“I don’t want him nerfed to the ground. I just want him to be more enjoyable to play against”

Ah if I had a dollar for everytime I heard that.

Freddy isn’t very good at the highest level we’ve seen this time and time again. Everytime a killer has something going for them though survivors want them nerfed because they don’t want the challenge. Part of “more fun to play against” usually involves “I want to escape a lot more against this killer”

So we end up where killers have crippling weaknesses or feel clunky or awful to play due to the changes. Look at how much people stop using killers once they’re nerfed, not because they’re weaker but because something about them makes them less fun to play, The twins thread the other day was a good example. Here’s a killer barely anyone wants to play, it can be really hard to hit survivors when they’re spinning around on the spot at mach speed thanks to devs bringing back old movement, one miss and Victor gets destroyed, hit a survivor next to another one and victor gets destroyed, yet the survivors were saying it should be even easier to destroy Victor because survivors always want the killer to suffer such huge punishment for a single miss. Imagine that, taking a killer nobody wants to play and ensuring that the last 5 people still playing twins will stop using them too.

Next you talk about skill ceilings and how Freddy needs skill. When I face rank 1 survivors they hold W thats it. Hold E, stealth with iron will, co-ordinate the gens with voice comm, all of this along with the fact that the game is factually unbalanced....why dont survivors ever require skill? Why is it ok for survivors to have low skill gameplay but not killers?

Everytime a killer gets nerfed the number of people playing that killer drops. If you havent noticed killer numbers are at an all time low right now. A lot of people arent moving on to other killers they’re just ditching the game altogether.

Its funny how so many survivors are quick to call for killer nerfs yet so many survivors are asking why queue times are so long or saying they don’t want to switch to killer because it’s not fun. Its like everyone wants killer to be the whipping boy, to be the comic relief for the game yet nobody is willing to take on that role themselves they just expect that other people will play it.

I'm not worry about queue times. And I want a pay to win freddy nerf.

  • FattiePoobum
    FattiePoobum Member Posts: 293

    Exactly my point

lf you nerf a killer to the point where only the best can play them, then you rarely see them again.

  • Dizzy1096
    Dizzy1096 Member Posts: 918

Exactly. If you’re not bothered about queue times then of course you want him nerfed, it’s win/win for you.

Also calling freddy pay to win lmao. Lets see you get 50 wins in a row with him how about that?

  • valvarez4
    valvarez4 Member Posts: 868

Do you think 50 escapes in a row against him is easier? If the answer is not, then he deserved a nerf.

  • Dizzy1096
    Dizzy1096 Member Posts: 918

That depends. Solo? Probably not. 4 man swf? Incredibly easy. 3 man swf? Pretty easy. 2 man swf? Doable but all depends.

This is a matchmaking/ranking problem not a balance problem. Its only hard for solo because red rank is full of potatoes. Get 4 good solo players together and Freddy would be easy.

  • valvarez4
    valvarez4 Member Posts: 868

Sorry, but I see more potatoes killers in red ranks than survivors. But so many killers are so easy and powerful they think they're semi gods playing the game.

it'd require him to create a setup before being able to loop, instead of just spamming his snares around loops whenever and wherever he wishes.

Except thats not really what happened. All they did was remove insta saw, which carried bad players and just encouraged assrevving. Overheat was unnecessary but a common offering all but removes it. I've seen 2 Billys overheat ever.

The Nurse nerf only made her harder to learn. I've spoken to several dedicated Nurse mains and they said it had no effect on their playstyle.

Also no one in their right mind would try to argue that 5 blink Nurse was even remotely fair. Literally a triple second chance add on combo.

People stopped playing Billy for the same reason no one learns Nurse and people complained about Blight week 1. Most killers nowadays don't want to learn a killers quirks, they want to throw on 4 perks with minimal effort and win the majority of matches because lolsoloqueue. Look at the Spirit and Freddy pick rates.

  • FattiePoobum
    FattiePoobum Member Posts: 293

How can you say that’s not what happened?

l have seen no Billy’s today or yesterday.

You are missing the point, the changes they made to him have made him unplayable for the majority of players.

those addons may have carried bad players but at least people were able playing him

now no one plays him except the more skilled player.

this isn’t about being elitist it’s about killers being viable for everyone.

  • gibblywibblywoo
    gibblywibblywoo Member Posts: 3,772

You aren't seeing Billies because people played him for an easy ride. Not because they were good at him or liked his power.

Think back to those billies you used to play. How many of them used charge speed add ons or patrolled hook whilst revving? Probably a good 90%. You can still play Billy just fine you just need to learn him.

The ranking system and this new MMR exist for the very reason you're describing. Bad at Billy? Well you will most likely play against bad survivors to even it out.

"Unplayable" LOL. You're the type of player to call a FADC into super "cheating" in a fighting game.

