Behavior has killed its PC community simply by defaulting new players to Cross-Play when they join.
Now, I'm not very good at DBD but I've played it long enough to know when the Community is dying overall. Ever since this Cross-Play feature was implemented the Waiting time for PC players has skyrocketed up ten fold. I remember before Cross-Play was a thing I could queue up and get a match in minutes, now it takes hour-long time intervals to even get a full PC match. You may ask, "what's the difference? why does it matter whether you have PC players or console players playing at the same time? At the end of the day they're still players".
Except the thing about playing with console players is that the skill-gap between the PC community and the Console Community is obvious. When I play in a PC match and the killer chases me it's fun, when I play in a console cross-play match and the Killer chases me I'm bored. It's also easier to formulate plans with your team in the in-game chat when you get in a lobby so everybody knows what to do, you can't really communicate or get to know your team if they're on console which is pretty lame. I really hope that Behavior defaults PC players to the PC community instead of the Cross-play community because as of now it's impossible to play with only PC players.
Whoever made the decision to Default PC players to the Console Community singlehandedly found out a way to kill the PC community. Fix this crap.

By the way, this new HUD is ass and way more convoluted. the decisions made for this game have been POOR.

Kinda sounds like a you problem.
I'm doing just fine, and DBD is still going despite years of people like you saying it's dying.
18 -
Doesn't make any sense
The only time a PC and Console killer are visibly different is when they're playing Nurse or Huntress.
6 -
The wait times have been increasing exponentially and that's a fact
0 -
you can run circles around some of these console killers and at a certain point it's easy to realize just how unfair it is

Screw statistics, I'm gonna believe this guy because he says it so confidently

Yeah I switched to pc from console and didn't instantly become better somehow apart from less performance issues. And I've seen plenty of self-carers, urban evaders, dcing on first down, farming off hook without BT, chasing one survivor for five gens, etc etc all on pc. The pc master race thing was a joke that got out of hand, that someone switches crossplay off and subjects themselves to 60+ minute queue times for no reason demonstrates it well.

pc good console bad bla bla
The game is not even close to dying. In fact, DBD is probably at its peak now.

that skill cap is gonna be fixed with MMR.

Actually on PS5 I've been able to get into cross play matches in under 30 seconds on both sides for about a week.
So yeah, must be an issue amongst elitist PC players that believe there's a skill gap rather than a play style difference.
When cross play started I thought all pc players were just worse than console. But I've noticed they've both been playing very differently up until cross play, so because pc played different than me I assumed they were bad. But it's just different styles.

I’m on PC and my Survivor wait times are near instant before 8PM and become 5-10 minutes after. Killer is the opposite, where there is about a 10 minute wait before 8PM and near instant after.

So play killer if you want a challenge? Instant lobbies too.

I am on console and i bet 100€ i am better than you.
Sweet how you act like you PC guys are superior again and how you act like you know everything.
Also you do know console also got voice chat?
Sure, you dont have ingame voice chat but same goes for PC.
You still can use voice chat channels on Console just like you can use Discord for example on PC.

Hmmmm.

Is it just me that equates this argument to a couple of nerds pushing their glasses up their noses and arguing over which dice are better to use when playing dungeons and dragons. 😂

I got instant queues yesterday for killer and 2man swf…
are you talking about queue times when you have crossplay off?
0 -
Or when the game freezes because "######### you that's why"
4 -
I believe he is playing with the Crossplay off, so he's just in the PC pool of players. Being cut off from the entire console playerbase would likely send queue times soaring for a PC player

"PC masterrace" are there people taking this serious?

this post is a joke, right? most pc players have an inflated ego and aren't as good as they think they are.
Us console players cut our teeth on this horribly optimized game where we can't even use Dead Hard or even other exhaustion perks besides Head On, and we get crippled by Sloppy/Exposed, and we have to time and commit our plays at least a second in advance because this game runs like ass. Some killers have a higher skill expression ceiling on PC due to better hardware/KB+M but you're grossly exaggerating the gap.
We're not any worse than you.
If anything, who would want to play with PC players? You guys are hackers. See, I can generalize and make myself look like an idiot too.

