Surge doesn't give notifications (PC)

I was using Surge on clown, map was rancid abbatoir. It's the first time I've used surge in a while.

Whenever it activated looking at the icon in the bottom right, there was no noise from the generators. From what I remember using this perk you get the sound and visual notification of a generator exploding, like a failed skillcheck. In this game there was none at all even though surge activated a number of times.
