UI Feedback - One Thread - Let's Gather it All in One Thread *Please*

I'm seeing a ton of posts talking about the disdain for the new UI. Could we please focus our attention to one thread so it can be noticed/archived? I'm sure the admin here are going to have a hard time seeing the feedback if it is all spread out. I'll start..

New UI:

Positives:

  • Survivor Icon makes it easier to know who has DS.
  • Hook counter is helpful generally

Negatives:

  • Information is too spread out
  • Blocks vision on the left side
  • Too bright/immersion breaking, before it was subtle and at the bottom so you could look at it when you needed to
  • The red slashes are too bright/flashy, once again...distracting
  • Overall it looks cheap and mobile-like
  • Too much information, it's like the game is in tutorial mode, I don't need the game to tell me what to do. Once again it's lost it's subtlety

DbD has a particular aesthetic which we have grown accustomed to. The new UI feels clunky, forced, unappealing, and soulless.

I understand you are trying to adapt for new players and improve QoL but this forced transition on veteran players is going to create a rift. I suggest as solution, that you add in the ability for players to choose to use the old layout. This might not be as easy as it sounds but there is no way to get "used" to this new UI. It is a downgrade, through and through.

    You summed it all pretty well already. Besides, during PTB people already made tens of topics about the new UI, saying what's wrong with it, giving BETTER solutions, but BHVR just...just raised their middle finger up. Here it is: Brand new UI, everything spread out and...oh well it's just rushed work, generally. There is currently hundred times better character icon layout exist, it showed us everything we needed: state of survivors, how many hooks, what is the character...but oh well, BHVR didn't listen to community.

    Taking note this game is from year 2016, there's very few options that you can change through the in-game settings, but you can change some from the file. Give us options to customize UI (besides resize), or even better: let us revert back to old UI as well.


    And as OP already mentioned most of the main problems of the new UI, I just want to end my message with this:

    Yes, red slashes are too distracting.

    Completely agree that it’s horrible. Perks, items, and add-ons are way too big. I like the hook counts and survivor icons with the new UI, but the layout of the old one. The old UI was all in one place, at the bottom of the screen, and easy to look at. This change was completely unnecessary and unwanted.

    Absokute trash. The ui is counterintuitive and gets in the way no matter the scale size. And don't get me started on the constipated running. Oh and pallet drop prompts are delayed so killer wins pallets 100% of the time now if they lunge...and I say this as a killer main. This is by far the absolute worst update released in dbd in my 5000 hours in game...really amateurish looking game now. The beta looked better for crying out loud.

    If I had to consolidate the experience of these updates into something simple, I'd put it this way "I feel like I'm playing a cheap mobile game". If I wanted to play a mobile game, I'd play one. The new UI isn't terrible, but there was nothing wrong with the old one and it was already great. If anything, you could add simple character profile pics to the old one and call it a day. The information is so spread out that it's a bit hard to take it all in easily and quickly. The maps that have been updated feel "cheap", the graphics look terrible and extremely downgraded to the point it feels like I'm running around a Roblox port of DBD. Not to mention the near game-breaking bugs this update has brought with it, horrible hit boxes, pip and leveling issues to name a few. The new character animations, while not terrible, are also not great. The running and walking looks awkward and unreal and just overall looks very out of place.

    TL;DR

    The game got an "update", but in reality all we got was serious downgrades and a now, cheap feeling game.
