Imagine making your game look like trash just to appease entitled players

Terrible changes for more than one reason. Looks stupid, defeats the entire purpose of the animation changes, screws over newer killers and people who don't have 2080TI+ cards. I thought the "skill" of being a survivor was staying away from the killer and out playing them with mind games, not literally vanishing from their screen in 1-2 frames because of terrible FPS, FOV and character movement. But hey, priorities I guess.

Maybe it shouldn't be that easy, just by wiggling your body left and right.

i played my first game after the 4.5.2 update against 4 rank 1 survivors and holy crap, i felt like a yellow rank killer again. Sure you can just wait it out if they're in a deadzone but that new movement will definitely help good survivors who know how and when to equip it (eg to fake vaults and common movement). It's too much for me, i play at 40 fps most of the time because of bad laptop, it felt like they have latency and disappear / teleport. It weren't even 360s, they just suddenly changed direction and it looked so unexpected and fast that it caught me off guard.

Just logged on after work to play some survivor games. Queues are already hella slow and it's only going to get worse later tonight. Yesterday queue times were great. Coincidence?
2 -
I got to rank 1 survivor, then picked up killer and did every killer adept, even Nurse; but I do not play killer any longer solely because of survivors who 360. It's my kryptonite.
I have tried various interventions, such as predicting 360s, and learning to 360 as a survivor to give myself perspective, but I just cannot perfect a guaranteed solution to counter a survivor really good at 360'ing :/ other than getting lucky, or just purposely leaving that survivor for last.
3 -
You are obsessed with PS2. Let it go. The new animations were #########. All of about 7 people liked them.
6 -
yeah, you're right, survivors should just run in straight lines and take the hatchets. i see the way now, ty.
0 -
But we're talking about melee attacks here. It's not Call of Duty. We're not wildly swinging our weapons or anything. The game requires to hit the survivors in such a specific little spot, and then it can still get taken away by aim dressing and lag.
6 -
And we'll be doing it in 2022 as well if it keeps robbing us of easily deserved hits.
14 -
Absolutely. We call it console.
10 -
I played survivor last patch and it felt the exact same as it always has.
3 -
I already mADE THAT JOKE
6 -
My bad
4 -
survivors are constantly robbed of health states due to hit detection being worthless and hit boxes being stupid a good amount of the time. it is what it is and if you can't step back and wait for the survivor to quit spazzing so you can hit them then i dunno what to tell you. it's very easy.
2 -
Survivor main turned killer main here (mostly because my swf crew stopped playing). I certainly think the new movement looks goofier than before but I haven't noticed a difference in gameplay what so ever. Been playing the game a long time now at high ranks and have literally noticed no difference from then to now.
I suggest watching some videos and working on your gameplay. I think overall the devs are doing a wonderful job improving the game aside from a few issues with balance but that's to be expected in an asymmetrical game.
7 -
I remember this, too. The thing is, the killers that bothered to stay playing through all the BS in this game, of course they can deal with it now, it's all muscle memory and the game isn't that deep overall. Doesn't mean it's not a bit unfair and shouldn't have been something to contend with in the first place. It absolutely harms last gen console players and switch users.
5 -
Should have copyrighted it then 😝
1 -
So it's only ok when they cater to survivor players? Because they definitely made killers like Billy and Nurse less beginner friendly over time.
This is the Freddy nerf all over again.
3 -
Don't make me start spinning.
5 -
Yes. I do get 360d sometimes. But I have adapted, by 360ing as killer to hit them. But it took months to get the muscle memory down. 360ing is unacceptable if you ask me. It's like if you could avoid all the shots in an fps by jumping up and down like crazy. Except in DBD it's an easy fix but the devs don't want to expand the killer fov, which would solve so many problems including 360s.
7 -
Is that why Scott went YEARS without getting spun? So yeah I’d say really good killers very very rarely get spun. They know how to counter it. Pretty much anything in this game has a counter people are just too lazy to learn something new. They want it as vanilla as possible......Me SwInG wEaPoN mE sHoUlD gEt HiT.
