Question for killer mains
Why do you guys say gen speeds are too fast yet almost always over commit to chases? In so many of my games I will have a killer chase me for a good 2 minutes before finally downing me and in that time my team will get 2-3 gens done and the killer will then proceed to get super salty after the game saying that gens go too fast. If I’m running you in loops and vaulting or pallet stunning you a lot then just give up the chase and go pressure gens. When I play killer I will typically only chase somone for 30-45 seconds max and if I don’t down them in that amount of time I leave them and go pressure gens.

Probably because many of them don't realize it's not a good idea to chase the strong looper in an area full of pallets and windows.

This. I feel the issue on the forums is there's a lot of people saying "this is broken" or "this is op" but the truth is those players suck at the game. When someone actually tries to bring up a real issue it's hard to have your voice heard with everyone shouting.

As a killer main who gets downs relatively quickly, having 3 people separated on gens even for a 15 to 20 second chase can garuntee a gen or two in the right situation. I think that gens should take 100 seconds instead of 80 personally

I'm still waiting for that "Early game warm up" the devs talked about a year ago -.-

I don’t know I just don’t encounter that scenario where survivors get 3 gens done that quick even as a red rank survivor. It’s more likely multiple survivors spawn together and work on the same gen then different gens and when multiple gens do pop at the same time it is almost always because the killer chases one dude for like 2-3 minutes for no reason. For gods sake I’m starting to think some killers act like survivors are their ex wives running away with all their ######### or something lol

Killer main here.
Honestly I just want them to make it so survivors don't spawn spread out. Gen speeds are fine imo

I don't
But against a good, well coordinated team, the gens are going to pop that fast regardless of how I play my chases so *shrugs*

With matchmaking being how it is right now, generally matches aren't going by that fast as survivors are far from efficient on gens.
But every once in a while you get the teams that are efficient on gens and boy do you really have little time to build pressure before the gens get done.

It's not only what you mentioned but I know from when i play survivor i usually spawn right next to a gen. It's happened a number of times I didnt have to move at all and just started to work on the gen. If that happens to me, how many other survivors does that happen to. Shouldn't survivors have to find gens as opposed to just spawning on top of one.

Because survivors can hold W and predrop pallets with zero skill and the killer has no right way if playing it because in 90 seconds 3 gens are done absolutely guaranteed, leaving nothing but the last two which will then be done in about 40 and 90 seconds respectively because the killer got nothing out of the first chase because they had to stop chasing the survivor, except a small-to-moderate deadzone that doesn't even matter because the survivors can and will waste more than enough time holding W away and when they are finally hooked after all of that amazingly skilled gameplay their teammates will leave them to go to second stage, finish the last gen before the killer can stop them, have one person on the exit gates while someone else saves their teammate, and escape.
Edit: Sorry, 90 seconds, not 190.

In my experience while you do spawn on gens, you often spawn with at least one other person. And solos tend to hop on the gen together instead of splitting.

You can say gens go too fast and that is fine but if you are chasing the same guy for 2 minutes there is no excuse. You deserve to lose. Admit you were outplayed and move on.

On some topics such as Killer powers or Perks yes but in terms of Gen speed, it has been always a huge debate and its not like only forum members are talking about it, even dedicated ex killer main players such as Ardetha or a survivor main such as Zubat and many more are saying the gen speed is not fine and has never been. Dont want to say that the opinion of a streamer means more then others but these examples are players with over thousands of hours with a ton of experience behind their back so ye.

Gen speed is imo fine.
Its the size of some maps and gen spread on them that makes the gens fly.
Also chasing someone over a minute at the start is the best way to lose the match.
People saying dropping pallets early is a waste. But is it, really? If you play some basic M1 killer and survivor you find first just happens to be in the great area and decides to just play it super safe and pre drop pallets and hold W, you will waste so much time you wont recover from that no matter how good you play the rest of the match, you can only hope survivors will make a big mistake.
That said, knowing when to drop the chase is the key of mastering M1 killers in high ranks, but often it is very hard choice to do, people don't want to leave without a down or anything after that long chase.
For me it really depends on specific maps and RNG, the actual speed of the gens should not be changed tho

Not every team is as efficient as that

people who say gens speeds are too fast are noobs or mostly joking, the bigger issue is almost always maps.

Like who? cause everyone i've seen making the complaint is just hitting red ranks and get ass blasted by people who know what they're doing cause they rely forever Freddy.

As a former killer main i can say that gens will go fast if survivors play optimally. Strongest survivor setup always will be spreading around the map at beginning repairing 3-4 different generators. So even if you down first survivor in reasonable time like under 30-40 seconds, this will be nearly half generators done of 3 gens. Best way to slow survivor progress down is catch them off guard if they are healing, you down injured one and chase healthy one so now you will be keeping 2-3 survivors off gens as third one will need to revive slugged survivor. It's a hard fact that if you are facing GOOD survivors, in order you win the game you need to do one of these 3 things: camp, slug or tunnel. Pick your poison. You will see this even in tournament level.
Personally gens are boring as it is when i switched to mainly survivor main. Game should be slowed down some other way, for example first 30 second - 1 minute of the game slower progression so survivors can choose to either hide, clean totems or grind the gens. When killer gets first hit progression would go at normal speed.

Since everyone wants a new Objectives for survivor to extend the trial time.
But look at Mori, all they did was increase 1 hook to 2 hook, and it took years. If Devs extend trial time by increasing Gen time I will be mad.

So then if they do slow down gens what are survivors supposed to do when killers do start to slug wouldnt gens times be too slow then? and yes the game is survivor sided in many situations being against a 4 man swf who are equally skilled as you is one of those situations and unless they make solo equivalent to SWF then balancing around such a scenario, which is very rare, would make killers insanely OP against anything other then a 4 man, which means that the issue isnt gen speeds but the difference between SWF and solo.
There are also situations where one side will have an edge purely because of RNG, also not a problem of gen speeds.

do you remember being a rank 20 killer going against rank 20s, killers will destroy survivors most of the time killer has a more forgiving skill curve then survivors when you are first starting out. I also like the idea of survivors having to get parts but that's because sitting on a gen is boring not because the gen times are bad.

We don't have a guy that represent us so don't say: ,,to killer mains''. The same with survivor mains.

There is a reason why 80% of the killers right now run Hex Ruin/undying, enough said.

When I first started playing killer back in 2017 - I found I would get so invested in the chase that I would chase way too long. So for about 2-3 months I set up a mouse macro that would start a timer on my 2nd screen for 30 seconds - as soon as it went off I would abandon chase. It helped me a lot - in learning when to abandon chases

I don't say that.

Gen speeds are fine the biggest weakness gen rush players face is camping tunnelling slugging and noed. You'll be shamed for it but don't buy into it, these are the remaining dbd mechanics still in the game for a reason.

If gen times were increased, you’d see an extreme sharp increase in killer wins. Would be especially brutal at rank 20-10 where survivors already struggle.
