survivor item rework
just like my totem rework idea https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/244757/totem-rework-idea this is a follow on from that because I'm bored and still in lockdown.
this will focus on survivor items in hopes of making strong items fair and week items more useful
first I am removing broken/dull keys and the rare map along with there effects and addons as they will be worked into a new item types whilst their ultra rare variants will become unique.
Ultra rare items
to make their power justified I made it so you can only find them in chests and that they don't appear in blood webs this will increase there value and actual rarity as a survivor have to escape with them to keep them also they do not have addons any more (as if any one used most key and map addons anyway)
rainbow map
- has unlimited use
- reveals auras within 24 meter range
- reveals gens, totems, pallets, vaults, hooks and exit gates auras when in range
- can be used whilst moving but not sprinting
this would make the map the best aura reading tool in the game without the need of perks opening you up for better builds I removed the ability to see killers power related belongings as its out dated and only really hurts trapper (the poor bloke)
skeleton key
- only used to open hatch
- opening hatch has a 5 second interaction and animation
- hatch opening progress resets upon cancelling
- the key has 5 charges and uses 1 charge per second whilst opening hatch.
- opening the hatch has a unique and directional sound effect and can be heard within 16 meters of its location
this way getting interrupted or stopping the hatch opening interaction will result in not having enough charges to open the hatch making the key a one use ride or die item.
item rules
! have streamlined the rarity of items and addon and changed there numbers to be the same for all types so its similar to all killers having 20 addons of specific rarity
there will be 4 item in each category of common, uncommon, rare and very rare some of the items have been removed or moved to a new type of item or rarity.
for addons I made it so there are only 10 per item type to lower the over all amount of addons which bloat the blood web (i mean how many stamps do you have in total?)

Med-kits
the med-kits themselves stay unchanged with there charges and speeds but hitting a healing skill check grants 150 blood points and great healing skill checks now grants 300 blood points just like generator skill checks.

- Butterfly tape: slightly increases healing speed.
- Bandages: adds 8 charges to the med-kit.
uncommon
- Medical scissors: moderately increases healing speed, slightly increases the odds of a skill check.
- Gauze roll: adds 12 charges to the med-kit, slightly increases great healing skill check progression.
rare
- Rubber gloves: considerably increases altruistic healing speed, moderately increases the odds of a skill check.
- Gel dressing: adds 16 charges to the med-kit, moderately increases great healing skill check progression.
- Abdominal dressing: Considerably increases self-healing speed, reduces med-kit charges by 8.
very rare
- Styptic agent: Unchanged
- Surgical suture: after healing another survivor from the dying state increase altruistic healing speed tremendously and moderately reduce charge consumption speed for the duration of the heal (basically an anti-slug addon)
ultra rare
- Anti-haemorrhage syringe: Unchanged
Flashlights
much like the med-kits there base stats are unchanged except there is now a common flashlight
flashlight
- common Pocket flashlight: 4 seconds of use, slightly increases blindness duration
- uncommon Flashlight: unchanged
- rare Sport flashlight: unchanged
- very rare Utility flashlight: unchanged
- event will o' wisp and fourth year flashlight: unchanged

- battery: adds 4 seconds of use to the flashlight.
- Leather grip: slightly increases flashlight accuracy.
uncommon
- Low amp filament: moderately decreases flashlight battery consumption.
- Focus lenses: slightly increase flashlight beam range, brightness, duration and slightly decreases flashlight beam width.
rare
- Lithium battery: adds 6 seconds of use to the flashlight, slightly increases flashlight beam brightness.
- Rubber Grip: moderately increases flashlight beam accuracy.
- Intense halogen: considerably increases flashlight visual brightness and blindness duration.
very rare
- High end sapphire lens: moderately increases flashlight beam range, brightness, duration and width.
- Tungsten Filament: considerably decreases flashlight battery depletion rate.
ultra rare
- Iridescent bulb: tremendously increases flashlight beam brightness, duration and slightly increases flashlight battery depletion rate
toolboxes
there are a surplus of toolboxes, some for repairing some for sabotaging so i decided to split them into two different item types. i have nerfed there base stats a bit because gen speed can be really fast when stacked with perks.

- uncommon commodious toolbox: 20 charges, moderately increases generator repair speed.
- rare mechanics toolbox: 20 charges, considerably increases generator repair speed.
- very rare engineers toolbox: 28 charges, considerably increases generator repair speed.
- event festive toolbox: 20 charges, considerably increases generator repair speed. great skill checks detonate a small cluster of fireworks, failed skill checks detonate a firework.