8 -
Oh I agree with you, it's complete Jank and I and many killers have been saying this since before this thread even existed and we were still using the Steam forum's. Of course things have gotten better overall since then, but I still think the 360 is overall BS because it's not fair to newer killers and even for older killers, it just robs them of momentum when literally everything from the FOV (I still remember when they had the nerve to nerf that thing) to debris and level design, works against the killer.
But whatever, longer que times it is
6 -
If good killers don't get spun then why do you want 360s in the game so badly ? So you can ruin the experience of inexperienced killers ?
10 -
Faking a window vault or fast vaulting a pallet because of Spine Chill, yes the killer should miss because they swung too early and it literally isn't supposed to reach the survivor. But survivors who 360 are basically exploiting because the killer is close enough to hit them, but they abuse bad killer fov, aim dressing, and latency to get basically a free health state. And the base miss cooldown is so slow that, amazingly, sometimes that let's the survivor get to a pallet safely. If 360ing was a viable strat in any other game, it would get laughed out of the market, but here it's a "tech" that only works on "bad" killers.
5 -
No,pwease mistew.I have a beautifuw wife awnd 2 wondewfuw kids (´・ω・`)
3 -
It's fun for survivors. god forbid. And it's not op. What other justification do we need? None. You being triggered by it doesnt justify it to be taken away from us.
2 -
Can you spin killers? Consistently to the point of justifying threads like this? No really I'd love to know.
And please, as if killers didn't have things that take 0 skill cough insta hatchet, cough freddy, spirit, deathslinger cough cough cough.
1 -
what was the point of updating the animations if they just reverted most of them within 2 weeks.
I know the running injured animation looked kinda weird but it feels like they went back because people didn't like that they couldn't use old tricks anymore. and I do mean tricks because that's what they were.
4 -
It’s not even about the 360, seriously i thought it only on console killers because at red rank killer myself, I don’t get 360d at all maybe once in a blue moon and usually it was always console survivor and It doesn’t really work lol.
Just for how the animation looked and felt it was better on .1 than .2
2 -
Wait a second. I'm not allowed to spin a player not as good as me? As if matchmaking doesn't give me crappy team mates handing you wins for free ALL the time? As if killers don't get half their hits through pallets and lag? Yeah we'll just not talk about abusing that huh lol.
Uh huh, I'm okay spinning less experienced killers. Ofc, it's far more fun spinning good killers! If you're good and get spinned well, play better next time!
0 -
If you are better than the killer you verse then why the need to spin them? You could just... Uhmm.. You know... Loop them?
4 -
dude, I could and would have gotten used to the new animations but sitting through a couple of nights of trying to tolerate those broken hitboxes made me so sour about it that i was never going to bother getting used to those after that. I can't imagine myself as the only person turned off and burnt out enough at that point to just quit. they're gonna have to give people another month or two of the old fun movement capabilities before trying to remove them again after 3 weeks of those shitboxes. unless survivor queues shot up in length again, then it wouldn't hurt if a lot of them quit the game lol. but it wouldn't matter to me either since I'd be clearing upt he space on myps5 again and waiting for back 4 blood, evil dead or a way to be dead on steam
even console killers can step back and swing or stand still and wait. only the ability to fake a directional shift was really useful against anybody that wasn't stupid or that didn't have the reflexes of a downie. but the loss of that ability to fake and while seeing just how long and how much ground had been covered without even trying to fake any longer made it feel more janky than playing gothic in 2021 ... but I would have eventually learned to think differently while chased if those hitboxes hadn't me too pissed to ever want to do it after that bs. the loss of so much dopamine from the gameplayw ith an added source of frustration on top of it meant they would have needed to give me a paycheck to adjust to it even once those shitboxes were finally fixed if the movement stayed so janky

