If you want J flicks removed then remove stretched res.
Personally I dont care for either to be removed but every valid arguement I have seen for removing J flicks can be applied to stretched. Even the people saying "J flicks is uncounterable" (which it very much isnt) that actually applies even more to stretched res. ATM the only valid excuse for removing J flicks is console cant do it but console cant use stretched res either.

Yep, I'm all for this, and everyone I know who wants j-flick removed also wants stretched res removed, and people who are fine with stretched also are fine with the j-flick.
Personally, I still think we should remove both
25 -
TBH I am fine with both if they make them a bit more accesible. Just making J flick possible ithout some crazy shenanigans with mouse and make stretched res and option without messing about in the files.

The j flick isn't an exploit though it's literally consoles hardware holding them back from having the same sensitivity. Stretched res needs to go though there's no excuse for that
0 -
Get rid of both
3 -
Remove both, both are unintentional and shouldn't be in the game.
11 -
But we all know devs won't do a ######### to address stretched res.
3 -
It is, by dictionary defintion, an exploit but please keep pretending it isn't.
4 -
That would be ideal Both shouldn't be a thing.
1 -
How exactly is it?
0 -
Sounds fair. I tried stretched res and it was kinda same, if you are good at the game it won't help you a lot. They should make the game to don't allow stretched res.
1 -
Console... hardware... holding back sensitivity???
4 -
Fine.

I'm p sure everyone who wants the j-flick removed want stretch res removed as well, including me.

Definitions
"In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers."
This is direct from Wikipedia; source.
"An exploit (known as "exploitive activity" by Blizzard) is a method of playing the game in a way not intended by the game developers to gain an advantage over other players."
This is direct from the WOW Wiki; source.
Let's apply both to the J-Flick:
Wikipedia definition
The use of a bug or glitches, game system, hit boxes, speed or level design etc.
It's a bug/glitch, as confirmed here and here by McLean.
"The Blight is not supposed to be able to do 180 [degree] turns. He has a turn restriction in place for a reason." (Second clip)
by a player to their advantage
The J-flick is used by players to gain an in-game advantage.
in a manner not intended by the game's designers.
McLean is, in fact, a game developer, and iirc was the lead developer on The Blight. As confirmed by him, again in those clips, this was unintended. "He has a turn restriction in place for a reason."
wow wiki definition
An exploit...is a method of playing the game in a way not intended by the game developers
Again, the player is playing the game in a method not intended by the developers, again check the clips.
to gain an advantage over other players.
If you can try to prove to me that performing a 180 flick doesn't grant you an in-game advantage over other players, by all means go right ahead. However, considering how it does then best of luck.
Conclusion
By the dictionary (or as close as you can get to a dictionary since both Oxford English, Oxford German, and Merriam Webbster have definitions in terms of exploitative actions and labour, not video games) definition of the word, the J-flick is an exploit. Apply the criteria to stretched-res too, and you'll get the same results.
But, again, please keep pretending it isn't.

Stretched Resolution is a setting, blights J flick is a bug. The developers would never agree with this, I wouldn't mind both being removed but you know how much the Devs determine balancing. They'll remove J flick but keep stretched resolution.
0 -
The thing is stretched has been confirmed as a exploit multiple times yet its still around 2-3 years after its founding. Kinda why people think its okay to use i guess since "the devs have known about it for years but havent fixed It" j-flicks a few months old but McLean is fixing it right now so.
1 -
Oh, I know, and Stretched is still an issue that should be complained about alongside J-flick. But pretending one, or both, aren't exploits when they clearly are is wrong. not_Queen explicitly confirmed that Stretched Resolution is an exploit on one of Tru3Ta1ent's streams, McLean has explicitly confirmed the J-Flick is not intended and a bug (and subsequently fits the definition of an exploit, implicitly confirming that it is an exploit). Both should, and must, be fixed.

Stretched has been there for many years but Im guessing we will get a J flick fix in the next hotfix
1 -
You'd hope so but I'm not entirely sure they'll fix either for a couple months. Fixing resolution scaling is easier said than done and if they just hard cap Blight's turn restriction for that first frame too it'll destroy what he plays like.
0 -
The Devs really dont care how he plays like, they managed to make his collosion even buggier in the last patch from my experience and I still cant play twins without getting numerous bugs each game.
0 -
Twins is just a disaster but this hotfix is in-line with BHVR's plans to look at their kit and make some adjustments so fingers crossed they'll get an update.
I can't comment on Blight's playability due to him making me incredibly nauseous but from watching ScottJund and hearing from Jackie then I've heard his height change was good, the collision change was not
0 -
Yeah the height cahnge was dope but somehow the collision was made buggier.
0 -
Yep both are unintended therefore they should be removed
4 -
I don't have an opinion on the J flick as I never looked up how it's done.
Stretched resolution, however, absolutely is an unfair advantage that should be fixed IF ITS POSSIBLE. I have my doubts it's possible though, given that it's achievable outside the game (certain TV's and monitors support it within their firmware, some video cards have it in their utilities).
So yes... fix it - but I'm tempering my expectations with the knowledge that it just might not be possible at all which is just sad.
0 -
It’s unintended but not really an exploit since it requires no exploiting to achieve. You can’t really call flicking your hand really fast an expoit since that happens all the time in normal conditions.
0 -
both needs to go since Pc players will always get an advantage compared to Consoles.
1 -
Thats just unavoidable though. PC will always have better frame, things like NVIDIA filters, custom icons, better controls for all of the ranged killers. PC will just forever be superior unfortunatly
0 -
Please man just stop and read for a second.
You're using a higher sensitivity on Blight or Oni. This allows you to turn well over the intended cap up to 180 degrees and beyond.
The reason why is because there is a frame in-between the rush and lunge parts of their powers where the camera has normal functionality, allowing these crazy angles.
It is NOT intended for you to actually use this frame to turn your camera 180+ degrees, something that can only be done on PC too. It's an oversight in their power design that people have figured out how to use to gain unintended outcomes with a killer power. There is a reason why Oni and Blight have their turning limited whilst in their powers.
It. Is. An. Exploit.
5 -
Sure, it will be better performance wise, but gameplay wise it should be the same without "exclusive" techs for one platform. EXPECIALLY if they aren't intended.

i want J flick removed and i want streched screen removed, both are exploits that the game is not balanced around or meant to be used in the game. PC player btw
3 -
Yeah I can agree with that but streteched has been for so long that I dont know if BHVR agrees
0 -
It's a dictionary definition exploit how can I make this clearer?! The exploiting part of the exploit is doing the flick?! It literally fits all of the categories are you okay???
1 -
Then they should disable those killers because I'm doing nothing to modify anything I'm simply playing a killer with my sensitivity up and getting called a cheater, I'm just not even playing those killers and sticking to my nurse because this community is ridiculous to insult someone for having a high sensitivity is absurd
1 -
Nobody's insulting you here. Maybe they are in-game Idk but that's just par for the course for multiplayer games. It's up to BHVR what they want to do about it, people are gonna BM and talk smack in the post-game chat regardless, not much we can do about either of those things.
