The new HUD is a perfect example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
8 -
you forgot to add the minecraft stone axes into the hotbar to represent the 5 hatches huntress has left
4 -
How is it fine? What about it do you like?
3 -
How is the bottom side of the screen the most important? Every part of the screen is important. The bottom was the most important originally due to all of the information being there.
Also, do you like how the information is spread out everywhere? Or do you think it could be streamlined so more information is more readily available at a glance?
"Freshness to the layout" and "more options to change the size" are not good arguments for the HUD change. Changing the layout is not always a good thing, especially when what you have is good as it is. The size thing could have been added to the original HUD.

Signed. Hideous UI and animations.
4 -
Glad to see this post / petition is still going strong!
One thing I find alarming though is the fact that @DerZuntor @shadowman0105 and @Zagrid took it as gospel that the UI had no way of being reversed, and that’s just 3 users that voiced their belief.
7 -
Indeed, and I am glad it is. We need the Old UI back as soon as possible.
4 -
If anyone believes this.. regarding a UI... I would question their critical thinking skills.
4 -
Because they use the PTB for bug testing. They do not care what the community thinks and they already have the idea THEY want the game to be.
1 -
Signed, please revert the UI (and the terrible animations)

The idea that a UI needs to use all of its available real estate is so incredibly backwards. Players should spend as little time thinking about the UI as possible so they can focus on the actual game, and having to dart your eyes to every corner of the screen doesn't help. And the argument that they can't revert it is meaningless. Even if you can't just press and Undo button to make things go back, you can still adjust the current system to fix bad decisions. Hell, best case scenario, let players move UI elements around as well as scaling them. Might be a bit more work, but it's not anything unheard of.

You said the W word, they don't say that word at bhvr. it is black listed and gets you a night outside in a metal box.

(I couldn't find my comment after I posted it, so I'll submit it again and try to elaborate my points from earlier. I'll try to be constructive and civil without using any harsh words.)
I can't say anything good about the new UI. Everything from the awkward character animation to the scattered (and tacky) HUD is just unpleasant. I understand the DEVs worked hard to make these updates, but no one asked for them. All that effort should have gone into making changes that people have actually asked for (ie fixing bugs and gameplay balance issues).
I know I'm not adding anything new here, and that's kind of the point. Virtually no one likes the new UI, and players are saying so constantly. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to keep it. I'm sure the devs want us to bring in new players and to keep paying for DLCs/cosmetics. The only way to keep the playerbase strong is to give players what they want.
I've never been all that vocal about the game's problems until now. Honestly, the problems I used to have with the game seem even more minor compared to the current problems with 4.5.0.
Hey, maybe that's their plan. Maybe the devs got tired of people complaining about the game, and introduced this new UI to prove a point that it could be worse. Just to get people to shut up about MMR and player toxicity.
If it means going back to the old UI, I'll never say anything bad about DBD again.
Is that a deal, BHVR?
Jokes aside, please give us back the old UI. We want it.

Yes I also don’t believe it. I’m sure they can but they don’t want to. Also, didn’t Not Queen say that they want to wait for console players to try it out and give feedback first?? Now she’s saying it’s not possible??
3 -
The example in this post is just perfect, survivor faces and status effect. I love it.

Absolutely hate the new UI. That it can't be changed is a blatant lie. If (somehow) the previous data was deleted, it can be redone in the same way that it was changed to this setup. There was no reason for the change. It was not wanted. It was voiced that it was not wanted after the PTB. I'm so frustrated that this game I have played since 2016 is continuing to decline because of the creators rather than the player base. That the creators are killing the game with ridiculous decisions.... Honestly, why do we even have a PTB? Instead of wasting "time and resources" on this, they could have FINALLY made a colorblind mode. But they were too uninterested in it and irritated that it was being asked for so much. A change that was asked for. But because it wasn't their idea it wasn't a priority.
Please change the UI back. Or give us the option to change it back. Hate the new UI. There's no "more information" that you have to display that could not have been added to the old UI instead of moving everything around.
1 -
Signed. I hate the new UI. Feel like they bold faced lied to us about not being able to revert. Guess they think we are stupid as well. If they don’t want to revert that’s fine but I’m finished with em.

