The Trickster was only a Test
When the Trickster released, i really wondered why he throws his blades so fast. Almost like a gatling gun. With a heavy slowdown during the main event (like a fully running gatling gun).
So what if the Trickster was just a way to test a new risky mechanic before using it on a iconic killer from the RE Universe? This also coincedes with how quickly they tried to buff the Trickster. Since usually, they want to wait a couple of months, before buffing a new killer.
In the past, the devs have completely reworked killers from scratch, like Freddy. Maybe they are planning on doing this with the Trickster too. Which explains his name. The Trickster is just a test run and gets a rework after the RE chapter launched.

Maybe the new killer will be Nemesis with a gatling gun.

Thats what i mean. Maybe the License agreement had some pretty strict rules and they wanted to test the water with a unlicensed chapter.

Now hear me out...who else is known to use throwing projectiles? Batman! With rapid fire batterangs? Batman is the next killer after REvil confirmed. Checkmate.

If they based it on the movies (I forgot which one), it's possible it could be a gatling gun.
Personally I don' like the idea of Trickster 2.0. Also his rocket launcher is too iconic 😨
At least give him the rocket launcher lol.

i honestly dont think so, theres not much else they can do with a fast projectile killer without just making trickster 2.0

I agree with this, I think the devs realize that projectile killers have been exhausted at this point. We have slinger, plague, huntress, trickster and (kinda?) victor. At this point I think everyone realizes that a new game mechanic is in order in order to appease the player base. This is only from what I could gather but there has been a long time between each projectile killer, so I doubt if they do choose to try it again that it will be anytime soon.

This is some bat-######### crazy tinfoil hat-type conspiracy theorizing. ...but I kinda like it.
Realistically tho, I don't think that is what is going on, because it suggests the developers do not feel confident in their ability to design and refine new killers. It also means that when the RE content drops, the spotlight is going to be taken off of say... Nemesis and placed on Trickster instead--because technically, Trickster is the "new" killer in that moment.
Nemesis would just be a reskin of a killer the community already knows and despises.

I can pretty much say whatever killer they add from resident evil is never going to have a gun unless it's like slinger's spear gun.
So no rocket launcher, and no Gatling gun lol

A reskin of a killer who was just a testrun. I imagine, that they give the trickster a different power BEFORE the RE chapter launches.

They buffed Twins right after releasing and for a few patches they did mini buffs to Twins, so I don't think testing is why they were so fast to buffing Trickster. Also, I feel like if they were to do this sort of test it would be a few chapters before instead of the chapter right before. Just in case the concept doesn't work as well as expected and they need to start from scratch.
Edit: I wouldn't be surprised if they purposely made Trickster underwhelming to make the hype for Resident Evil even larger, then later he'll get a good rework to make him more viable.

Making a killer bad on purpose? Twice in a row?

I'm not sure if Twins was on purpose and Trickster I think I'm just trying to find a way to justify why he's still so weak after the buff. Then they announced Resident Evil.

I understand what you mean but it'd be pretty terrible of them to release 2 killers that function basically the same back to back.

Nah I think the Trickster is a test in a new game design approach, before him they would release wathever they got without much testing, if it was weak it didnt matter that much because people have other 20 Killers to play, if it was broken Survivors had to endure game after game of unfair mechanics because everyone would flock to the new stomping FOTY then they would have to nerf it as fast as they could, sparking outrage about "DeVS aRE SurvIvOr Sid3D!!".
Lets take PH as an example, when they released him he was riddled with problems, the cage bodyblocking and the M2 into M1 instant attack made him broken and extremely easy to stomp with so people naturally used him a lot, in this scenario you have Survivors playing against a lot of the same broken Killer which in turn makes them go to the forums and complain or they switch to Killer until PH gets tweaked.
In the case of Trickster, they released a weak Killer, people tried him for a bit and then went back to wathever they played, in this case you have Survivors playing against what they used to play and Killers coming to the forums to complain that Trickster is weak, but they still can play their old Killers of choice, you still had wathever you played before him, and once Trickster gets buffed people wouldnt throw the same fit they usually throw when they nerf stuff.
As a proof, when PH bodyblocking cages and M2 into M1 got nerfed we did have threads complaining about said nerfs, when Trickster got buffed almost nobody complained it was going to be too strong, its easier for them to first release something weak and then buff it than releasing something broken and then nerfing it.

They would change the tricksters power before the launch of the next chapter.

That would be an even worse thing to do for the people that enjoy playing him as he is. Plus with how slowly the devs work this just doesn't even seem possible.
