The Continued Ignorance of Performance Issues Continues to Hamper Player Fun

When people got sick and tired of the ######### optimisation, combined with PC players joining in because it's bricking us now.
11 -
Crash number 10, again on azarovs. It seems to crash tge most on this realm, but has crashed on many otgers too with various killers
5 -
Dang, guess I've been really lucky to not get a single crash so far.
3 -
Absolutely you have. Even when it doesnt crash, the games fps drop so hard it freezes for a few seconds at least 10 times a match. Its unplayable in a serious manner so im memeing 🤷♂️
3 -
Yeah, I think people are just fed up with DBD in general.
The only thing that will get BHVR to fix the game at this point, is a significant loss of sales.
15 -
I always encouraged our PC cousins to borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and fire up DBD, to see our perspective. I never ever ever wanted console mode inflicted on most players in this harsh & discouraging way.
9 -
it's just frustrating that i already knew the perspective and still have to suffer through it because for some reason the prospect of re-coding the game so it actually functions doesn't seem very appealing right now
7 -
I just had a game where I apparently I missed even tho I knew it would.
It might've happen because of the frame spike that happened at the start of the lunge or maybe because of the coding.
I have wasted almost three years playing this game and hoping it would get better but my recent match says the opposite.
Wish I got it record but I didn't which made me even more pissed.
Im just really mad.
4 -
Ahhhh complete recode! Kinda our Holy Grail of sorts.
I believe they have a 7 year plan for the game. With just two years left, it seems to me us on the older consoles have been left way behind and forgotten, and will wither away by attrition.
That doesn't make sense to me, as something like 85% of PS and Xbox players are still on the proir machines, and altogether console outnumber PCrs now. But there it is.
Some around here question whether they even test changes on the consoles before releasing them. Certainly if they do it isn't thoroughly enough.
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here, that internally it isn't passed around their offices the knowledge a change or patch will worsen console performance but is approved for release anyway. I pray that doesn't actually happen.
It also is getting harder and harder to hold out hope for much better days to come for us consolers and this game we fustratingly love.

When I play killer I still crash to home screen and got another error that says does not have enough memory. If this continues turn down the graphics and try again. Like what I'm on xbox. I can't choose my graphics settings lol.
6 -
I've never gotten a message warning of low memory on my Xbox1. Are you on a newer gen machine?
3 -
No the original xbox.
4 -
Crashed for the 18th time.
Let's go
18 -
+1 to this thread since at this point it's pretty much a petition.
5 -
Do not bump the thread.
It will get closed.
13 -
Well I meant +1 as in I also experience random performance issues with the game.
7 -
Jesus, even I haven't crashed once.
3 -
I also have issues where its like my character is running into something and the lag spikes in 1 out of every few games makes it feel like I'm being pulled around. I think they killed the hamsters by accident and the servers are at half power.
7 -
I haven't crashed yet, luckily, but there have been times I was worried it would. Now I'm waiting until next patch before I start playing again. If still not fixed by time event comes I'm just going to get my crowns and then hold off playing until performance is back to atleast how it was pre-chapter patch.
Borderlands 3 just started up their Revenge of the Cartels event so I'm going to focus on that instead. It's nice playing a game that isn't freezing nonstop or making my ps4 sound horrible.
6 -
Do you really though? Especially when most of the time it’s broken in some way, or at least makes the base game unplayable.
if they released Nemesis next week on console specifically optimised for console, then we would be able to play the regular game normally like we were until the patch broke everything.
This is the worst of both worlds as not only does the new content we paid for not function properly, but it also broke all the old killers etc so we can’t even play the content that was at least functioning.
1 -
Got the game 3 days ago on PS4 after a 2 year break, i used to be a PC player but said PC died awhile back.
Framerate wise the game run fine on my ps4, it's not perfect but playable for the most part, it's only really an issue at the higher rank because it can mess up powers/timings or lead you to get spun...alot, i think i never got spun this much in my 2 years of playing DBD, but it's fine, i can deal with that and adapt to it... somewhat.
What i can't adapt to tho are thoses random freeze and stuttering like OP showed with his videos, it mess up way too many chases, loops, power usage or just straight up trying to walk around...i really hope this will get fixed soon because it's incredibly frustrating when it happens.

