Why do you leave teammates behind?
You are full health and you know the killer has no noed. You know he needs to hit you twice. There is no risk involved for you. Maybe the killer doesnt let you unhook, thats ok. But i doesnt hurt to look for an oppurtunity.
Whats the reason that this people leave immediately?

If the killer is facecamping and there's no-one else there to take a hit, then there's no point trying to unhook. That's just giving the killer a free kill.
23 -
I know. Like i said its ok. But it doesnt hurt to look whether the killer is facecamping or not.

On healing at Gates and Killer pushed us out of trial.
Killer is Bubba / Hag
Killer with 1 hit down
Leave before you get hook incase of Blood Warden
Leave because of Rancor
...

I don't have borrowed time on my survivor yet and the Killer is rage-facecamping.I don't want to hook trade and be the one left behind.
12 -
Because I dont want to risk it. Like if I feel the killer is able to pull of my capture, then I wont.
No dont, The Killer is SMART!!! AAAAAAAaaaa!

Ooh this gets to me too. If the killer has noed then fine. I’d look for the totem though, but if it doesn’t get found it’s understandable to leave.
But too often this happens esp when you got chased all or most of the match. Maybe they are on death hook or maybe they don’t have BT, but a lot of the time they don’t even try. They’ll wait at the door or close to the hook, and make no attempt at all to save. I guess it makes them feel better about themselves.
I almost left my teammates too today. They didn’t do anything (for a good minute and a half on match start), didn’t complete a single gen in the next minute and a half I got into a chase, let me get to struggle on first hook, and didn’t go for hook saves until I gestured for them to. On EGC I almost just left them, but in the end came back for a BT save into a 4 man escape.
So no I don’t really understand why some teammates don’t even try for a save.
2 -
These things happen unfortunately.
I always try to rescue someone if I can, but I have had teammates who open the gates and immediately go out without even trying.
I think they only care for escaping rather than the teamplay.
I rather get chased than escape, it's way more fun for me as a survivor
4 -
I only play solo and have been repeatedly been left behind by console players, so now I just leave.
The only time I will attempt a last minute rescue is if the hooked person did a good job looping the killer. Then I don't mind dying for them to escape.
4 -
I leave them on the hook if they're an Urban Evasion user.
1 -
What huge said. Exactly that.
1 -
Well probably just that it's a damn waste of time if I'm not running dead hard and borrowed time, and I never use either
1 -
I have died so many times from trying to do a last minute hook rescue. I still try. I always run kindred, so if the killer is nearby, I'll be able to see it. If the hook is far from the exit, then the chances of me getting hooked trying to rescue is greater. If it's Deathslinger, I never wait. (I have seen survivors pulled away from the exit gate by him.)
I will wait at the exit, so if the person is struggling, they can get the max amount of struggle points. Again, I run kindred, so I can see if the killer is camping.
I know your frustrations. I have been left on the hook to die, while all 3 survivors were at the gates. 2 at one, 1 at the other and the killer chased the 1 person. The 2 could have rescued me, but they didn't. It is what it is.
Like I said, I still try late rescues, but I try to make sure it's fairly safe. During EGC killers tend to patrol/camp the area a lot more, especially if this is going to be their only hook.
1 -
If NOED is in play, I'm very unlikely to try to make a rescue unless the Killer is occupied with someone else and the hooked person isn't on the other side of the map.

Survivors job is to survive. They can survive by working together or betraying others. At endgame is where the betraying happens.

I allways get my mates. I love to be challenged even if the killer is facecamping.
Thats the game and an opportunity to get kills for new killers or some who got fed up from a chase.
I never mind dying. All should keep that in mind it's a game and if you're the last one hanging or get downed the third time it's good for somebody else. I have no hard feelings at that point.
I allways play like that. We all leave or nobody :D no matter how desperate the situation might appear. But if it works and both of you leave you feel like the king of the jungle.
I never understood survivors who leave. It's a game you don't really die xD
Mind the killer it's not just survivors who want to escape. They want kills too.

I've gone back countless times and been caught out. I mostly go back but last night i didn't because I needed 1 more escape to complete tome and daily challenge plus i was already injured.

I usually all ways do, however you can have days as solo survivor where you end up doing that in a few matches and then everyone else leaves when you get hooked. So sometimes people can just have bad days being left themselves and that carries on Into other matches because they feel like people aren't coming to save me so why am I putting myself on the line for someone else.

