In-game Mic Chat in DBD IDEA

I’ve been pondering this idea for a while. Mic chat between killers and survivors (not survivors with other survivors). I think this could be fun if implemented correctly and can lead to a more social gaming experience and lower the frustration of playing killer and increase the fun and immersion of survivor.

I realize there are several things that need to be taken into consideration for this work.

My idea is to utilize localized (proximity) game chat. So the killer’s mic can only be heard in his terror radius at a reduced volume of 50%, of which increases to normal volume as the survivor gets closer inside the killer’s TR. The killer’s mic would sound mono so direction can not be determined. For survivors talking to the killer there would be no change in volume and again mono so direction can not be analyzed by the killer.

For stealth killers or killers with the undetectable status effect, I would recommend mic chat work at 4 meters while undetectable. That way the sastifaction of jump-scaring a survivor could remain without ruining stealth hits and grabs.

Also I think mic chat from a survivor should be muted when downed, picked up, or on the hook.

TL;DR add proximity chat to dbd between killers and survivors.
