How does matchmaking actually work in this game.

So I've been playing both sides and I've noticed a weird disconnect in how the game chooses who I match with.

When I play survivor at rank 5 (always solo) I get teammates and killers that both act and feel like they are around my skill level. (with the exceptions of a very few bad eggs).

When I play killer at rank 8-9 I get the world's best (red rank usually) survivor team against me. To the point where I can visually see a major gap in experience and skill that leaves me baffled just how good these guys are. (or just a solid reminder of how much I still have to learn/how bad I am)

I am very curious how dbd chooses who gets matched with each other and if being a survivor or killer has different algorithms built into them.
