I feel so bad for Billy

He used to be the only fast insta downing killer. You could zoom around, he had great addons (although pretty busted ngl and carried a lot of billy's), was fun to play as and against, but now he is just a shadow of his former self.

I mean, why would anyone play him when Oni exists? Or especially when Blight exists? I mean they just do what Billy does so much better.

Want to insta down? Just play some Oni.

Need mobility and lethality? Just play Blight.

These killers both have good mobility and lethality. Billy is pretty much a joke without lopro chains (hella fun addons to use tho).

There really is no reason to play Billy unless you are a hardcore fan of him. And his little inconsistencies are pretty annoying because swer on me mum I cannot hit close up chainsaws for the life of me. I can do curves here and there, I can get the occasional chainsaw snipe, but I just struggle with close up hits.

The worst part is I feel that I miss chainsaws I should and hit saws I shouldn't.

So yeah, I feel bad for him, and I miss the old billy.

people play him if they don't want to spend money on the other fast killers

I’ve been thinking about the Big Buckle addon and I think it should just reduce his terror radius while chainsaw sprinting.

The new ideas can be built on. Just give him more good addons

What i really miss is the old machine gun build, where m1 killers could down you in less than 10 secs.. Good old times, it was fun while it lasted. About Billy, yep Oni is better and more fun. Because he takes ages to charge the chainsaw hes more loopeable than before.

I don't think many will argue that Billy's add-ons didn't need some tweaks as stuff like insta-saw was pretty busted. However, we can all agree that the new add-ons in general are a far cry from even Billy's worst old add-ons. The overheat mechanic was just the cherry on top of the ######### sundae, making what were good/decent add-ons, the engravings, absolute garbage while generally putting a cap on the amount of pressure Billy can put on survivors.

Overheat doesnt come into play unless you're bad. This leaves either seeing a red bar growing around your power or needing to use his old dumb addons as the only reasons someone would think he's actually been nerfed or thinks he's less fun

The 'nerf' was Overheat, a mechanic which never does anything unless you've ######### up multiple times over.

it was 100% unnecessary... but that doesnt change it not doing anything.

Addons just dont apply to a killer's strength. Are most of his terrible now, yes, does that make his basekit worse? no

Of all the things you say (Which I agree with) I agree with this the most - Why is Billy so buggy?

Not sure if unpopular opinion but I wish Lopro Chains were either basekit or lower tier addon like yellow. Only thing that makes Hillbilly fun to play at the moment because overheat mechanic doesn't feel great at all. Overheat mechanic didn't solve backrev'ing in fact it feels like it encourages it more.

That still nerfs him as a whole, he needs better addons.

Fix his POV and camera animations for gods sake. Change back his brown sparkplug addon and let him keep his chainsaw charge when he is stunned by pallets. Even with his crappy overheat mechanic, this would do so much to make him better.

I think the big exception there is feathering. Overheat doesn't do a whole lot if you aren't feathering, but it adds a massive penalty if you are doing it. A good billy used to be able to feather the chainsaw for an indefinite amount of time until they lined up a good backrev or lined up a good curve/got the survivor cornered in a favorable position. Adding a punishment to feathering is a pretty big basekit nerf because it removes a lot of options for a good player. You can still feather, but you're going to build up overheat very quickly

Otherwise, I would agree. Feathering aside, overheat pretty much just adds a larger penalty to the engravings and sometimes punishes you if you repeatedly miss

Just delete oni, nobody likes him anyway.

Call me selfish, but if the Billy nerf was the price it took to get more killer variety in all of my survivor matches, then so be it.

That just means there will be more spirits. And I would rather face multiple billys.

If they would fix his addons that would be great. Oni is a great killer but not better then Billy in my opinion. Billy doesn't need to gather blood in order to use his mobility/ insta down. Yeah the overheat mechanic puts a real damper on his ability to traverse the map like a savage but he's still able to get some cheeky downs with his saw. It is extremely tough in some tiles though.

