If you still think the Clown's antidote is bad, then you're just not using it correctly.
To anyone who still says Clown is a relatively bad killer, and think the antidote is a waste of time. Watch this video that Otzdarva made about three weeks ago to at least get a general idea as to how it works. And Otz highlights some very good points before the antidote was added, there was times as Clown where you could hit the survivors at the right time with tonic and still not be able to get them if they vaulted a window or still got to a safe pallet in a safe loop. But the antidote basically fixes this issue entirely, and having free 125% movement speed for five seconds in a chase isn't bad and can be extended with add ons. It honestly comes down to you as the player, to understand how to use the antidote effectively. You have to know the activation time really well, you have to know when and to not use it, and most importantly I cannot stress this enough make sure to not let the survivors get a free speed boost. When you're in a chase with a survivor always remember to antidote first, and then tonic after. This will also show why Clown is the superior killer over Freddy when it comes to chasing, and even Doctor in my honest opinion. This is just something I felt like sharing, I wanna critique a certain video at some point here on the forums letting everyone know how to not play Clown.

It's not that its bad, its that its so situational and saves so little actual time that its just disappointing. Clown still plays practically identical, still countered by dropping the pallet early and forcing a reload, except now he can waste his bottles to also give the survivors a buff.
Yeah, most people are wasting the bottles for map traversal over using it at loops, but the time spent throwing, switching and eventual (unavoidable) reloads make it practically even out the time saved/lost.
I've been watching some of Otz road to 50 wins for Clown and the times he used the antidote to try and get a play at a pallet before the drop, he could have just gotten a trade for in less time and taken the pallets power away.
All in all I'm incredibly disappointed that after all this time waiting, this is what the devs thought Clown needed.

I still think they are pretty bad. They can make some unsafe loops more unsafe, but won’t do anything special at really safe loops like jungle gyms or the shack.
The survivor throws the pallet and that’s that. But you wasted extra time and bottles mixing the gases when you could have just used a purple and they probably would have camped the pallet anyways because you are clown.
It also takes a long time to set them up, making them not very useful on indoor maps for mobility.
They can be decent with addons but those are addons that would make the (far superior) purple bottles even better. Hitting someone with a bleach + ether bottle is devastating and it’s only if someone is camping an unsafe loop that you have time to set up both gas types. But it’s an unsafe loop against clown so chances are you could have just used more purples for the same hit anyways.

I don't the antidote is bad per say. I just think the use cases where the antidote will make a difference are very small. Doesn't help that using both antidote and tonic at a loop use half of Clown's base ammo.

its not bad its just not good
23 -
imagine using a killer who has 4 bottles and has to reload when you can teleport through walls or go invisible
8 -
Mah man, this guy gets it. People say its "underwhelming" because it doesn't make you move like billy, but those tiny situational bursts of speed can mean ending a chase significantly sooner, getting to a hook or gen just in time to contest it, you can throw at your feet before you pick up to increase your carrying speed, its great for catching up to a survivor in the open who is good at dodging tonics, etc.

Seems like everyone does like to jump on the bandwagon that Clown is bad, all just cause a certain streamer says it that it automatically means that they're right. Quite pathetic how some people use streamers opinions as facts, instead of coming up with their own.
2 -
I wouldn't say bad, just tedious. One bad throw, and you reward survivors, waste a bottle/s, or get nothing from it. You're micromanaging something that really shouldn't need to be micromanaged.
4 -
You only waste your bottles if you're just spamming through them instantly, which I've seen people still tend to do. I currently just started watching Otz 50 win Clown streak, so this is gonna be enjoyable for me to watch.
0 -
I honestly don't think there is such thing as wasting bottles on Clown unless you're spamming through them without even thinking
0 -
But the three second reload makes up for that
0 -
Still better at chasing than Freddy in my honest opinion
0 -
It can help on Midwich against survivors who do the whole running forward thing, but I still wouldn't be trying to use it for map traversal until I know I've pretty much won.
0 -
so you get 4 bottles default freddy gets 8 or 9 blood traps default. he can set them up in advance. The only thing clown can do is get a hit at killer shack (if they dont just run)
1 -
It is very good in some cases, but against any decent survivor who knows how to deal with Clown, you will likely never get to use it. It is definitely not bad at all though.
0 -
You know I would like to ask the devs the thought process of giving survivors speed up from Clown's antidote bottles, might do that for their next Q&A.
0 -
Freddy has to place his slowdown, while Clown can just throw his slowdowns right at you. I even did an experiment the other night between the two as to who can perform much better on the new Game map, and Clown did much better compared to Freddy.

If you want to convince people then please show some actual gameplay that clearly shows the uses of the antidote.
Would be better than the video from Otz
4 -
I'll have to look through some videos I've clipped, of course I would use gameplay that I'm satisfied with.

