I don't think a single soul cares if you need to make it "seem like you are fighting back", I would rather being able to stay alive if I wanted to than die because a frame drop

You don't have to spam it that hard - it just requires a steady rythm of about 3 or 4 clicks a second. I know that doesn't help everybody and maybe not specifically the OP, but it may help other readers coming in behind.

I do agree with Phasmamain though that it's not very accessible for certain people either and wouldn't be opposed to seeing it being made easier.

They were talking about possibly changing the struggle mechanic since around Pyramid Head.

And we still have 0 information if it will be changed or not.

Also, give us a toggle button already. It's getting really annoying to hold the same button over and over again >:(

You can bind a macro either to your keyboard or your mouse. And problem solve, rest your hands in your neck while you watch until someone unhook you.

At this point, The Devs seem to be the only ones who like the mechanic...

Totally agree. My son has cerebral palsey and second hook phase is a death sentence for him.

Why not skill checks like in p-heads cage

Isn't there already a way to bind combos or macros in consoles yet? After so many gen consoles that feature should be already there.

Then they would be abused in fighting tournaments so doubt it

The struggle mechanic has a lot of really serious issues that make it player hostile design. Button mashing as a mechanic hasn't been fun for ages and is basically extinct in games for a bunch of reasons.

1: Rough on the hands, rough on the hardware

2: Accessibility issues. This is obviously the most important problem.

3: It makes losing feel worse. Like, I suspect complaints about camping and tunneling would go down a LOT if you were not forced to mash. You are now forced to participate in your loss, making you 'more present' during camping scenarios, for example.

4: It hurts the 'emotional arc' of survivor a lot. Normally, survivor gets a chance to regroup mentally once they are downed and once they are hooked for a minute. Catch their breath, recompose, make a plan, check a text message, whatever. Mashing space kills that mental downtime.

The literal only 'benefit' to mashing is that it makes the second hook stage feel worse and encourages the survivor to give up. This may have been interesting in the pre-SWF days where there was a lot of psychology around the idea of hook rescues being rare and staying alive on the hook being an altruistic action done for your team rather than in hope of rescue, but now its just annoying and there are already plenty of mechanics that make the second hook stage feel uniquely awful and unsettling.