I disagree on Spirit. A SWF can't do much against a good Spirit that can consistently end chases in about 16 seconds tops. But maybe its just because I had been playing for a while when she came out. If someone started DBD today I admit it would take them a while to understand her but that goes for most killers. Once you have some knowledge of survivor habits she'll become very easy.

There is a high reward for learning Nurse, its that the game becomes unloseable. I know a few players who actually stopped playing her outside of private matches as she just turns the game into a joke. A good Nurse is very impressive and takes an incredible amount of knowledge of how good survivors play aswell as fast reactions.

That said, knowing that thats whats waiting for me if I learn her is actually whats keeping me away, feels like just cheating yourself out of the main aspects of DBD gameplay.

  • FattiePoobum
    FattiePoobum Member Posts: 293

    Okay have your way

lets not let the the casuals play a killer that was fun.

only the elistists sweating it out in the grandma’s basement should be able to play him.

which l would say you’d be one of them practicing away at DBD tournament level.

  • Dizzy1096
    Dizzy1096 Member Posts: 918

It's interesting how many people want to say certain killers are OP and take no skill, yet so many people are unwilling to play the role of killer themselves. You would think if there were pick up & win killers, everyone would be wanting to play killer? just slap on BBQ (another op perk right) and it's ez bloodpoints with win after win after win and you'll have all your survivors p3 50 all perks in no time.

    Funny how that doesn't happen.

Nice victim complex and disregarding the majority of the posts.

  • gibblywibblywoo
    gibblywibblywoo Member Posts: 3,772

If you don't enjoy killer then you don't enjoy killer. Simple as that. Difficulty has nothing to do with it. Several of the friends I used to SWF with just didn't enjoy the gameplay loop. I have a few friends who don't play killer anymore just because they find it boring.

  • Dizzy1096
    Dizzy1096 Member Posts: 918

I guess that's why in Hexy's tournament for example last year we saw the spirits running NOED, camping and struggling to get a few hooks every game. Perhaps those players that had practiced her religiously and had thousands and thousands of hours in the game just weren't good with her.

I'm sure you could have done much better.

  • gibblywibblywoo
    gibblywibblywoo Member Posts: 3,772

Someone whose been playing this game for 4 years now and is sick of it becoming easier and easier to the point of being braindead and boring. There's a reason veterans are leaving left and right.

  • gibblywibblywoo
    gibblywibblywoo Member Posts: 3,772

Yes, lets talk about the competitive 8000 hour SWF teams that literally makeup less than 1% of red rank players. Awesome. Good arguament.

We are all aware that this games balance is a joke when those players play. But guess what. They are almost non existant. Please tell me when you last saw one of those teams in pubs. I havent for close to 2 years now.

  • Dizzy1096
    Dizzy1096 Member Posts: 918

Well that's funny, you've instantly backpeddled.

You don't need to be an 8000 swf team to do the same kind of tactics. Rush gens, split pressure, try to lead the killer to far edges of the map to waste time. This is how most swf play at rank 1 anyway. It's not hard to imitate the general strategies you see in tournaments.

Also funny how you've set this narrative where the tryhard Spirits are a problem but swf are fine, but when you mention good swf you say it's rare. Well ok the 8000 hour tryhard sit on dbd all day Spirits are a rare minority so we should disregard them too right? most spirits I see are potatoes that rely on NOED and tunnel to get kills. I guess it's not a problem.

  • FattiePoobum
    FattiePoobum Member Posts: 293

Okay so that makes you the authority then l see

l have been playing since beta, and perhaps these veterans you speak of have moved on because they found a better game.

You know new games do come out every now and again.

Just because you have played for 4 years doesn’t mean your opinions are any better than anyone else.

  • gibblywibblywoo
    gibblywibblywoo Member Posts: 3,772

I backpedalled meanwhile you've flip flopped between balancing around 1% being a good idea and bad idea. Shocker

  • Dizzy1096
    Dizzy1096 Member Posts: 918

You seem to be trying to set a narrative where the game is full of tryhard 8000 hour metabuild Spirits vs average swf so that you can claim Spirit is OP.

    1) That's not true at all. There are plenty of swf groups with thousands of hours, and plenty of potato or inexperienced Spirits

    2) Even if that was true, wouldn't we be expecting an 8000 hour tryhard with a meta build to beat a casual group of friends having a chill game together?

Or are you saying that a casual swf should have the ability to beat an 8000 hour tryhard who plays DBD religiously? because it seems that's how people like yourself want the game balanced. (and to a degree it already is)

    OBX Member Posts: 854

It’s almost as if someone like sonicfox who is basically regarded as the best mortal kombat player in the world shouldn’t be rewarded for the time and effort he puts in. Maybe because he is super skilled , MK devs should make it so that me as a casual who doesn’t play that much should have a “fair” and “fun” game if I play against him. Terrible logic

MMR will start putting casual survivors against casual killers and it will all wash itself out. People out far too much focus on individual killers as opposed to the real problem: dbd devs absolute inability to match players appropriately.

