I can’t main Spirit anymore
I just watched my friend on his Twitch play a match as Spirit and bullied those poor survivors with 4 gens left. He doesn’t even play killer at all, only plays survivor. All he had to do was listen and put his headphones to good use and it was inevitable that he would destroy them.
Seriously, this killer is in desperate need of an overhaul. It’s too easy to play with no counterplay for survivors. I’m sorry to say it but my love for Spirit has been driven away lately and I don’t feel like calling myself a Spirit main anymore. I’m not sure who I’ll main now but I think I might just play a variety for a bit and if I do play Spirit again, I’ll just run BBQ for bloodpoints and three atrocious perks to compensate for how brain dead this killer is.
P.S. Yui Kimura is my waifu now and it’s gonna stay that way.

I myself have been struggling vs this killer, I might just play her nonstop for awhile to learn to counter her. Or Atleast hold her for a gen or two...

In my opinion, the harder to play the Killer, the more fun it is except obviusly weak stuff like Plague or Trickster.

Legion is pretty fun to play even if he is a pretty bad killer, although you'll probably get hate for playing them.

Of course he is! Freddy is perfect. Trust me, give him a chance. You won't regret it.
However, Blight is an interesting choice. I didn't play him much, but it was a fun experience.

Never thought I'd see the day. Maybe you just need a break from Spirit, playing the same killer will eventually get tiring and you'll have played so many games with that killer than you start going full autopilot which isn't usually fun. Did the same with Myers and I had to stop playing him for a while.
At least you moved on to the true queen of DbD.

If your friend only plays survivor, picked up killer for once and got the 4k he was obviously against rank 20 survivors. Any killer can get the 4k at rank 20. When i first started this game i got 4k with 110% speed killer without using my ability.
Spirit is not that braindead and easy to play. Source: the thousands of baby spirits I’ve ran for 5 gens. Spirit does not dominate that hard at the lower ranks, newer players actually have an easier time with Trapper because he’s faster.
Rank 1 is the same. When you watch good players go at it, or watch a tournament, or a 1 vs 1 with very good players, survivors actually last quite a while. There wouldnt be spirit 1 vs 1s if she won every chase in 5 seconds.
This is reflected in her killrates. They aren’t out of the ordinary and she has never had the highest killrate indicating that her performance is roughly in line with all other killers.
The idea that anyone can pick her up and win regardless of skill is hyperbole and slander. Stop drinking the r/deadbydaylight koolaid.

But remember, to understand the counterplay to Spirit you just need to play Spirit. The counterplay is there, just main her for a bit to understand what it is.

I think she needs a 1 sec. delay before exit phasing. In this sec. she can't move. This way she has to do something to 4k other than buy good headphones

Spirit isn't easy, most survivors are just bad. She actually asks for a tiny bit of skill out of the survivors. Spirit doesn't need a rework at all.

Well, I can understand this feeling. I played Spirit a lot at some point, but I dont enjoy playing her anymore. It just does not feel rewarding to get Downs with her, and I am not even running Stridor (I try to not run things which I dont like personally).
I have more fun with M1-Killers most of the time, the games are more difficult, but it feels more rewarding.

I used to main her but stopped when I started playing survivor more and realised how easy she is to win with and hopelessly boring she is to VS.
If I desperately want to farm bloodpoints with offerings I sometimes play her with BBQ and BPS but thats all really. Tend to skip her when doing roster rotations.

Y’all don’t get it. I understand he can 4k with other killers but if you just watched the game, he barely ever missed a phase. He probably would’ve 4ked with Oni or a Blight as well but he definitely would’ve made a ######### ton of mistakes because of how difficult those killers can be.
Eh that might be a little too harsh. I think she should have directional audio with harsher power recovery speed.
It’s kind of hard to adapt when you have no idea what she’s doing and she can hear you at all costs especially with Stridor.

I myself as well used to like playing Spirit, until yeah you clearly start seeing how easy she is and how she has no counterplay. Honestly after Freddy gets hopefully somewhat of his old mechanics back, I'd say Spirit needs to be on the list of killers who need to be looked at. Because her biggest issue has always been that you basically have to play guessing games just to make the right move, and if the Spirit you're going against has good ears then gg. There's simply nothing fair about that at all

She has some counterplay, but a lot of the time it comes down to guessing because of the stupid "no mindgame" mindgame. Just give her an obvious visual indicator that she's phasing.

I'm legit the same. I actually learnt how to play killer as Spirit. I had to relearn the game over again when I realised how BS she was, but it was worth it.

I guess because they nerfed her a few months ago. I mean, obviously she needs a Nerf and she will most likely get one in the future. I mean, if they nerf Billy, they will nerf Spirit as well.
But I would not expect anything anytime soon, the next Killers are Demo, Freddy and Huntress, so if anything, Spirit can only come after those three.

Personally, if I had to choose one first, it would be Freddy.
At least with Spirit games they're over relatively quickly.
I don't recall any nerf recently. There was the sound bug that was promptly patched.
Honestly I just want these killers to take a bit more time and effort to learn.
Freddys skill ceiling is practically absent, you run to a loop and place a snare for a free hit. There's nothing to learn with him. Spirit has the same problem but not to the same degree. It takes a few games, maybe watching a few videos and learning survivor habits but after that you basically become a god of death. I don't want any killers "nerfed" into being unusable, that would suck and dilute the killer variety in high rank games even further. And no one wants that, unless they're insane.

Even then, Spirit is a maybe. Only Nurse has a chance of winning every game.
For every other killer in the game some trials are unwinnable. That is not good design no matter how you try to spin it. Both sides should have a fair shot at winning

You’re talking about the highest level in this game possible. I’m sorry man but let me just say, ######### that level. I like DBD for being a casual game and the highest level that competes in tournaments is such a joke. The average player base can lose against any killer but will pretty much never win against Nurse or Spirit if they’re good which is a problem.

I mean let’s not mess about, Spirit is incredibly easy to play. Perhaps the easiest killer. She can run around at lightning speed whilst completely invisible with the only downside being she can’t see survivors, but she can still hear them, and see their scratch marks + blood (with addon.) So it’s almost no downside at all. Even if you can’t pop out right on top of a survivor, you’ll be close enough to catch up within a few seconds, even as a new player.

I know you're baiting but those 1% swfs barely exist nowadays, most left the game long ago. Nowadays they're about as common as a pro Nurse. Yes, we need more killers that can counter the top teams. But having a killer that basically has no counterplay is not the way to do it. Nurse, as strong as she is, does have counterplay. I don't see anyone complaining about Nurse.
The killer should be strong in the killer players hands, not the other way around.

But its easy to say most killers will never win against a good swf. I see many comprised of players with between 2000-6000 hours. You arent beating these games with a clown or a trapper. Umbra is a legendary huntress and even she says swf bullies huntress so she has to switch to spirit to compete.

I'm not saying that Spirit doesn't have bulls***t mechanics but c'mon... rank15... of course your friend is going to slaughter them but he could as well played no-blink-nurse or perkless clown or one-handed while cooking his dinner and the result would have been the same.
Sad thing is, matches like this might be what BHVR is balancing their game off.
