The New Survivor Movement is Terrible

I've been playing Dead by Daylight since 2017 close to it's console release and switched to PC in the end of 2019 and as other old players say, we all miss the old Dead by Daylight. This new update has completely removed the feel and nostalgia of the game. Survivor movement is so scuffed that when I'm looping the killer, I lose tons of momentum even when I'm spinning in circles waiting in safe spots of loops which end up in me getting hit. I don't understand why things are changed that no one asks to be changed. We could be focusing on more important things like the bugs in the game but then the whole UI gets changed. The old one was perfectly fine, it was simple and compact. This one just has a bunch of the same information we had in the old one scattered all over the screen. As Scott said, since there's nothing in the top right-hand side of the screen, why not just put the killers lore there because why not?

There should at least have been an option to toggle the old UI for players who prefer it. I love this game and even create content for it. This has been the only game I've been playing since 2017 and I'm not saying I'll go as far as to quit it as many others have been saying but the real question is, why are things that most of the community commonly agree to be bad for the game go through as actual changes? Just like the Billy nerf awhile back. A balanced, yet strong killer in the right hands was gutted even though he was in a good spot besides his addons. Then there's killers like Spirit and Freddy who are among the strongest with a low skill cap.

These changes are not beneficial for the game and will only drive old players away. I won't be going anywhere but it raises the question. Why?

Why is the biggest question everyone has right now. They said “toads more stuff to the hud” with any more stuff my brain will explode

The old animations looked outdated and everyone just has to get used to the new ones also they probably will be more polished in the future.

Well that’s your opinion but I’ve never seen another game where characters had a hunchback like in the old animations except maybe Quasimodo in Kingdom Hearts.

Probably not constantly and I’ve never seen any horror movies where someone keeps a constant hunchback to escape. The new waking animations look more stealthy and that’s what makes it realistic and definitely not the hunchback. That’s just my opinion tho and I’m aware that the majority dislikes the changes.

See, my only guess is that they gave all survivors David's animation before they all get their own. Back in the beta, the same applied that all survivors shared Dwight's animation. So I would say give it some time, they probably want to release all updated animations at once and this game DID need a revamped animation.

My biggest issue is with the injured running, as it looks like my pants dropped to my ankles while I try to reach the bathroom before I ######### myself. Other than that, assuming the skeletons of the animations will be adjusted per survivor. They are fine.

I like the animations visually I just don't like that they affected gameplay.

It's nearly impossible to dodge a gunslinger shot now.

It's a literal downgrade from the old animations. I don't understand.

Only 7 upvotes :( I dont know a single friend happy with these changes. I too have been around since 2017 and have more hours than I'd like to admit. The new movement is terrible. It feels clunky and much slower. The gameplay has a totally different feel to it as survivor. This might actually kill the game for me. Why would they do this? Who asked for this?

You said it better than me, I just want the devs to know this change is disgusting. I dont want the gameplay to feel like f13. I want it to feel smooth and swift like it used to be. I dont understand this change at all and it really is telling how little these devs understand their game at all.

My biggest concern with the new animations is the fact that they actually cause me to skip and teleport randomly.. I've been playing DBD for about 4 years now and I've never had the animations skip the way they do now, before.

What it looks like is as if I was teleporting around due to having high latency or some sort of connection issues, but that is not the case, it's just my character glitching out.

It's particularly noticeable with "Fixated" on (which got a wonderful buff this patch) and while injured with Fixated on or during toggling crouching on and off.

When I opened game few days ago, my first impression about "new" movement was "what the actual ****"!!! Then I played a few games and understood few things:

    1. 360 is BROKEN! You can NOT 360 around killer anymore. Don't see how this is "more realistic", based on description. More realistic would be, that I could do this action!

    2. Moonwalking is something more terrible than 360.

    3. Old movement was "more smooth" than this is. It feels like you go from 3D to 2D.

    4. Survivor postures remind me of meerkat 😂

Best thing about the animations is my frame rate no longer drops because of survivors.

So I just thought I’d put my 2 cents in. On the Switch version which I play, the survivor animations actually look fine. The idle animation and the running while injured could be worked on, but the rest are ok. I didn’t know what everyone was complaining about until I saw a video of PC gameplay, and yeah that was horrendous. The animations on PC look clunky and unnatural, but on the Switch version they actually look ok.

The UI changes didn’t they say it’s because of new features they were going to implement for new killers? I think they said that. In order to implement certain new features for new killers they needed to change the UI ahead of time.

I'm at the point of completely uninstalling this game and demanding a refund for every penny I gave to this studio. The game is no longer fun. No longer has that magic it had when I first played it when it released on console. I play games to escape stress in my life such as work and the mundane. This game is definitely not the prescription for that. They so these updates that make it hard to play as the survivor and super easy for the killer. I'm sorry but playing easy killer games every game can only be fun for so long until I start to crave a challenge. I'm not one for easy accomplishments, and that's why I prefer survivor because it actually feels worth escaping due to how hard the game is, but Behavior had to go and make it harder and harder for survivors with almost every update. I felt I've played this game enough and learned all there's to learn about the game that it shouldn't be getting exponentially harder with these updates. This game is designed for losers who need an easy accomplishment in their lives so they go on Dead by Daylight, play killer, get an easy win, and earn the same satisfaction that trolls get when they no they've made someone out there upset. I don't like the mentality this game promotes in people, and the developers have themselves to blame. I hope this killer favoritism is not the result from Matthew Cote being embarrassed playing as killer we saw way back. Do the developers even play their own game as survivors? Because I can't imagine them playing survivor and saying, "Yeah this seems like alot of people would find this fun." I'm aggravated because I've invested so much time and money due to how much fun I had in the beginning where I was suckered in then to have that fun stripped away. I keep coming back in hopes that the issues were corrected, that enough people Complained. But no results.
