Revert billy pls
New billy is soo bad. You can still curve but only dumb survivors fall for it. Old billy was much better. New billy is soo easy to block and bait. Hes actually better than bubba, but he requires addons to do so.

As someone who lost his favorite killer, I support this idea.

Thanks. I recently started playing him again, and dropped demo for him. I love billy so much that i had no killer teachable from the bloodweb but leveled him up cos of how much i played him. However old billy was much better, its sad to see him gutted like this. Hes so easy to avoid as survivor now, and i wish he could atleast get buffed. He has like 3 good addons only, making him fun to play but very weak.
2 -
Would love to see this but it's very unlikely unfortunately. Some higher ups seem to be very stubborn.
5 -
Just work on his addons, cause old Billy was simply absurd.
1 -
True sadly.
4 -
Yeah... it does feel like this is the most likely scenario.
BHVR made a decision. Everyone told them how much they disliked the decision, reiterating how everyone saw Billy as the gold standard for balance. How there were roughly 10 other killers more in need of balance tweaks before Billy
BHVR seems incapable of admitting they made a poor decision and course correcting, so Billy probably won't be touched again for another 2 years. I mean... look at the Clown rework. Clown's (almost) exactly as garbage as he was before, and they still haven't given him further changes after 6 months
It is what it is

RIP Billy.
Billy deserved better.
8 -
Yes. Billy is really so fun killer play as or against him.
I really don't know why he nerfed so hard.
7 -
Idk about anyone else, but I'd rather have old Billy that had access to instasaw than the Billy now, because at least people ######### played Billy back then. I see Billy one in every 50 games, and there's a very slim chance it'll actually be a good Billy and not a frosty-eye NOED M1lly that doesn't know he has a chainsaw in his right hand. Out of every killer, he was the least deserving of the treatment they gave him.
and I rarely played him pre-nerf, btw. Likely around 5-10 times. I'm speaking from the survivor perspective lol.
3 -
All they had to do is just make charge speed add-ons not stack(To kill insta saw billy) along with rearranging rarities to the normal distribution and he would have been fine.
3 -
There was also the issue that he could eat pallets like it was nothing, Bubba can (Sorta) do the same but he has charges and doesnt have the mobility Billy has.
He shouldnt be allowed to use his Chainsaw as often as before, that alongside Insta saw was what made him so absurd as a killer.
1 -
Billies chain saw has one of the harshest miss/bump penalties in the game even before the nerf.
How often he used his saw was never an issue.
5 -
Yep. I loved playing as and playing against Billy.. just not the same anymore. All that truly needed to be removed was Insta-saw IMO.
He’s still alright but the changes were so unnecessary… makes me sad.
2 -
I mean, he could constantly bait it forcing the survivor to drop pallet early or leave it only to follow up with either a hit or a real chainsaw.
Thats the thing, he could easily delete pallets without any penalty, while also having a lot of map pressure due to his rush, on top of having a insta down, it was a little too much, which is why they added the Overheat, so he cant do it as often.
2 -
You more or less just admitted that overheat has failed to do its job.
So like I said How often billy used his power was never and has never been an issue.
Billy is the perfect example of a killer with an unnecessary restriction added to them that makes them less fun because the developers have gotten an obsession with them.
They KNOW billy's changes was a mistake which is why you don't see all the BS they pulled on him done to anyone else in reworks.
They are just to prideful to admit it and revert it.
12 -
I didnt admitted anything
Also reworks arent things to take lightly, specially heavy ones like Freddy, cause you are doing changes on a killer to a major level, its not something they can just do without thinking hard about it, its not as simple has a numerical change.
Billy simply needs an addon pass, thats about it, and if he needs addons to do his best? so what?, devs have said in the past that they want killers to use addons to perform their best, and i agree with that.

it really sucks that they murdered billy, now billy players are a dying breed
4 -
Oh no billy must be op as ######### because my brain dead team mates all seem to dc the second he chainsaws them
2 -
Right there with you I have at least like 200 hours of 1 tricking Billy and would go back in a heart beat if they just remove overheat
3 -
It's lonely being one of the last Hillbillies,
7 -
I would not mind if they bring back old Billy, but please no insta saw addons. Without those addons he was strong enough.
2 -
What do you think these people are complaining about? Overheat is annoying but it CAN be mostly removed from a common add on. He still controls identical in terms of movement and his base charge is the same.
People just want to be carried by Instasaw. All those players that were -actually- good at Billy are still playing him. Its just that very few people put the time in.
Don't get me wrong, before people jump down my throat, Overheat should NOT exist. It was complete unnecessary. But insta needed to be removed.
2 -
This ship already sailed like a year ago. I forget.
I'm happy Billy is gone, though. Old Billy was too easy to use and too powerful at the same time. He wasn't unbeatable but he would easily wreck most survivor teams in an instant especially with his add-ons. You'd need a fully-coordinated SWF to really deal with him. He wasn't healthy for the game.
Eh, Billy wasn't as prolific as Spirit at the time, but was more common than Nurse. Pre-nerf I'd get a Billy maybe once every 5 games. He was a commonly-used killer. If you only ever played him 10 times you can't have been playing long.
1 -
I will probably do a day of Freddy today and get depressed because I will remember the days of old Freddy.
I realized how fun he was only a few months before his rework. Played him sometimes since he came out as well. Those were good days in 2017. The game was the most interesting during that time.
2 -
His pov is so nauseating to play literally shaking all over the place when you move 2ft. IDC about the power or the add-ons why did they change his pov so badly.
0 -
rip billy
1 -
It will never happen, devs don't listen to players.
4 -
If they revert a change it's admitting they were wrong. They very rarely do that. /coughPatch1.9.2cough
I'm probably in the minority here but the one thing I like about his rework is he can't loop me with his chainsaw revved the entire time. I had a problem when Billy's never M1. People kept saying "Just 360" but I found that only works on noob Billys. Even if I like the fact he can't do that anymore I still would have the change reverted. There are only so few killers that are viable against swfs.

