So like ... Will queue times ever get properly taken care of ?
It's mind-boggling how it can take 15 minutes to find 2 people to play with (a survivor and a killer) in a game with 50k concurrent players. For people who've tried the new MMR, does it address this issue at least somewhat ?

There aren’t enough killers thats whats causing the queues because for some unknown reason a lot of people just don’t want to play killer.

What would you propose they do? If they throw ranks out and just group up anyone that'll be the same problem killers have now. Too many survivors, not enough killers. So killers get radically different levels of survivor skill in their games. One match a 4 man sweat squad, next match 4 grey ranks that don't know what a pallet is.

The amount of players doesn't make a huge difference really. You can have 20k players or 100k players online at once, but if the ratio of survivor players to killer players stays the same, then queue time will still be an issue.
It's an incredibly difficult problem to solve, because it's linked considerably to the behavior of players. For example, typically more survivors are playing in the evenings due to the fact that they are more likely to have friends online who want to play SWF compared to in the morning. As a result, you end up with an imbalance of players on each side which causes queue times to go up and skill-based matchmaking to become less functional.
4 -
You can always play killer, queues are literally a few seconds long.
If not well... What do you want the devs to do? Find random people and put a gun to their foreheads demanding them to go play killer? Hire 1000 people to play killer 24/7?
1 -
Give me 3x the bloodpoints and I would play Killer all the TIME XD
3 -
Survivors want to play the game but so many of them like to point blame and shame the killers that do play when they die by said killers. That makes nobody want to play killer so we have 20m queue times for survivors.
6 -
Weak killers = less people want to play it = longer queue times
Solution: Balance the game better
9 -
What if survivors weren't BM'ing every single killer? Or talking smack to them every match? Maybe just maybe there will be more killers so you can play with your friend.
2 -
What times are you trying to play, and what timezone? Ever since the new Chapter dropped, queue times have been faster than I've ever seen, even during the US evening hours, when I was used to waiting a good 10-15 minutes for a match.

My own solution, offer BP bonuses for playing the side of the game that needs numbers.
If the ratios are off by a certain amount, give the side that needs numbers a BP bonus for playing the needed side.
For example
When there are 5 survivors for every killer, or 3 survivors for every killer, offer a 20 percent BP for picking the under populated side.
This is what a lot of dungeon-matchers will do in some MMO's when a certain class like healer or tank is missing - they'll offer an exp bonus for playing the needed class.

Honestly that would be perfect since it'd give them a chance to flex the statistics they always talk about.

The issue is that MANY killers have deranked into the teens because of trying to learn Trickster. this is why, at rank 16, I was being pair with rank 2 SWFs. Please, killer mains, stop trying to Adept Trickster, for the sake of ALL of us, killer and survivors alike.
1 -
The queues have been bad long before Trickster ever came onto the scene.
Also those killers are just bad if they are deranking with Trickster. Trickster is a fair and well balanced killer. It's impossible for the design geniuses over at Behaviour to ever make bad design.

The issue with MM is many fold:
1: Survivors are the more social side, and thus more likely to recruit other players.
2: Post game chat is, to put it mildly, the most toxic thing I have ever experienced in a videogame, and I played league ranked and dota ranked for years. It is downright shocking how awful it is.
3: Most of the killer cast is not viable in the sense they lose vs a team of equal skill, so if you identify strongly with a member of the cast that isn't a viable killer sucks to be you.
4: Killer is, outside of any balance consideration, the 'higher effort' role. I don't mean this to say survivors are no skill idiots. I mean purely in the sense of the amount of consistent effort and attention killers have to pay to the match, and how bad the gamefeel is for killers. Like sure, getting hooked sucks, but at least its DOWNTIME. Killers lack any downtime, besides micro-animations that are constantly played which take away their camera control. It just is physically and mentally way more demanding to play killer because of that constant uptime. Its also why streamers tend to favor killer, but it just really makes it hard for 'marathon' killer sessions for a casual player.
This combines to make the killer experience naturally sorta shorter, less attractive, and less likely to be populated. It would take an extreme amount of gameplay and balance changes to get anything resembling 1/5th the playerbase to play killer. Not just balance stuff (Though some balance stuff is badly needed, as 'sweat squads' just nuke any fun anyone can have in the game from orbit), but gamefeel stuff.
Part of why I think ruin-undying showed a problem with the game design was despite being OP it also like... gave the killer the ability to take literally any level of downtime and not throw the game. Downtime being baked into the killer role would do a lot to make it less absurdly stressful and help the killer population out a lot.