Can't loop in a dead zone. But sometimes, you can loop a rock, wall or tree and 360, which will make a good killer miss bc I can be quite unpredictable. It's all about those sweet mind games.
Also since when does better mean, you must have the ability to run them all game! Don't be so dramatic.
2 -
You have a very unique definition of the term "dramatic". I'm just curious. Don't really care that much about the fidget-spinner strategy.
2 -
Man imagine putting gameplay first instead of graphics none of the popular games right now do that... oh wait
2 -
Imagine bitching and shaming devs for actually reacting to player feedback.
Cry when the ignore everybody, cry more when they listen.
If enjoyed the entirety of the animation update you are definitely a minority opinion.
Btw, starting a THREAD with "imagine..." Screams entitlement 👀👍
2 -
My gtx 1660 is able to run this at a smooth solid 60 with settings above Ultra and a res of 120% in 1080x1920 resolution idk where your need for a 2080ti came from.
If I were to crank it down to default ultra + 100% red I could easily hit 144fps; I can now I just don't have a 144hz monitor
0 -
Then clearly you played about half a second of it and didn't watch any other gameplay lmao.
3 -
Turn transition was like the best thing about new locomotion, and they straight up cut it off for no reason.
And BTW! Imagine justifying non-correct model appearance to a player hitbox position and then whine about hatchet hitboxes.
5 -
Fidget spinner survivors have return.
3 -
That last line, I can tell you have actually played killer since the update unlike other people in here.
Theres no animation they just suddenly face another direction in the blink of an eye.
I’m managing to hit them so people can drop the “git gud” crap but:
1) this game looks awful now. Its especially worse because some of the animations are still there. So survivors have a kind of detailed running animation yet theres no frames of animation for any turning. Like a PS2 game theg just snap direction on the spot
2) DBD is not a fps. I shouldn’t have to spin 180 degrees when hitting to land a shot. This is only going to put off new players and console players.
It’s funny people say 360’s arent very good and only work against bad killers yet they beg and beg and beg for them back in. Its all because they just want a “sick 360” montage against rank 20 killers. The devs pander to them too and dump months of animation work just so they can permit people like Ayrun to continue to put out content bullying new players. Absolutely pathetic.
10 -
That’s the only logical conclusion. Survivors keep telling us 360’s don’t work yet remember they cried and cried and cried to the point that the developers just scrapped months of animation work to appease them.
But hey we can get more sIcK m0nTaGeZ like this dude!
If people don’t think that looks goofy as hell, low budget and janky and is ultimately a bad look for the game then they really are willing to hurt the game just for the sake of having another second chance added to their ever growing list of second chances.
There’s a lack of killers in the game and if I was someone who hadn’t heard of DBD and saw that it would sure as hell put me off ever playing the game. It looks like the kind of cheap trash you’d see in Unity asset flips on the steam store
5 -
Ah you’re one of those people. “Killers I dont like take no skill” so yeah an entitled survivor then.
lmao at naming deathslinger. Good killers dont get spun but deathslinger takes no skill....lmao. You realize deathslinger requires far more consistent aiming all game than hitting a simple 360 right? Sure as hell takes more skill than holding W and hitting space bar
4 -
I hate the new updates. Yes the graphics look better, but for some reason for me, it's more difficult to see. Or am I the only one with this issue? I usually play killer, so I don't know if it's the same as survivor. But it literally hurts my eyes.
0 -
That's not entirely true. The devs did not scrap months of work to appease anyone, they took the feedback given and adjusted them and the conclusion has to be that they changed them as they were clearly not working as intended.
How do we know this?
The statement they made regarding the new animations that specifically stated that the new animations would not affect movement in any way. They did not intend to remove the fast movements so it should be no surprise to see them fixed.
It's a game and some killers such as Billy, demo, deathsliger and huntress etc are designed around the possibility of dodging hits when using their power which means fast movements.
360's may look goofy but it's a game and not something to be taken seriously. Its the game you choose to play and these have been around since 2016. Like most have said 360's aren't hard to hit by either stepping back or not lunging and doing a quick hit.
7 -
I laughed. I laughed a lot. If only life threatening injuries, like a chainsaw to the back, could be healed in full by a prolonged 'there there'.
1 -
Yeah, it's almost like BHVR needs to fix Console FPS
3 -
The old movement felt better, the new movement feels worse. That's what it boils down to. Not many people cared if it looks "goofy", who the hell cares about that? It was fluid and felt good and the new animations felt terrible, that's all that matters. That matters more than how something looks. Usually the more "realistic" a game's movement is, the worse it feels to play (and almost every new big AAA game that comes out confirms my beliefs on this).
Korean back-dashing in Tekken, wavedashing in games like Melee and Marvel Vs Capcom, or bunny-hopping in FPS games look pretty stupid, but they feel nice to use and have their place in their respective games. Survivor movement in DbD has 360s and moonwalking which, while they're not nearly as integral to gameplay as the mechanics mentioned above, they're still a small part of what makes DbD feel fun to play for a lot of people.

😕 I really dunno why the Google app alerted me to this thread, I quietly gave up on the game in January...for those that are still addicted or "pot committed" because of "I've put this many hours in and spent this much money on shiny worthless aesthetics" mentality; you'd be really surprised how easy it is to just change to seeing the game as something you play casually and then get more and more casual until you barely think about it....the less you play the weirder it gets how much the community gnashes their teeth about awful problems with thr game while still playing it so much...anyway, waste your time however you like..
1 -
That's an outright lie. You did not get every killer adept just to quit completely because of 360ing. And I highly doubt you're a rank 1 survivor either. I literally just started playing killer recently, on console, and even I can counter 360s. It's called being patient with your swing. It's not that difficult. From what I understand reading through this thread, no decent killers worry about 360ing. Stop lying to prove a point.
