Killer FOV is terrible without shadowborn
I don't know how anybody can play with normal fov. I still can't figure out why they haven't increased the default fov. Without it, it just feels like everything is so close up in your face, and it makes me have motion sickness.

Yes, it is terrible and it is for a reason.
Limited FoV makes it easier for survivors to avoid killers.
It is fine, though for some reason I preferred release version FoV or rather PoV.

The fov was made small so that survivors could juke a killer easier

Yes, but at the same time some people get motion sickness from everything being so close up to their face, they feel forced to run a perk just to counter that.

Yeah that’s fair. Dbd didn’t really care about certain things like colour blindness or motion sickness

Well, they do. If some random dud with a checkmark next to their twitter name says something bad, they instantly drop their stuff and go into emergency mode and focus on implementing that feature in few hours to appease to Twitter gods...

Without Shadowborn I legit feel like I have a ball and chain around my ankle. Killers, especially Huntress, feel incredibly slow to the point a 90 year old granny in a rascal scooter can outrun killers. Whenever I play Huntress without Shadowborn I legit can’t catch up to survivors. It makes it all the more infuriating with the survivor animations looking like they are just going for a brisk jog and I can’t even catch up to them.

I kind of got used to it. lol, I used to play on terrible loptop where I had to fiddle hardcore with the setting to get it to run smoothly. Playing killer was like looking at an oil painting that got smeared in mud, so I became heavily reliant on noticing movement + sound. Man, when I got a proper set up, my brain couldn't understand what I was even looking at the first couple of games. sensory overload.

I personally don't have that much of a problem, even tho I lose survivors mid chase. That's more of a pc problem rather than fov tho.
I do believe that shadowborn is a lot better, but I feel it's a waste of a perkslot to allow me to play a bit better. Also it's so hard to get over shadowborn

I figured Shadowborn would cause more motion sickness than the default. As you feel faster with a wider FoV.

What was the most baffling was the dev response when colorblind accessibility features got brought up. Whenever I search for this topic most of their response is passive aggressive garbage and irritation. "We know already! Telling us again is not gonna make go any faster!" I'm guessing there might be some frustration if you build your game around terrible FOV and not being able to see anything.
The Canada Media Fund is involved with this game, right? At least in the US, whenever a government program gets involved in a project they have to take into account a certain level of accessibility from the start. For example, color contrast/overall readability. I'm guessing the leafs are not as strict with this, or the devs hoped they wouldn't notice.
VVVV - That reminds me. I remember a while back a couple of people were concerned about possible seizures caused by the very common excessive flashlight clicking and blindness effect. There was no dev response, and people in the forum just made fun of them. JuSt PlAy AnOtHeR gAmE. The lack of empathy from the makers of the game and community is amazing.

Imo they should do one of two things.
Either increase killer FOV, or more preferably, make it so flashlights don't work on you outside of your FOV.
It's so unfair you can flashlight blind a killer who can't even actually see the light, it makes no sense.

I agree, this is a big reason why I use shadow born so often in my matches. It's so irritating having such a restricted FOV.

People are worried about the balance implications and honestly it wouldn't be that big of a deal really. The game "Feels" better with shadowborn, that's why people run it, not because it really gives them much advantage.
However shadowborn does at least show you your actual area where you can be flashlight blinded, so it feels like the proper fitting "Spot" for FOV in reality.
The game is getting older, and the current FOV is showing that. I think they honestly should at least consider testing increasing the FOV by 15 even if just for a month, make it not stack with shadowborn or monitor and just see if it really affects balance much at all.