I love seeing console survivors in my lobby when I play killer. Usually means I am seeing some potatoes.

Might wanna wait a couple weeks after event. Game will be at half population again unless they fix EVERYthing that is wrong with the game, which is a lot. Population will always jump during a new DLC or event.
And as for the PC versus console debate, it's definitely takes more "skill" to play console because they don't have all the game enhancing perks that PCs have. And as for cross play, many of the top games have dropped PC from cross play all together, which is how it should always be. PC players have too many advantages, and it's too easy to cheat, which will never be stoppable.
4 -
Exactly. In fact it continues to grow.
2 -
The que times for survivors shot up because killer is a miserable ######### slog and no-one wants to touch it. If you go play some killer, you'll have instant ques.

An hour?!
Are you unironically using McDonalds WiFi?!

I've had it take nearly as long just by playing in AU. I've had it take longer by playing in a SWF group.
I can't imagine the no-crossplay sweatfest is quick compared to those two options. An average of hour-long search times seems very plausible.

In other games, PC actually does have an advantage: M&K. That doesn't really exist in DbD, I play on PC with a controller because it's actually easier unless you're playing Huntress or some such killer.
Also, PC also has a big disadvantage a lot of the time: no aim assist. Which is also something that doesn't exist in DbD.
Aldo, cheaters can just play in console matches. That's totally a thing that they were doing back in the day and I doubt it's even possible to patch out.

there is no functional difference between pc and console survivor. Only killers have issues because of stick controls such as not having full forward movement while strafing.
1 -
I completely disagree. Crossplay was long overdue and made everything better.
Except one thing: the fact that no one knows each other anymore. Before it was implemented, it wasn't unusual to play with the same people multiple times, which is way harder now because of the sheer amount of players.
However, in the end this is just a very minor inconvenience.

I can't imagine at all that it's plausible.

You must play in a very nice region at a very nice time, then. I spent most of a year having solo que times taking upwards of half an hour at peak times, and that's with crossplay on. Everyone I've talked to or seen complaining about no-crossplay que times has said that it severely increased the wait times because of the significantly smaller playerbase that bullies out casual players.

Yeah i guess i've had extroardinary amounts of good luck for a whopping 5 years, cause i've always had under a minute of waiting. (For searching a lobby, lobby times are excluded since people can leave, altering the amount of wait time.)
The only significant reductions i've had are when crossplay was actually added and i had it off, and during this event.
Not even Executioner being introduced hit my wait times.
Right now i'm back to under a minute again, and especially during the evenings it's like 10 seconds.

Playing on PC and have no reason to look down on my fellow gamers that play on different platforms. Your attitude is an elitist one, crossplay is a great addition to the gaming industry to unite gamers to play the game together and it is good it is on by default.
2 -
This isn't quite true, there's some kind of lock-on in DbD. You can see here that when Nea starts to ascend to Heaven, you can see Spirit freak out and start jerking/snapping upwards.

crossplay off queue times are fine on weekends and sometimes late in the day when people are home.

That's not aim assist, that's the hit cone that both PC and Console have because it's a basic function of the game. Survivors hitboxes are shaped like pills, killers hitboxes are shape dlike larger pills, so of course the Devs used an extremely simplified mechanic for hits: when killers "swing" their weapon, it functions like a hitscan and impacts with the closest thing in the attack cone. For reasons unknown, this also causes your camera to recentre itself on the object you are swinging at. Apparently it has something to do with making it look better, I'm not entirely sure why.
It's actually been demonstrated by plenty of killers on PC, especially back before the game absolutely crapped itself and people were more worried about the fact that they were doing 180's into walls instead of hitting the people in front of them than they were about most of the playerbase not being able to play, with only current-gen consoles and high-end PC's running properly.

is that what that is? That explains the funny animations then

I don't have this issue, when I queue I can still find a game in minutes, sometimes literal seconds. I play on EU server, perhaps there's just more EU players than US, Australia, Asia, etc
Maybe queuing with someone from console, I commonly queue with my friend on Xbox (Only then do queue times get longer, but nowhere close to 10 minutes)