This is my worry too, that they will turn around and pull a Cyberpunk ‘for the best experience we recommend you play this on a Pro or PS5’
It took years of complaining about the state of the game to get the Road to 60fps announcement and plan; and now it feels like it was just lip service and empty words to give us hope so that we keep playing and spending money through the poor conditions, until we end up here at breaking point where they realise that adding all the new content and updating graphics/effects before optimising the game for the hardware they specifically talk about in the March 2019 dev update and the hope will be that enough of the playerbase will move to a new format (even without cross progression) to offset any players lost.
I’ve played since PS4 launch (Huntress was brand new and free DLC) and stuck with the game as things got worse performance wise.
Just as things were getting so bad I was thinking of giving up the Road to 60fps was announced and my hope was rekindled; I stuck around and bought every DLC, feeling that someday things would improve massively. Next patch, no next patch, mid chapter patch; this hotfix will be the one. But nothing happened and if anything things got worse.
Now it’s sad being here and to just be told ‘buy new hardware’ when nothing suggests that the new stuff will be treated any differently.
I’d love it to get to the point where they have to do a huge health and optimisation update, but sadly I feel it’s more likely to be told to just uograde with no mention of the 2019 update or at most ‘sorry it wasn’t possible’ and it would break my heart :(
7 -
I cant afford a ps5 :( guess i cant play the game then. as it isnt already enough that my ps4 turns into a plane when I start the game, now its just a never ending freeze counter.
8 -
Im on xbox one s and ive gotten that too, couple of times
3 -
Hopefully we get news soon about what's to come in the mid chapter, don't they usually post the PTB info like 2 weeks after the latest chapter??
2 -
I think 3
3 -
yeah I thought it was around that time. I'm trying to stay positive for performance issues to be fixed but I feel like it's gonna take longer ugh. I just want this game to be playable again.
4 -
Me to. Normally it's two hotfixes on the Tuesdays after. Then we get informed on the PTB on the third. I really want to play it. I don't care about the balancing issues or stuff. I want a survivor to genuinely juke me on skill. Not because they lagged away or my animations froze.
5 -
pc player right there, getting everything that is descibed there. playing on 1050 TI, i5-7400 and 16 GB ram, I get that it's not the best pc, but it should run DBD at least on low settings with some bad resolution like 4:3 or something. yet I still get 50 fps+- and constant freezes. +1 to everything in this post
6 -
Welp for anyone not on Twitter I bring you more news
We'll be getting an update + more information on lag + RPD map next week.
8 -
inb4 they fix performance issues with the RPD map but neglect overall performance.
9 -
My gut is telling me it'll be map performance issues fixed but general performance issues will still be a thing. Or they will fix performance issues from patch on PC but console will have to wait.
2 -
I just want it work on my Xbox One S
4 -
Crash number 11. Again on azarovs, i was a survivor this time, game was particularly laggy going against doc
10 -
We really hope that this update, they have decided to redeem themselves by fixing the performance and lag issue. Just as we can fully enjoy the new map of the police station.
6 -
even after the patch you can guarantee when facing nemesis you will have one dc. It has consistently happened every nemesis I have played today. I myself have even been booted off. It tripped my router and forced my connection to stop working out of no where and I was runnin him just fine. Got away and started to heal and boop kicked off xbox live and out the game and then was reconnected after 10 to 15 secs. So prepare to have a survivor get booted every nemesis game and get a loss.
1 -
I've seen more crashes with Nemesis than with any other Killer.
5 -
I don't know how those of you experiencing so many crashes continue to play DBD in this state. I got fed up just by the performance being worse than normal, I would've dropped it faster had I been crashing too.
5 -
There is no way BHVR test the game on consoles based on this clip, credit @Edgars_Raven
9 -
Yeah it pretty much happens most of the time you use the tentacle its so painful to play
6 -
Yeah, also causes survivors to freeze when he primes the tentacle.
6 -
Notice how the tweet regarding fixes next week was very specifically responded to a message about the racoon city map being playable and not all the people complaining about performance....
12 -
When you select Nemesis, in the menu where you can also level him and so on, during his idle animation he sometimes takes out his tentacle. Does it freeze then too or only in-game?
If it happens there too it could indicate that the problem is maybe related to the animation of the tentacle or something, and not so much code that is executed when he takes it out in-game.
0 -
I'm sorry but these devs need to hurry up and fix this. I remember another post a year or so ago that got 30+ pages for the same thing...
9 -
In my experience, only in-game the tentacle freezes the game.
But i will say that the lobby is very laggy anyway, since release there is always a freeze when you click load out, or bloodweb, or select a perk, clicking any of the nodes pretty much.
7 -
Similar experience on my end.
My game has crashed about 5 times or so since the update and 4 of them have been on autohaven
7 -
Its not just Nemesis; taking out Victor as Twins causes it, sometimes when dragging Pyramid sword, Ghostface using power whether stalking or not etc. Definitely its something affecting all the killers in various degrees of severity, and in turn that seems to cause survivor frame drops also.
4 -
I cant confirm it from the survivor perspective, but as killer i get freezes when i ready my shred as demogorgon
5 -
Update: Crows now cause me immense lag. Gonna start bringing calm spirit.
5 -
Crash number 12, this time on lerys as Freddy