I was playing survivor earlier, and I did all the work. Got like 5 unhooks, did multiple gens. Got chased for a good amount of time. Killer was nowhere near me once I finally got caught. Claud thought it was a good idea to just leave me instead, when she wouldn't last in chase for like 10 seconds. Thankfully I kobe'd and made it out. Some people are just horrible players, and have no strategy at all.

I almost never leave people behind. The times I do I might have a purple medkit in hand and the person hooked did nothing in the game, then I care more about the escape and my item.

If they kobe in my face earlier in the game.

- You blow a skillcheck on "my" gen and the killer isn't Doctor
- You sabo a hook 2 seconds into the game near me
- I see you sandbagging or leading the killer to other people intentionally, I can tell cause I use Bond
- I approached you self caring in the corner (Cause I saw you with Bond) and you kept self caring when I was obviously trying to heal you
- I overall decide you haven't contributed enough to the game to make saving you a rewarding thought when my escape is on the line (I see you hiding in lockers or just running around while I'm on gens or going for saves, also thanks to Bond and Kindred)
Being able to see what your team is doing as a solo player is a gift and a curse, I really don't like a lot of the people I run into but the ones I do like, I'll trade hooks with you in EGC so you can escape.
You don't have to loop the killer for 5 minutes, just play smart and super judgy people like myself will die for you.
4 -
Is it? You dont get a pip when you only survive. And i dont ask to trade. Both could get out.

If the killer is new/bad then I open the gate and run out and leave everyone.. Good luck to the killer in that case
Or,
if team mates were sandbagging/toxic then tschau!

There are certain times I will intentionally leave someone behind even I could save them. I will not attempt to help a survivor that does certain things. Here are 3 examples:
1) Perform unsafe hook removals the moment someone is hung
2) Hide the whole match
3) Do things with other survivors near to attract killer attention while the killer isn't around (ex. throw pallet or fast vault window)
If the gate is open I will run right by a hooked survivor that has done any of these things without slowing down. The way I look at it is if they had no problem throwing the rest of the team under the bus during the match I have no trouble letting them stay under the bus parked on them as I head out the door.
Generally speaking though I don't leave other survivors stranded if there is even a chance I might be able to save them.
1 -
As a solo survivor, I can't count the number of times what should have been a 1K for the killer turns into 3 or 4K because people run back for that one guy.
I often run kindred, so I know where the killer and other survivors are in this situation at the end game. It's maddening to watch teammates throw games that have gone almost perfectly up to that point.
3 -
I will deliberatly leave someone behind for one of two reasons, spite or bloodpoints.
If you are not on death hook and you deliberatly run the killer into me. If you have been a potato all match not contributing and survival may be the difference between you de-pipping and safety pipping. If you unhook me in front of the killer without borrowed time or come in for a recue and then proceed to loop the killer around the hook instead of trying to pull him away and i go to struggle on my first hook. I will leave you behind no questions asked.
If i have a daily or rift challenge or am going for an adept achievement especially on a survivor i havent leveled up much yet, i will only go for it if im 100 percent sure i can get it done safely. Otherwise i weigh the risk based on how you've played but i need those bloodpoints if its too risky the best ill do is try to draw the killer to me at my door so someone else can try to get you.

I usually leave when I have a quest that I need to do which involves escaping.
Otherwise I will typically YOLO the save unless it's obviously hopeless (like a facecamping leatherface, or NoEd is still on and nobody can find it, everyone is injured, etc
2 -
Depends on a lot of factors.
If I'm running Kindred, and on death hook, I'm not coming back if the killer is camping. Sorry.
If the killer is camping the basement, I'll make a quick attempt to see if the killer will follow me out, but otherwise I'm out of there and salute your service.
But usually I'll go for the save. I remember one time a Deathslinger was face camping in end game (Fair enough, secure your kills). One guy was a streamer, and the other was a Cheryl. (The Streamer was playing Meg, who I was also playing.) The Streamer saved the Cheryl, but got downed, and then the Cheryl got downed again. I 99ed the exit gate, went to pick up Cheryl, then saved the Streamer. I ended up going down, but I get picked up, and me and the streamer go and heal each other up. We go back to save Cheryl, but we can't find her for anything. But me and the STreamer get out. The Cheryl sadly doesn't because I think he couldn't find the exit. He died to end game countdown. But it was definitely a lot of fun. I went for the save cause I hadn't been hooked all game, and felt I owed it to my teammates to go for the save.