Well I play both side and my rank is 4-5 at the killer and same for survivor. I mostly play killer if possible and my point is to enjoy my game. It does not mean I am gonna win or lose but for me it means game must be a fun for my side as well. When I play mostly what I faced is really experienced rank 1 survivors + swf with comms that just crush me or really low rank survivors that cant escape my chases and just die instantly. As you can imagine both sides are not enjoyable for me because game finished so fast without gaining nothing. To be honest I am really tired of facing againts the red rank survs cause when I play againts em I barerly get hooks and got no pressure and that is not fun for me. Maybe I will get better if I got more hours but it is not enjoyable when you only get 3-4 hooks and all gens are done in some maps with some killers. Same applies for low ranks because I just get em so fast it is no fun anymore and I dont know what to do.
Overall the thing is winning is not important for me but when I dont get the oppurtunity to play my killer then what is the point of playing the killer? That is the problem in DBD that survivors can play their survivors as they wanted but most of the killer cant play their killers as they wanted.

To completely solve, sure, incredibly difficult, but it's definitely possible to at least mitigate the issue. Give bonus BP for playing the currently more occupied role or at least tell players which role is likely to experience longer queue times. I understand the issue now (as I didn't beforehand), but I still believe something should be done about it. Matchmaking times are extremely important in my mind.

Apparently the MMR will fix this
1 -
Unknown reason? It's pretty damn well-known I believe.
1 -
My queues are instant since the DS nerf on both survivor and killer on both EU and NA.

I guess this is what happens when you make a survivor-sided game, release useless killers to the roster or copy pasted ones. On top of this, the behaviour of survivors towards killers hasn't been adequate for years, and it's only recently that they start nerfing survivors slightly.
When there's a disparity in queue times, it means a lack of player on one side obviously, this does not have anything to do with MMR.
I left the game a couple of times because of how ######### playing killer is, adn seems I will be leaving again since BHVR doesn't care about creating decent and original killers anymore. This is not my only reason of concern, but an important one.
I predicted a lot of months ago this game would keep losing killer player base, and seems I was absolutely true in my statements.
You know what happens when an asymmetrical game loses too much player base on one side right? Yep, same destiny as "Evolve 2".
Google what happened to that game I was a fan of before, because DbD is heading in the exact same direction.

plz tell me your joking?
1 -
Unknown reason?! Because Killers don't get love or passion in these new chapters.
0 -
It would only help with matchmaking.
Not queue times.
1 -
While this works indeed, it's purely a band-aid that won't address the real problem of why killers are less played by survivors.
They should balance the game better, buff weak killers, etc etc.
If this game was killer-sided, everybody would play killer and nobody would play survivor.
Right now and for years this has been a survivor-sided game, hence, this is the problem that should be addressed.

I rarely play on Saturdays - today I played from 2-6pm EST and my longest wait as a survivor was 2 minutes in that 4 hours - most were under 1 minute. I have NEVER had a wait time even close to 15 minutes - On average it is more like 2-5 minutes and that is usually later at night (10p-2a EST).

Give more BP to killer for the grind to be worthit
0 -
Queue times are bad because there is a considerable small pool of killer players available at a single time. The demand is far higher than the supply and who could blame them? The Twins/Trickster are pathetically weak unless played scummy, there's been no new map, no real killer perks since Blight to change anything and its the more frustrating role out of the two.
0 -
most people in this game play more survivor. But since this new update came out, my queue times have only been a minute which is probably because everyone wants to try out trickster.

Balanced queue incentives. Your an asymetrical game the concept of rewarding players with a bonus to rift ftagment grinding and a bp bonus would masively fix queue times as it would incentiveise people to fill undesireded roles. If total active player population for killer is less then 15% then killer rewards post game for bp increases by 10% and rift fragment progress is increased for that role by 25%.
Survivor same logic just the percentage should be around 65%-70%. I have found a way to alleviate your queues and hopefully improved your matchmaking.

My games take about 3 mins between for wait times so its never really been a problem. What I have a question is,,,is it normal for rank 16 survivors to be in with red rank survivors? I know they were doing some kind of test but I had have a lot of games last night where I had 14 and 15/16 level survivors in with level 1/2/3/4 players? I am somewhat new to the game been playing for 3-4 months so I dont really understand how the matchmaking works. I dont mean to sound bad or anything but with one or two 15-16 level survivors who may not know what to do makes the game that much harder,,which it did.

No. I like playing killer. I like chasing people around and scaring the hell out them when they least expect it.
0 -
Did that today. I was on my lvl 5 Huntress(only 2 perk slots) running Disturbing and Insidious. Used offering for Freddy map. Hid in small room with gennie. Scared the pants off of a survivor.
When you no longer care about rank, the game can be fun again. I depipped that trial, but I regret nothing. We all had fun. GGs all around, and the guy I scared? He was laughing his butt off in post chat!
I want more games like that.
