Any tips against deathslinger?

I feel its near impossible to react to his shot in time. At least with huntress the speed of the hatchets is enough to react. And to run him it seems like you have to hope he miss the shot.

I honestly don't have a clue on how to counter him effectively. Any tips on how to handle him?

Pre drop pallets, and break line of sight. If out in the open try to time his shot and juke it otherwise it's a gg

Well when I'm in the open deathslinger would fake taking shots and close in on me. How do I time that?

If you're ever going into a tight area, fake it first. Often they'll shoot instantly allowing you get some extra time.

Predropping pallets is the big one. And with predrop i mean dropping them before the chase even starts.

When in close to medium distance you can't react to the shot so it will be a case of wether or not deathslinger misses. But that doesn't mean you can't make it harder for him. running in a SMALL serpentine motion and randomly alternating between right and left can be the difference between a missed shot and a sure hit.

Do note small serpentine motion. I see survivors all the time trying to dodge deathlingers needle like they were huntresses beachballs. You don't need to do full 90 degree turns to dodge deathslingers shots. Just small 10ish degrees turns can make it a lot harder for deathslinger.

Other then that always try to keep as much line of sight blockers as possible and remember that you don't need 5 minute chases vs deathslinger. Deathslinger is slow in everything he does so a 1 minute chase for him is almost as bad as a 2 minute chase for other killers

you counter him by putting objects between you and him so that when he does hit you, you break the chain. This is how he is intended to be fought. You aren't supposed to dodge his shots, you are supposed to get hit by them, then stun him with the chain break, that's why his stun is so long and why he's a 110% killer.

    Deathslinger main here:

    - if going into a tight space like a pallet, window or even a doorway, FAKE IT FIRST. Deathslingers are always counting on the survivor to do something predictable like this. If we miss, you can safely go through the tight space. If line it up but don't shoot, just go a different way as lining up shots is difficult.

    - Lose LoS (line of sight), we can't shoot through walls.... Simples

    - when lopping duck at the right time. Deathslingers have to shoot over obstacles lower than the survivor. So if you see your on the opposite side of a small obstacle, you better duck.

    - If healthy dont pre-drop pallets, it just makes our life easier, we shoot: free pallet and a free hit when you break free.

These tips should help you do well, deathslingers love to quickscope as it gives no time for reaction, so use this to your advantage knowing that we won't hesitate or fake a shot, when it's the right time we'll just fire at will lol

If you feel like it's impossible to dodge his shots, that's because it is impossible unless you're at max range. Hide and don't give him chases. If you're in a chase pre-drop pallets when injured and just take the hit when you're healthy.

Deathslingers shot moves at the same speed as a fully wound hatchet, which means that it is impossible to react to. The best you can do is try and juke it and hope the Slinger isn't good.

Also take off super early, distance helps a lot.

Playing against Deathslinger is pretty hard because you have to constantly look over your shoulder to see when he raises his gun.

If you have a M&K, you can do some pretty fast flicks which can help you dodge a hit. But again, you have to be looking over your shoulder.

I recommend running Spine Chill which will allow you to gain some distance. Also, take note of safe loops and throw down pallets early when you're injured.

Has Deathslinger been buffed? It seems like his chain has more pull power than when he was first introduced.

A fully charged huntress hatchet has the same speed as a slinger shot btw.

Pre drop pallets and learn 50/50 scenarios. Bait common locations like a pallet. Dry hump god buildings like the badham school and crotus main.

Console players are out of luck I guess.

That said, I don't think Deathslinger is as potent on console as he is on PC. So in that regard, console survivors may have an advantage.

In the chase scenario if the Deathslinger is fully competent then there is not hell of a lot you can do as you use resources. Deathslinger will be happy to exhaust the tile you're using then get the shot (or fake ads to m1) when you're forced to move away.

The biggest success in chase I've had against deathslinger is to fake pallet drops healthy and pre-drop injured. You need to milk pallets as much as they're worth against him though. If you're on a safe pallet always show yourself running away and then turn back if he doesn't break the pallet to waste more time. If on an unsafe pallet dropped stay on it. He will not want to break it therefore run the unsafe pallet as long as you possibly can because he is 110% ms. Remember against deathslinger it's completely up to the skill of the killer because he technically has hit pressure anytime you're in LoS and away from structure which is a lot!

It kinda plays like spirit except you have more visual cues. If you're against a really good player you're doomed in chase it's out of your hands but the objective is to maximise that time he has committed on you as much as humanly possible.

Not for this patch! Going against him now is an EZ WIN! Hitboxes are so out whack, he'll miss twice as many shots as normal!
