Yeah at this point creating pressure from outside seems to be the only way to motivate them to work on game health - this is how they got the colorblind settingsafter all (after being denied for years).

One of the few reasons they did that was because of how bad a certain dev made them look by having an outburst on stream.
I guarantee if he hadn't ticked of the colorblind of the community then BHVR wouldn't have done it.

Oh, I know the console experience. I played on Switch, a laptop that couldn't break 15fps and an old desktop that averaged 7.
I spent 1.3k to escape that hell. I know how awful it is.
And yet I am doomed to return

Only really started opening this thread after this patch, and after noticing the original posting date and number of pages in it.
Even during the tutorials where the maps are tiny and condensed, I was still getting freezes (and this is on PC.) I don't know how a problem goes this long without being taken care of or at the very least addressed, but wow... What a slap in the face.

Thank you I was very angry.
I have since installed a tower fan into the side of my pc. A barely noticable adjustment that has lead to me being .2° cooler and not helped the issues at all.
EDIT: After posting this I went and hoovered the floor because I couldn't see how bad it was without taking the picture lmao.

Like, the worst thing is that they HAVE Console testers!
There's always known issues on Xbox or PS4 and there were this patch too. They would've had to test this patch on Console to know that.
They released it KNOWING the enormous and possibly Console breaking issues it had.

Small adjustment. Barely noticeable.
I had a box fan pointed at my Xbox and it still overheated.
It has not turned on since, so I'm looking into fixes for that. Fingers crossed.

I played one killer match last night as Ghostface, was on Ormond and it was horrible. I only went stealth once because of how bad it froze when I entered into it. Luckily I wasn't playing serious match, just hooking survivors for archive challenge, so didn't care how I did but omg it was horrible. I thought it was bad as survivor but seeing first hand how it was as killer I don't know how there are any killers right now.
I won a copy of the RE DLC from a fog whisperer. Can't wait to experience the terrible frames playing as Nemesis. 😬

Hopefully you can bring it back to life. After CoalTower had said his ps4 ran fine it died. I'm pretty sure DBD is now killing old consoles, won't need to optimize for dead systems.

Here's a thought... Maybe BHVR's plan all along was to brick consoles with the latest update so they don't have to optimize the game for previous gen.

Make sure to call Microsoft's customer service and get a representative, tell them exactly which game caused your console to overheat and die. Mention the game's newest update is at fault.
The companies will care if DbD is overheating/bricking their consoles.

The funniest thing about this is that the devs don't care about addressing some of the biggest issues like broken Killers, weak perks, stagnant gameplay, and are focused on looking good to their idols on Twitter. Plus "updating the game to match modern games" without realizing that graphics is not above gameplay, and any newcomers attracted will leave the game if it is not satisfactory.

Congrats! I remember when Blight's chapter came out, most xbox1x machines (just those, not regular or slim xbox1's) like mine insta-overheated when you started DBD. Was unable ro launch the game until the patch the following week came out. I hope your console wasn't part of that mess too.
