Were Fog Offerings Nerfed a While Back?
What’s up with the fog offerings? No matter what offering they don’t seem to add any fog… Are they bugged or stealth nerfed? Or were they nerfed with patch notes? I haven’t seen any one mention it here or any where else. Also, no one uses those offerings any more so that tells me the general consensus is they are useless.
If this is not a bug, then why have them in the game taking up space on the Bloodweb? The purple bottle doesn’t even add a smidge of fog. And now that I think about it, there is no default fog either like the game’s first 3 years.

Fog has barely done anything in years, in early builds of the game I'm pretty sure that fog was opaque, meaning you couldn't see through it. But now you can, so fog offerings hardly do anything as it is.

Fog basically doesn’t exist anymore which is a shame. I stacked 2 purple ones last night and it barely did anything

Fog offerings should just be retired like the moonlight offerings; they barely do anything except clutter up the bloodweb
7 -
They just serve as a blood point waster.

Smh. Damn shame. So pretty much this was stealth nerfed like the barrels.
Exactly. I agree. They should be removed. If they were to be nerfed, then fine. I’m not happy about it, but I accept it. But don’t leave them in the Bloodweb knowing they don’t do anything but eat our Bloodpoints and serve as a road block to better items/offerings. That’s underhanded and it rubs me the wrong way. Very disappointed in the devs for this one.

Even with maximum fog, it's just a little bit of wisp blowing around on the map. It's virtually useless... unless I'm playing survivor and see that the killer put it on- then I know I'm about to go against either Hag, Trapper, or a stealth killer, because sometimes they like to pretend that it will actually do something and obscure their traps or themselves while stalking 😭😭 LMAOOO

They constantly blinded the blight before his PoV fix and not much else.
Also as someone who played blight through that made me realize these offerings are unbalance-able.
I feel like they should just be removed for the same reason the moonlight offerings were: To let the developers actually control both the ambience and stealth possibilities of all maps.
It would make their design ideals more consistent along with just clearing out the bloodweb of junk.

One time my friends and I did 4 max fog offerings for the fun of it. It... didn't do anything.
So yeah I'm pretty sure they're useless. RIP.

Interesting…never knew.

Yeah, its effect is barely noticeable. They need to massively increase the Fog on every map and then make those offerings even more "powerful", if I may put it that way.
3 -
Yeah, I think it’s one of their minor attempts at easing the burden on performance on some platforms.
2 -
Could be but graphically updating all maps and character models isn’t exactly helping tbh

Hopefully their planned transition to an entirely new engine helps. It would be totally wicked one day if they could add volumetric fog like seen in Returnal. The fog in that game is damn cool, and physically reacts to everything passing through it.
1 -
That would be awesome but unlikely tbh. Current gen support is already up for debate at this point

I wish they did the exact opposite, and helped performance by completely flooding the maps with fog, like in the original Silent Hill.

1 purple fog offering is the maximum you can bring.

You used to be able to stack 2 for a noticeable effect.

It says they stack in the description

They ruined fog and then went the other way by adding bright cosmetics.

Dead By Daylight is now Dead At 8 AM, and I don't think the reasoning is very good
Sure, it used to be easier for survivors to hide back when the map was darker, but what good is hiding realistically? Teams don't win by Urban Evasioning behind rocks. I see no reason to believe this was actually a significant advantage.

Dead at 8AM: The Killers are too lazy to chase anyone and instead sit down to have a continental breakfast while the survivors are in the kitchen.

with the new map reworks they went from pitiful to useless

I really really hope the fog will be reworked as part of the Realm Beyond Update.
it’s the one thing that really made the unique atmosphere in this game and currently it feels like it’s completely gone.
there is mentioning of the fog in many of the lore entries and it should feel more prominent!

I found it useful for not being spotted running for hook saves and 1 v 1 exit gate mind games.

I wish they would get rid of the fog offerings. Their fog makes my PS4 sound like a jet engine, and it gets worse with every update.

They were stealth nerfed a long time ago when BHVR changed from the previous version of Unreal Engine to the current engine version build.
The fog mechanics were severely nerfed and basically the offerings don't do jack. They weren't that big a deal in the past but at least before if you stacked Murky Reagents the smoke got really thick. It wasn't as big a deal as you would think and killer could still see you easy, and you could still see Myers or Pig sneaking around without much problem.
But when they did the big engine overhaul to the new version of UE they changed the fog mechanics completely and it resulted in what you see today. Reagent offerings have been useless for like the last two years or so. Just another one of the many, many things that BHVR did that completely killed the game's atmosphere.

Trust me, Fog used to be a lot and I mean A LOT thicker, as killer you could only see 5ft in front of you with just one Murky Reagents.
Theyre old and pretty outdatted, I think its time to disable them tbh
1 -
A damn shame.
Yup, it was thick enough not to get spotted out in the open from far- which I liked. I can tolerate the change, I just don’t like the guise of pretending like nothing has changed and now regents have been reduced to nothing more than BP leeches.

Iirc there's a max to how foggy it can get with the purple bottle making it the max, so if you bring a purple & yellow you're wasting the yellow bottle.

It was just thick enough, it was TOO thick
No one likes having a sense of theirs basically taken away