My God, give the OP a job.
You paying attention BHVR?????
6 -
Like... a good step is to make the gen counter where the killer power is... instead of up on the screen...
2 -
Appreciate the compliment but I can’t take credit for that, I had seen posted a while back when the PTB came out, another user then linked the picture under my original post. Whoever designed it is more than qualified to be working for them, that’s for sure!
4 -
Consider it signed by me. BHVR needs to actually listen instead of throwing out excuses or ignoring them outright. We have a voice too and so far they only seem to be ignoring it unless it is positive reinforcement of their practices/changes. We need to be loud enough to ensure they will hear us, and furthermore, we need to point out the blatant lies that is the post that states that there is "no going back" in terms of the UI. Not only for technical reasons, but also for the reasoning that they were supposedly not going to make any drastic decisions until they supposedly heard feedback from console players.
5 -
What is the point of feedback if they are not even going to listen in the first place? Old UI was better from a gameplay perspective. Everything I need to know is in 1 place. Now the only good changes is the ability to change the UI size and survivor icons imo.
12 -
I’m not sure what they do with feedback, or the player satisfaction surveys... it’s almost as if it goes missing in the mail.
4 -
I have played this game for years, it had its up and downs but I don't remember something this bad since original mettle of man or original legion. I wish they put the same effort that they do creating cosmetics and microtransactions in fixing the game. I really hope the devs get it together because if back for blood or the new evil dead game that are coming out turn out to be good they're gonna be in serious trouble
5 -
You have my vote, the new hud looks awful.
3 -
The same post on reddit had like 15k upvotes, and it didn't matter. I doubt this thread will change anything
1 -
The new HUD is awful. I've explained why multiple times elsewhere, so no need to repeat most of it here, except I will say that having the survivor information vertical along the side of the screen is terrible for quick readability, and having some of the least important information of the entire HUD (the players' names) jutting out into the FOV is... #########, there are just so many terrible design decisions here.
1 -
And what they say is bullshit. They can get back to the old layout with the new feature in a couple of hours if they want to. It's not the system that has to change, but the layout and the icons. Period.
I code games, so i know what i'm talking about. A couple of hours of work. No more than that. They don't want to do it. Different.
5 -
It might not change anything, but for the minimal amount of time and effort it’s definitely worth giving it a shot. The risk / reward ratio is stacked heavily in our favor!!!!
5 -
I really love that UI suggestion in your post. It looks really clean, concise, and on-brand for Dead By Daylight. If they can't revert back to the old UI, why not just use that suggestion/mock up? They already have the portraits and most of the assets to do it, but I don't have a clue about coding...
2 -
If they can't revert it, why not give us the ability to customize it to fit our personal need? It's a win-win. They can keep the new UI and we'll have everything in one place again
5 -
They don't listen negative feedback at all, so the only effective way is not to play the game.
4 -
@Slendy4321 That would be awesome as well. That way, it caters to everyone that has differing needs/preferences
3 -
Exactly!!! Everyone gets what they want and the devs can keep in the new UI. Win-win

So this thread has been live for 12 hours and has 2.8k views.
The comments have been inline with the forum rules so thank you to everyone that has posted and to the mods for not closing it down.
I’m about to go to sleep now, hopefully this thread keeps it’s momentum, and ideally ends up being viewed by a higher power!!

I sign this, even if they lock this because it hurt their feelings.

Agreed, not only is the new ui too spread out, but I hate the look of the 3d survivor icons, I don't think they match with everything else. I love the examples people have made using the adept character art.
Honestly I would be perfectly happy if they just:
- Moved the survivor icons back to the bottom (some of the most important info in the game, so it needs to be in a convenient spot, plus having it running down the side of the screen makes it hard to scan through names (up/down vs left/right)
- Made the UI less cluttered, its horrible having to look to literally every corner and side of the screen for the info you need
- Changed the hook timer and exhaustion meter colour/made it more visible, its so hard to make out now and people are getting sacrificed because of it
- Changed survivor icons to adept character art or even back to the blank faces from before, so all the icons had a matching style. Honestly I think the 3d icons look pretty unprofessional and are part of what makes the new ui look like a mobile game hud

I've studied graphic design and anyone else with a decent eye can tell you that this new UI is atrocious. The character models and the animation look so bland. The design is all over the place, and the artistic style is inconsistent. The old UI is the superior one, and the developers could of just stuck with it or made slight adjustments. Not reverting back to the old would just show the whole community that they don't care what we have to say.
11 -
The numbers will talk, if they see a drop in players and overall less player engagement (time people spend playing) or if they see an increase or they just keep the same.
3 -
Revert it for now while you work on a better version of the new one
4 -
Since I know. Devs will not put UI in its old place. So I keep the new UI placement, but make it cleaner.
Portraits on all the time: check
Arts are consistence in 2D flat style
Status are clear to see: check
Bars are clear to see: check
Yellow bar as Deep wound / Orange as Dying / Red as Hooked
Hooked bar isnt split into double halve. But rather depleted one (count forward another hook mark) then refill the bar. And continue.

I've resorted to scaling the new UI right down as it's causing me eyestrain and is distracting. I would rather play the game without a HUD right now.
1 -
New UI and movement sucks so bad
3 -
I have also set it to the lowest "size" (70% I think?) and that helps a lot. I recommend that anyone having issues tries this out, it's in the Settings menu (Steam version at least, I don't know if you can change it on console).
0 -
Yep, did the same. I definitely prefer playing without any HUD right now.
2 -
I heard that it is not possible to roll back.
So here's an idea for me.
Let's develop a new one, the same as the old UI, again.
It's not a rollback, it's a rebuild of the old one! YAY!

- I play on both PC and PS4, and on both I dislike the new UI. So your argument that it's my idea that PC players are superior above console is absolute dogsh*t. I never said that anywhere on this forum, so don't make stuff up.
- I never changed my icons, even if I could in the past. I don't give a sh*t about costum icons. So there you're wrong again.
- A TV screen is much bigger than a PC screen (90% of the time it is, some people have huge screens for their PC games). Before it was all clustered together for information. Now it's all over the place. And the wiggle bar when you're on struggle on hook is way too small. At first I didn't even could find it, while before it was also underneath the players icon and way bigger.
- I give one positive thing about the new UI and that is the players portrait by their name, so you can see which survivor is which. But that's all I can say positive about it.
6 -
It's not her fault but the fault of BHVR as a company because they failed to adress the feedback which was given to them during the last PTB and choose to ignore it.
Bashing on a person, will risk this thread to get closed.Be constructive with your feedback please
Also, your username just feels like you're trying to insult BHVR with the word gay in this context
