how in the world am i supposed to hook the obsession four times in a single trial??

    This is not a bug. You can use the perk nemesis from Oni or survivors can use Decisive Strike on you or they can use For The People. All these 3 perks change the obsession

    Furtive Chase from The Ghostface also works, in addition to Nemesis from The Oni as previously stated.

    Use a perk that transfers the Obsession, like Nemesis or Furtive Chase. Or get DSed. It's not complicated.