I agree, I've ended chases WAY faster with the antidotes. Clown's anti-loop ability is 10 times better after the rework, he was intended to be a strategic killer and BHVR finally managed to make him even more strategic.
1 -
Not arbitrarily because you have to reload and if you didn't have a critical need for a speed boost then it cancels out. But if you have a specific, time sensitive situation happen (IE tinkerer goes off, you see someone running to unhook, gotta reach the exit/hatch first) I see no reason to not utilize antidote. I think of it as borrowing time from a later point in the game (when you decide to reload) to do something marginally faster now
1 -
The problem is that it made him better at something he was ready good at. You still play him in the same boring way and play against him in the same boring way. He's antiskill and antifun
1 -
The problem with Clown that I've found after playing him for a few years, is that his power only goes so far.
I'm not going to pretend that in the matches where I've faced really good teams as Clown that I played flawlessly in them. But those matches were always insanely one sided even with top tier slowdown and chase perks in play. And I know what I'm doing as Clown, I'm not one of those throw bottles directly at the survivor thats 16+ meters away 2 hook Clowns. I could make optimal plays with my bottles and make sure to get at least 1 hit off each, and chases would still take too long in comparison to gens being done.
If the survivor is aware that the pallet they are at is safe when dropped, the Clown has already lost that skirmish.
Clown can get downs, yes. He just takes way too long against a good player with a surplus of pallets. I still enjoy playing him, just disappointed at this pathetic excuse for a rework.
3 -
Clown is decent but not as good as freddy imo. Freddy can spam his blood pools slowing the survivor everytime they walk on it. Clown however still has to throw the bottles and if you're using the antidote with tonic bottles then you've just wasted 2 bottles thats half of your bottle gone in one chase. Freddy however has 10 blood pools he can place immediately. He would be stornger if the antidote and tonic both had their separate bottle capacity then hed definitely be stronger. Usually though i don't really go by streamers/youtubers say they could've clipped a good match and uploaded imo.

“It’s that it’s so situational”
I’m pretty much finding a use out of it out of most situations...
How fast Clown can you injure or down now is staggering when comparing just one tonic to now a tonic PLUS being Invigorated.
0 -
How much does The Clown pay you guys?!
11 -
I’m pretty much finding a use out of it out of most situations...
Then PLEASE show some clips.
I'm sure it would help a lot of people to understand the value of the antidote
2 -
Nope. Garbage killer. Garbage rework.
8 -
It's ironic you use an Otzdarva video to prove your point, if you've seen him going for the 50 winstreak with Clown the past week he barely uses the bottles himself.
They can be useful in some situations but overall the Clown update fixes none of his weaknesses that have plagued him for years and he was hardly terrible in chase before so it's not like these were an essential update. Most people tend to agree the rework was a huge flop and even Otz has struggled to make clown work, over 5k hours and he's having to hard camp, tunnel and rely on the pure luck of devour hope to make him work.
9 -
99% of situations where you can use the antidote at loops the tonic can do the same without waiting for the cloud to activate.
4 -
The thing with the Otz vid is that he's showing off uses for the yellow bottle in ideal situations. The reality is that these ideal situations are not that common.
4 -
It's odd considering I skipped to the beginning-middle of his latest VOD and 5 seconds in he throws a yellow bottle :P
You'd be surprised, actually.
0 -
Otz really struggles to present uses for the antidote. I feel he was obligated to make it. Its obvious it's not very useful.
5 -
This is totally incorrect
0 -
You should really start to show something then
People won't believe it if they don't see any examples
8 -
@camperlivesmatter clown is just fun to play with.. I red rank with him.. but still have to accept that is more difficult to tag on good loopers than spirit, nurse, or ph,.. so I would not call him bad.. but is definitely not on the good killer list.. he's OK and fun..
But depends a lot on who you play against..

gettin some heavy vibes of the "clow is not weak, just underated" thing,
3 -
I mean....he is better with the antidote bottle than he was without. Sure.
I don't know what it is with the clown mains on the forums and just aggressively coming at everyone with every opinion they have though. Yall need to take a breath.
4 -
What's your point? I've watched lots of his clown games the past week, in some games he rarely uses them. It's mostly just 1 bottle used for getting across the map after a hook. Sometimes he uses them at loops, but the slowdown bottles with add ons worked at the same loops previously anyway.
I'll tell you what's even funnier, in one game he got destroyed as Clown. Dead Hard to pallets played a big part of it. He would have literally been better with old clown and his exhaustion bottles than new clown and the antidotes he rarely used or needed on that map.
The rework was a failure and is in some ways a nerf, almost everyone agrees but the people balancing the game are so disconnected from the playerbase Almo actually considers this update a success. Think about that.
1 -
Just gotta ask, what is it with Clown mains constantly posting about how he's good or underrated?
4 -
hes fun bbut against actual teams you will get destroyed no chance at all no discussion thats it
2 -
It's weird as hell imo. I think it's just some people wanting to be counter-culture.
3 -
We're on strike at the moment, because we're tired of our big boi getting disrespected.
3 -
maybe if everyone accepted hes still bad hed get buffed in like 2 years
0 -
Except have you watched his 50 win streak on Clown? How often does he actually use the Antidote?
0 -
I honestly have no other point other than how useful yellow bottles are in safe loops. You just gotta try playing him first, get used to using the yellow bottles and you'd see what I mean.
At a glance it looks useless with that 10% movement speed boost, but I've ended chases/loops pretty easily with that speed boost. Combine that with the purple bottles and the speed difference is HUGE. If they pre-drop the pallets, you can abuse that by getting rid of shack pallet or even being able to use Spirit Fury.
Clown looks and feels basic but he's actually not bad at all, just takes time to understand him. And yeah, while the update was awful, the rework was pretty good IMO.
1 -
https://youtu.be/5I_YgWpqdHs right around 3:55 is a good example for the antidote but this whole vid was kinda memeing with potatoes
0 -
@danielmaster87 I feel better now that I know that I red rank this garbage killer.. I mean, I'm not as good with it as with Spirit or nurse, but still a red rank..
0 -
Do you seriously think red rank means u are good? Lol rank is a joke in this game.
2 -
I've not faced many Clowns since his rework, and those few that I have faced have not used the antidote bottles. At least not once in any chase they had with me. Its the same old Clown gameplay.
Unlike Bubba, Doc etc when they had their reworks Clown doesn't feel stronger to face.