- Scraps: adds 8 charges to the toolbox.
- Clean rag: slightly increases repair speed.
uncommon
- Instructions: eliminates skill checks and reduces audible range of your Generator-repairing noises by 8 meters.
- Plyers: slightly increases the scale of the skill check and great skill check zones.
rare
- Wire spool: adds 12 charges to the toolbox.
- Socket swivel: moderately increases repair speed.
- Monkey wrench: moderately increases the scale of the skill check and great skill check zones.
very rare
- Insulated gloves: eliminates generator repairing sounds. (including your teammates repair sounds)
- torque wrench: considerately increases repair speed, moderately decreases scale of skill check zones.
ultra rare
- Brand new parts: unchanged.
new items
Utility wrap
appearance: a roll up bag filled with odds and ends that help with breaking and damaging objects. (something like this)
utility wrap take on the role of the sabotaging item which allows survivors to break hooks as well as opening chests faster and cleanse totems faster. the exact numbers are up for debate but for reference 4 charges equals 1 hook sabo, 8 charges equals 1 totem/chest and sabotaged hooks take 30 seconds to respawn.
- Common tool wrap: 8 charges, slightly increases chest opening and totem cleansing speed.
- uncommon utility wrap: 12 charges, slightly increases sabotaging, chest opening and totem cleansing speed.
- rare sapper wrap: 12 charges, moderately increases sabotaging, chest opening and totem cleansing speed.
- very rare Alex's tool wrap: 16 charges, considerately increases sabotaging speed, moderately increases chest opening and totem cleansing speed.

- used sandpaper: adds 4 charges to the utility wrap
- worn chisel: slightly increases sabotaging speed.
uncommon
- protective gloves: prevents the killer from being notified when sabotaging a hook and makes totem cleansing and chest opening silent.
- rusty rail spike: slightly increases totem cleansing and chest opening speed.
rare
- small blades: adds 8 charges to the utility wrap
- hacksaw: moderately increases sabotaging speed, slightly increases totem cleansing and chest opening speed.
- grip wrench: hooks sabotaged using the utility wrap take an extra 20 seconds to respawn slightly decreases sabotaging speed.
very rare
- lockpick: whilst using the utility wrap to open a chest press the alternate ability button to instantly open it, this addon is consumed upon use.
- ball pein hammer: after breaking a totem with the utility wrap reveal the aura of the nearest totem.
ultra rare
- iridescent chisel: tremendously increases sabotaging speed, moderately increases charge depletion rate (basically gives you old instant sabo but halves your charges)
dolls
replacing the keys aura reading effect addons is the new doll item because dolls are creepy and stare into my soul so revealing auras seems apt.
- common straw doll: 20 second duration, reveals the auras of survivors within 24 meters.
- uncommon wooden doll: 25 second duration, reveals the auras of survivors within 24 meters.
- rare plastic doll: 30 second duration, reveals the auras of survivors within 28 meters.
- very rare porcelain doll: 30 second duration, reveals the auras of survivors within 32 meters.

common
- rag dress: adds 5 seconds to the dolls duration
- button eyes: increases aura reading range by 4 meters
uncommon
- sweet bow: reveals your aura to survivors in range
- marble: increases aura reading range by 8 meters
rare
- black pins: when using the doll suppress your aura from the killer, considerately decreases doll efficiency.
- silk dress: adds 10 seconds to the dolls duration.
- baby bottle: reveals the obsessions aura, reduces the odds of being the obsession.
very rare
- blood amber eye: reveal the aura of the killer, tremendously reduces doll efficiency.
- cursed pins: when using the doll suppress your aura and the aura of all survivors within 8 meters of your location, tremendously reduces doll efficiency.
ultra rare:
- doll heart: when your sacrificed timer on hook runs out the doll will be consumed and grant you 30 more seconds on hook (dose not prevent you from being instant sacrificed when hooked for the third time it only activates if you were left on the hook for too long)
with all these changes survivors go from having (excluding event items and addons) 26 items and 55 addons to 22 items and 50 addons which wont make much of a change for the grind but its something.

Some of your ideas has ups and downs, but the key one is genius. I think items will be balanced if your ideas were added.

It's crazy to think survivors have over 100 different items/addons/offerings in their bloodweb not including perks. when killers have less than 50 in theirs

Lower the key time to 1 second and have all key addons only work for the broken key, and you've got a deal.

that would stop injured survivors from using the hatch in the killers face but it will just bring back hatch standoffs because the killer can't hit a healthy survivor on the hatch as the wipe animation will stop them from hitting them again

If anything, there would be key standoffs. The hatch currently already gives killer priority, even if the survivor gets there first. So until the priority of hatch is removed, I see this as a necessary evil.

I think the hatch priority is simply down to latency i have seen survivors jump into hatch before killers can close it in there faces also we really don't want to bring back any kind of standoffs.
