the killer wins. It essentially causes a stalemate. DS would have little to no effect in that case cuz there's no momentum to lose, unless it happens to trigger at an inopportune time.
Honestly, if all killers started doing 3 genning i'd quit dbd completely. Even if my solo queue teammates knows how to counter a 3 gen, it takes so long to beat. Who am I kidding. Solo queue can't even deal with ruin let alone a 3 gen. I assume killers hate doing it too cuz it takes so long to get results even compared to face camping.

Just like I don't mind killers using BBQ to get more BP and get an idea of where their next target is, but that's not what it's always used for and it affects survivors who aren't trying to be [BAD WORD] or do anything but play their role. Seems we both have issues with perks being misused.

Some people need to learn to pick their battles. What's the point on arguing with John or Lisa about balance issues on a game they probably spent less than 300 hours playing it, don't care about the competitive aspect to it and don't even play both sides. They have the whole thing figure it out already. Why are you bothering?

DS isn't anti tunnel, its 60 seconds of immunity, while allowing you to still work on gens, get healed, or even hide in a locker.

Man lemme tell ya, after hooking another survivor and finding another survivor looking goofy and throwing the whole game out and I grab them when they are unhooking a survivor and I get stabbed in my butt by DS, I don't think I tunneled
Its anti-momentum, which isn't the healthiest perk option for the game however its powerful enough to be a threat before its even active

Your view on DS and 'tunneling' is very narrow. Something to acknowledge is that DS offers sixty second immunity and is a overpowered crutch perk, and if a killer who just so happens to find the survivor with DS still active and couldn't find another survivor cause of various reasons, they will be punished. DS unnecessarily punishes killers, and while it is a good anti-tunneling perks, it is still a fundamentally flawed perk.

I had fought a killer that tunnelled me for the whole match, like literally breaking mid chase to get me. (I was using Open Handed, Visionary, Kindred and We'll Make It)
When I confronted the killer about it they said "Bring DS next time idiot".
Yet they wonder why DS is so prominent in the game.
The next match it turns out it was the SAME KILLER from my previous match, but this time I did bring DS, and it also turns out the 3 others have DS too.
We won the match with no one dead and the killer just ranted on how we abused meta perks.
What a douche, you forced me to not use my aura build.

There are synergy issues with the perk, but more importantly it also becomes problematic when 3 or 4 survivors have it in the same trial. 180 to 240 seconds of essential immunity is problematic especially if you factor in Unbreakable.