Billy was actually fun to play against though. After that, most of them moved onto Oni (which are even then still pretty uncommon atm) and most killers you'd go against will play Spirit or Freddy anyways.

    You're 100% right.

Billy doesn't deserve 4 mechanics punishing him for using his saw. Cooldown, Bump State, Overheat and Hitboxes/Aim Dressing/Shape of Loops. They could have just adjusted the pre-existing punishments, but chose to make them worse and also add a new punishment for using his power.

His power was already the highest skillcap in the game, when used around loops. If misused the survivors had PLENTY of time to go to another loop or pallet/window, and survivors had PLENTY of time to dodge and reposition while billy was moving at 4.0ms. People thought too highly of old Billy because of insta-saw.

You will miss saws with new Billy because his power lacks any aim dressing unlike old Billy, Oni, Blight etc. You will never be able to saw a survivor vaulting away from you, it must be a vault towards you and even then good luck. Almost everything about Billy is bugged except his M1...

That hasn't been the case for me and I have no problem with that regardless. Spine Chill destroys her.

Nope, only m1 when they'll reach a pallet/window before I can rev up.

Wouldn't really say that, I feel that he has dropped quite a bit because his addons are pretty wack.

Hillbilly's base kit was perfectly balanced (Which the devs even said themselves), all he needed was an addon-pass because he had some broken addons, he did not need a rework.

Edit: Removed an image i didnt mean to add

His basekit is basically unaffected though. He was perfect before and is perfect after the nerf. The only change were his broken addons. Overheat is completely irrelevant

Yeah, I maybe go against 1 billy a month anymore. I don't even remember the last time I saw one and it makes me sad.

    I agree with this opinion.

The nerf to the tuning guide makes a lot of sense, but didn't have to change any other add-ons.

the only decent add-on [engravings] is killed by The overheat mechanic.

    I miss old billy too...😥

I think they could increase base overheat reduction back to 5 charges/sec like on release and turn his four overheat related addons into something interesting.

Remove the movement speed penalty and activation requirements on the charge time addons.

Remove the bump penalty from spiked boots. Reduce the turn speed slightly. Add a rare turn speed addon as a halfway point between spiked boots and dads boots.

Buff big buckle and black grease. BB reduces Hillbillies terror radius by six meters while sprinting. Black grease becomes the rare turn speed addon.

Pighouse gloves adds a difficult skillcheck to survivors on generators when Hillbilly sprints towards them.

Muffler becomes a combination of two of the common addons or a worse lopro (chainsaw always does one health state instead of two).

Air filter slightly increases turn speed.

nah dude the overheat is a *****, it's very significant. You can't keep, chainsawing pallets then go to a gen across the map, down someone there go to another gen, as fast as you could before

  • Weederick
    Weederick Member Posts: 1,080

I havent overheated since it was implemented (except once to test it). Its not even close usually, even when i miss chainsaws and travel and play pallets etc. It cools down quickly and there just arent that many worthwhile chainsaw opportunitys per minute that you can overheat regularly. Often walking to catch up for backrevs is better than going for midrange hailmarys. Breaking pallets normally is better unless you're mindgaming for the survivor to leave the loop. Catching up with the chainsaw is only worth over 20m away. And even if you play shack window and other tiles with curves, you still get plenty oppportunities to cool down the heat inbetween.

Afaik most streamers also agree that overheat is not an issue.

I agree his addons are trash but he is still good in chase with 1 hit downs at will. Plus his mobility is top notch. Not as good as it once was but still one of the best.

I play Billy, I love flying the map!

It would be nice if overheat mechanic only activates when Billy is next to hang survivors (8 or 12 meters radius).

PD: if they rework Billy I beg them to live his LoPro Chains add on in the game. I love that add on!

His collision was messed up horribly with his nerf I played an old build of dbd and Billy felt great, saws actually hit when you touched a survivor, you didn't collide with map geo that wasn't on your screen etc etc. I assume they did this as a reason to add heavy clutch as an addon which used to be "basekit". His map collision is bigger than his survivor collision and that's why he is so miserable to play it has nothing to do with overheat.
