Time penalty reset?

Sometimes I get called away from my game or I will leave because of other in game/ out of game reasons. I of course get a time penalty because I left the game. The problem I see with this is that the timer will never reset it's cycles. 2 minutes, 15 minuets, 30 minuets, 1 hour, etc. Leaving the game is easy as a survivor because you can just hook suicide, but if the killer wants to leave, it is not so easy. it saves time for everyone if the killer just quits rather than stay afk for 5-10 minutes. The issue is that the time penalties take way too long to reset, (or never do)

I feel like a simple solution to this would be to simply reset the timer penalty at midnight every day. Or maybe, for every 4 games you finish, you set the timer penalty back a cycle ( assuming you are already up a few penalties).

Thoughts?

They already reset after a quite fair amount of time.

Yeah, they should reset fully after 24 hours, IMO.

You're acting like there should no leaver penalty. This is not a healthy perspective. If anything, I believe hook suicides should count as a disconnect and increment your penalty.

It's working as intended, and the time penalties decay as others have said. Just make sure you have time to play a match before you queue up! Matches take maybe 15 minutes at most unless something's gone really awry, which is not an unreasonable block of time.

Yeah sadly there is no way of telling the reason that someone disconnects, so all situations are considered to be the same.

As mentioned before, it is up to you to determine that you have enough time for the match.

If something does come up unexpectedly, you will be paying the minimal penalty. But if interruptions are coming up that often that will be on you.

At the end of the day, any match you suicide on hook, or leave, is ruining the experience for the other players.

hook suicides should not be part of the disconnect penalty.one it part of the game and 2 people would stop playing after being penalty by them hook suiciding and game will die.think the que time are long now they get long if that happens.

I don't want to bog down this thread with another discussion of how I feel about the struggle mechanic; I will just say that I think it needs to be reworked. There's another big thread on all of it on or near the front page currently.

My main point for the OP, though, is that you shouldn't commit to a match if you don't think you can spare the 15 minutes for it. The leaver penalty exists to punish you for sandbagging your team and not participating in the match you agreed to.

that's fair, penalty working how it should i just don't think hook suicides should be part of it.

i almost wish there was hook suicides for killers tho.

I would 100% support the DC penalty to reset to 0 every 24 hours. I also like your idea to reduce by 1 penalty level per 4 games. I had not thought of that but it would be more fair to people who play a lot vs occasional players. The 2nd one may also be more fair to people who get penalties for host errors. Both of these would definitely be preferable to the system in place now. Currently you could play 20 games a day, DC once per day (not an unreasonable number) and by day 5 get a 6 hour penalty. For a Dc rate of under 5%. Ridiculous.

This system is stupid and it will only lead to people leaving the game.

I know it because i have so many steam friends who have stop to play the game because of that.

They almost every time DC because of a bug, it's not a ragequit.

So do you think there is in the mind of a player who was frustrated enough by a bug for leaving the game, when he see that he have a penalty for not being happy with the gameplay.

The best thing to do (imao) is to let people leave the game, but his characters stay in the game (like online survival game where you can leave only after a timer of 10sec) and he's not able to play again until the game is finish.

And give him a rank penalty or block the acces to the rift or the bloodweb for the same amount of time that we have right now with the penalty system

I don't know how blocking blood web would be good or healthy for the game lol. DBD already has a bunch of broken stuff that they didn't fix yet you suggest an even more and harsh DC penalty, like where's your logic?
