I've turned SWF 1K's into 3/4K's way too much with this trick so now I'm warning survivors

It's just sad how many survivors seem oblivious to how a killers attack downs you (apart from the whole "lose a health state" bit). Too many also just sit at the gates and expect me to hit you and you'll autoescape cause of the animation.

The killer is entirely in control on how you fall when downed (except for trickster using his knives). When you're downed, you fall the opposite way the killer is facing; if they hit you in the back, you fall forward. If they hit you from the front, you backflip and face the other way.

I learned from my wraith days how this could be exploited to force a survivor expecting to get downed and escape (or are healing believing themselves to be too close to the exit to pick up) into a hook and maybe a kill if they're one their last stage or dont catch on.

You see, despite what it looks like and what I've said, it's not entirely based on where the killer is facing, but where they hit the survivor too. If I can hit the edge of your hitbox facing toward the exit from slightly behind you, I can force you to fall away from the exit, giving just enough time (except in rare cases of the fall animation skipping) to pick you up; and unless you can defend yourself (DS) or have another survivor ready to save you, you are most likely going to end up on a hook.

This works on any killer, meaning a killer who can instadown with an M1 via perk or ability can still one shot you and carry you off even while healthy.

Just because you're on the verge of escaping does not mean you are safe. You haven't won till you step over the line, and until that point the killer has a chance. So stop just standing there, and leave the trial if the killer starts swinging left or right, or moves to do so.

Actually, if you are healing (or otherwise stuck in an animation already) you don't have a falling animation, you just snap to the floor. This is why you see many survivors spam Point as the killer is hitting them out, because it overrides any falling animation. It's also a tech to get people who fall short of the escape line out, you heal them in between hit cooldown so that the killer is unable to pick them up, and if the killer downs you whilst healing them, you immediately go into a crawl animation. Basically, it's not a "rare case of the fall animation skipping", it's intentionally done to specifically prevent what you are warning people about.
