The Game Rework

I want to start of by saying the map The Game looks fantastic now. The new lighting and textures really do wonders. Great work to everyone who worked on making the map look so good.

The actual layout/gameplay is a different matter, unfortunately. When I played on the PTB, it seemed fine and generally inoffensive. However, now that I've had more chances to play on it, there are definitely issues with it. The way it is now is, in a word, boring. There are so many loops that are absurdly long and safe. Pretty much every loop is a safe loop now, with a disturbing amount of pallets the MUST be broken to go a certain way. I always thought that one pallet by the staircase on Midwich was dumb, and now there's so many on the same tier. This is what makes The Game so boring to play on now. For killers that lack projectile or ranged attacks, there are no mindgames to be had whatsoever. You just run around a loop for 10 seconds, try to not get a pallet slammed in your face when you get close and then kick it when it's thrown. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. And I believe the devs said that one of the points of this rework was to make it easier to get from one floor to another. From my experience, this didn't actually get any better. And the breakable walls were very poorly implemented into this map. They worked on maps like Dead Dawg Saloon, because the way they were set up, you could make a strategic choice when it comes to breaking certain walls: you could make the loop potentially shorter for you, but also for the survivor. Same goes for Midwich. This is not what happened in The Game. The breakable walls just make it more difficult to patrol the map, making them more of a chore to deal with than something to base strategy around.

Those are the points that I wanted to make that I feel would be rather unbiased. But I do have one point I'd like to make that is definitely biased. It kinda pisses me off that the devs took one of the few maps that you could call heavily killer sided and turned it into the largest collection of safe loops in dead by daylight. I used to be relatively excited to go to this map, now I just dread watching it pop up. At least some of the other survivor sided maps in the game there were still mind games to be had, and you could pull off some fun maneuvers in an attempt to catch people off guard. But on The Game, you just hold W.

TLDR: The Game looks fantastic now, but the rework itself was very poorly executed, making it more of a chore than a challenge.