The good days of 2017 indeed! Freddy on release was definitely his best state ever: a fun, unique killer with a strong power that does leave room for counterplay. It doesn't get better than this.
Not to mention the game itself, aesthetics, events, everything. That is why I need a time machine to return to 1.8.0 and never come back.
0 -
It is sad to say this, but I think what happened with Patch 1.9.2 was a one time thing.
That was easily BVHR's worst decision ever, and the backlash was so intense that they admitted they were wrong and reverted almost everything (Nurse's pallet stun thingy is still in the game).
I don't understand how hard it is to do the same thing with Billy and Freddy. Admitting that you made a mistake is not a bad thing, it is actually a very good one.
2 -
It's obviously a terrible change to a beloved killer, but they'll never go back on it. The reasons go pretty deep and down to the core of how they make decisions. I suspect it was purely data-driven. They looked at the best Billy players and said "This kill rate is too high". The problem is, they often don't understand the mechanisms behind the data. The balance team thinks killers like Pig and Myers are in a good spot. They thought the issue with Freddy was the amount of snares he could set (?), when anyone who plays survivor or Freddy at a high level knows a safe pallet is still safe regardless of whether there are 5 snares at the tile or 500 snares. Hint: all of the killers with high kill rates synergize remarkably well with slowdown perks.
But it seems to be a bit of a blind spot for whatever reason, and they don't seem to have a great grasp of chase mechanics at a high level. They look at a killer and say "Something about this killer is OP, so we're going to nerf in broad strokes and see where we're at". To wit, Billy hasn't changed at all vs average to slightly above average survivors. The same basic mindgames and curves still work. Old Billy used to be able to cheese downs on good/great survivors with instasaw add ons if the killer wasn't great at zoning and curving. Now Billy has lost the ability to zone with his saw because of the overheat, and it's often absolutely necessary against high level survivors.
The nerf did nothing to make him less oppressive against the vast majority of players. He still has the same exact synergies he had with Ruin/Pop/etc. It just made him 10x less fun to play, less fun play against because you have to take more M1s, and killed chase potential that didn't even need to be addressed.
2 -
Ironically billy never had "too high kill rate" he was never above 4th highest in KR in any KR report ever.
Yes in not a single KR report even with insta saw billy did he ever have higher KR then spirit, freddy, and i forget who was the third.
1 -
That we saw, no, he was never highest. But they sort differently than the way they release stats to us. They can look beyond just red ranks and see where the top percentage of the players for any particular killer stands. I know for a fact they've mentioned they believe Oni is the strongest killer because he has the highest kill rate amongst the top percentage of Oni players.
1 -
Given that they never show us any evidence of it and have out right lied to us about things...
Like how they weren't doing any major changes to Billy.... Then gutted him
or
When they said they were only touching nurse's add-ons and not her base power... Then added the charge system that gutted her base power.
Unless they show us we can't trust them on that!
2 -
"Lego builders shouldn't be allowed to snap together bricks as often as they do!11!1!!1"
You people realise this is how you sound when you say stuff like that, yeah?
2 -
No. His maneuverability was shadow-nerfed/buggered up some months prior to the uber-nerf, alongside his POV, his base charge time (increased by ±0.2 seconds), his movement speed when he charges the chainsaw (used to slow down at 100%. Now he loses ground on survivors) and other things. That stupid red bar is NOT the only difference between current and OG Billy.
2 -
I think old MoM was a close 2nd. That was definitely a "######### were you thinking? "moment. Though with Ash they probably did that deliberately for more $$$. I've seen tons of games release a new character that is OP then after the sales die down. They get hit with the nerf hammer.
1 -
Oh no...now I am going to have nightmares with that thing again...
1 -
Played him meaning played AS him. I've been playing since early 2017, I just never liked playing as Billy. I faced him plenty, though.
My point was, I enjoyed facing old Billy more frequently pre-nerf than I do facing commonly played killers now, as not only do I rarely see Billy, but a lot of commonly played killers are boring. The only unfun thing was instasaw, and that was STILL more fun to play against than the killers that are common right now. The nerf hurt my experience in DBD more than it helped, and again, that's not from the perspective of someone who played as Billy.
1 -
do you have anything to back these claims up? they 100% shadow nerfed plenty of aspects about him, but besides the POV change, I haven't ever heard of his charge time being increased and charging movement speed being affected.

What is the infamous patch 1.9.2 im interested now

See it for yourself:

Because he has a hammer on his right hand

If yellow boots addon was base, I would play Billy more than just for dailies. I hate to rely on addons to have fun.

LOOK, IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT
FORGIVE ME

I don't understand why he was nerfed not only in add-ons but also in basic performance, even after a year. I want to see more of him.
0 -
Yep.
0 -
I literally never used insta saw, infact I ran him almost exclusively addonless with the occasional drift King mixed in for memes, and I dont wanna toot my own horn but I got pretty good at landing curves and just general billy gameplay and overheat along with some audio changes ruined my fun with him.
0 -
I maybe blind but I keep seeing like 12+ pallets per Map and with the Hold W you can just keep dropping pallet like its nothing because you can trust your team(SWF) to do Gens. A Killer should be able to eat pallets to punish wasteful resource management. Billy got the CD for the "Resource Management" why not let Survivors mange their resource too.