  • Firellius
    Firellius Member Posts: 4,402

That's probably because the killer role is generally less fun to play. Survivors have a lot more gameplay elements to work with than killers do. They've got totems, gens, chests and rescues, while the killer can only slug. (And damage gens, but... That's not really much to go on)

I mean, I have played killer. It can be moderately enjoyable depending on the killer you play. But I much more enjoy sneaking around, and getting a safe hook rescue is very satisfying. Even if killers tend to come out ahead in most games, judging by the statistics.

None of that takes away from the fact that Freddy is 'just an M1 killer' and still manages to get the highest kill rate across the board. People like to prop up Spirit and Nurse as actual OP killers, but... I rarely see anyone complain about -them-. And neither of them perform anywhere near as well as Freddy does. (With Nurse having the lowest kill rate)

Freddy is only good against bot survivors.

So, the ones complaining that he needs a nerf...bot spotted.

This is what all of us that want even balance should hope for. It will force the devs to either abandon high level players or stop balancing the game around people who are average.

I sincerely hope the game devolves into exactly that. It won’t be fun for a bit, but the devs ineptitude regarding matchmaking and balance around low level play will be on full display. The stats they throw around are meaningless in the current matchmaking

  • Zozzy
    Zozzy Member Posts: 4,759

They won't put it in after the last test. all the F.W. and twitchers complained that they need to try and it won't be fun any more. Got to have the r20 bully montages for youtube and all that.

Oh it’s going in lol. The devs have proven that if they spend money on something it goes live. (Just look at the ridiculous UI).

just to be clear, I want MMR in the game. It will even the matchmaking out

The devs confirmed that a nerf is coming, but honestly can't confirm when it's coming. I just had a freddy with the red brush and the repair slowdown add-ons with thana/pop/bbq/tinkerer on Lerry's. The game lasted 15-18 minutes and it was so ######### boring. I managed to escape through hatch and post game we get a "ggez" from the rank one freddy main. Everytime we 85% a gen, he was there to stop us. Easily the most boring game I've ever played.

So, I want the Freddy nerf as much as you do, maybe even more because freddy makes me wanna puke. But I don't have a specific time that the nerf is going to hit the ptb or the live servers

Freddy’s nerf I think is coming in April in the next mid chapter patch. Alongside Demos addon rework and power buffs

  • valvarez4
    valvarez4 Member Posts: 868

Tinkerer activates at 70%, only 24 secs. before you finish the gen to teleport to you. Killers main tell you this is fine

  • GeneralV
    GeneralV Member Posts: 11,348

Just because you had a boring match, doesn't mean that something should get nerfed. Otherwise I would be crying for Ghostface to get nerfed to the ground. But I don't do that, because it is not right.

Freddy has been my main ever since I first started playing, prior to his rework. I guarantee you that he is not OP and definitely does not requires a nerf.

  • CLAUDETTEINABUSH
    CLAUDETTEINABUSH Member Posts: 2,210

Well, I'm not the only one by far that thinks that freddy is the most boring character to face. In red ranks, the only Freddy's I see are forever freddy's and I just wanna dc the moment I see the clock around my name.

I don't ask for a complete rework, I just want to not fall asleep in a gen since it takes 3 hours to complete, while my team is forced to waste all the pallets

I might be mistaken as I haven’t played the game in several months, but I hear survivor queue times are increasing. This will likely lead to a delayed nerfed Freddy.

He does however need something that increases his really really low skill floor.

  • solidhex
    solidhex Member Posts: 891

The fact that he has a significantly higher kill rate than the average should be enough information to at least look into him. You can't explain a nearly 10% higher kill rate just with randomness (like hook suicides and DC's).

Imho he would be fine if they would delete one of his power aspects. You can't have an easy-to-play killer with mobility, chase power, stealth and slowdown/ stalling. It's too much. I can't remember the last time i escaped against him in solo q and really everyone i know hates him. He carries a lot of mediocre players right now that just want easy 4k's every game. I don't even know how you can have fun with this killer, he is boring and his power is characterless.

Right now he is a jack of all trades. Give him more personality (make him a stealth killer or make him a chase killer or...). For example, if you would delete his teleport, he would still be able to end chases a bit faster, have a bit of stealth and a bit of stalling through falling asleep, but he had better counterplay especially on bigger maps. Or delete his snares/ chase power so he would still be loopable like many other M1 killers, but he still has his stalling and mobility and stealth.

Don't rely on it. I've heard a lot of talk about Freddy becoming a 110% killer, but that's barely a fix when he still has ridiculous map pressure, the ability to spam spaghetti-o's on the floor to bring you to a snail's pace, pretty much complete invisibility when awake, and an innate counter to BT.