I leave people that don't contribute much behind. If I see someone crouching around not on a gen while the obsession is being chased I will leave them behind. That is one example.
0 -
Probably for the same reason survivors escape using a key and leave their teammates behind. They are only concerned with escaping, and don't care about leaving people behind.
0 -
Only if I'm trying to get a challenge done that involves escaping. It's a miracle that I even made it that far so I'm gonna have to be a jerk so I can get it done.

Why did I leave a teammate behind?
Let's see.
- You teabagged the Killer and I want you to get what you deserve and I am not down with Survivor BM.
- You were a moron that got me hurt at least once.
- You failed a basic skill check on a generator I was working on.
- You wasted half the pallets in the game on one chase.
- You brought a Key.
- You wasted precious game time Self-Caring in the corner while the rest of us were playing the game.
- You did nothing to help me when I was on the hook and another teammate had to come get me.
How many reasons do you need, exactly?
1 -
Some people may just leave b/c they're doing the challenge to escape a # of times and don't want to chance it. They'll also leave because they don't care about possibly saving you, especially if it backfires and they get focused on unhook and downed, they'll probably be full of regret.
The only reasons I'll leave people behind is if they do barely anything to contribute to the match, ie stealthing everywhere, not keeping pressure on gens, esp in a 3 gen scenario (so many survivors do not know how to play this situation, its odd), dive bombing hooks for points and wasting people's lives/pulling the killer back to them immediately, etc. The other reason is situational, but I don't run BT, and if you got hooked on the other side of Narnia, the farthest point from the 1 exit gate open and I know the other exit gate is near you, I might try and open it but good chance the killer is checking on it and then back to the hooked survivor. If I do go for the save, there's almost a sure chance either I go down or the unhooked survivor does, and at that point, killer can just tunnel the remaining person b/c of furthest distance from the exit gate, and if they go down as well, thats 2 kills instead of 1.
If its a facecamp, esp a Bubba, I'll just leave. If it isn't, I'll analyze the situation and if my teammates want to try to make a play, I'll try and pull my weight by taking a hit. But that's also a tight scenario and very situational.

Only if the team mate was absolutely useless and did nothing to help anyone else. I run Bond so I see what is going on with my team most of the time. I know who's pulling their weight and who is just wandering around like a lost puppy doing nothing.

Kindred.
0 -
Well if someone pops the exit early and triggers EGC my current protocol is just to leave.
Otherwise I will always make an attempt to save unless they pissed me off for some reason.
0 -
Oh yes I hate this., They saved themselves earlier, they can save themselves now.
1 -
Sometimes, strategically, it's better to have two for a save. One to distract and one to unhook. Personally, I try if I'm at full health and only leave if I have to. I will attempt the save even if it means I might not make it back.
0 -
Well sometimes if a survivor is playing like they just bought he game I'll be petty and think... 'well that survivor shouldn't be at this rank anyway, so a potential depip would actually help them out and be healthy for the match making system' and I leave asap.
Another reason would be killer/scenario specific. E.g. I generally do not go for saves against killers like hillbilly, hag huntress, leatherface etc if they're 'camping' and the survivor is in the basement. At any point in the game.

Maybe for some players the game end when the last gen is repaired, for me end when you know that all your fellas are safe
1 -
I Also agree.
I put effort into players who put effort in the team and escaping. If you put no effort in, I'm not coming back from you. Period
1 -
How many reasons do you have exactly?
0 -
I’m the expect blood warden type
0 -
When i used to play Survivor, i just bolted out cause i wanted to escape.
Never blamed anyone for leaving me behind either.
I didn't really need to go take a look either, Kindred was on most of the time.
0 -
Because I get more bloodpoints for escaping than I do for likely dying to save you.
0 -
I try to help my team as much as I can, But if the killer has trapped the basement or is face camping another survivor, I know it's hopeless to try and save them. So I leave.
0 -
So you're giving a kill to a killer because he is bad? why not save your team mate and sacrifice yourself then if you want to reward a bad player?
1 -
I agree with most of the reasons in this thread. The one, however, that I don't agree with is "Well I had a challenge/quest to complete."
No, no, no. You can complete that one next trial. Don't be selfish.
0 -
It really depends on a lot of things, for example what's the killer? If it's a bubba I'm not even going to try. If I have a challenge or if that survivor helped me and I stayed alive. If they predrop every pallet and they get downed in that side of the map I'm not going to try to save them.
If a killer is facecamping and it's a 2v1 there are little to no chances to have a 2man escape. If you have bt it might be manageable, but still it's really difficult
0 -
Thats exactly what I do ;)
