I love the way they work now minus the bug where it shows the killer false info. Pallets are back to being fair minus that bug that should be fixed soon

I hate that we're back to looping and greeding the pallets. Good bye m1 killers and hello again chase/pallet denier killers. Looks like I'm done with Pig, Ghostie, and Trapper and will have to go back to being a full time Hag and Doc main and should start getting good with Pyramid Head and Nemesis.

I mean, Pig, Ghostface, and Trapper were all also pretty hardcore countered by the whole hold w and pre-drop strat, only anti-chase killers like Pyramid Head, Doctor, and Nemesis were also countered really badly. If we return to the looping + greeding meta then Spirit Fury/Enduring, Brutal, Bamboozle, etc all become much better perks, and killers without movement but strong chase powers also become so much better.

Looping is the best of 3 evils (the other 2 being massive stealth and hold w pre-drop) for the game imho. There's also a lot more counterplay to looping than the other 2

For how I play the hold W doesn't work as well against me because I know how to cut people off and use map knowledge to my advantage.

    I absolutely hate looping.

I've only had one hit reset so far but I've already noticed a lot of Survivors are more prone to running the same loop over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again until they finally drop the pallet instead of keeping the chase interesting and switching up tiles or evading away. It gets boring incredibly quickly and takes away any variety of the game. Trapper could still work for me since all I'd have to do is identify the strong loops and go lock them down and hope they don't watch me do it and disarm them immediately but when every match is "get in chase find the shack or long wall loop closest to me and run it until the killer Bloodlusts and is about to get a hit before dropping and moving to the next strongest loop" playing killer becomes more if a boring chore and just a repetitive and monotonous task.

Sorry to tell you, but the killer community is dwarfed by the survivor community. Most players will love this change and have no reason to hate it because they only play survivor. I personally, as someone who players 50/50, feel like all the complaining about getting hit through pallets so often was over exaggerated. People usually just threw the pallet too late and got hit and then whined about getting hit through it. But that really doesn't matter. Just look at the game's history and you can see all the absurd things that have been added to benefit the survivor because people whined and complained, that were then removed because they were absurdly broken and overpowered.

I am happy for the people who are, somehow, enjoying this new stun validation, but I know I am not.

I've literally had situations where I hit a survivor, I hear their scream, I see the blood...and they walk away as if nothing had happened.

One of those moments happened during a critical scenario, which eventually allowed that survivor to escape. This isn't fair.

If a survivor messes up the pallet timing, they should be punished. Not me.

I couldn't see much of it as a survivor, my experience was limited and most killers were respecting pallets. Trust me, I would love a return to hardcore looping instead of the "hold W" thingy, but this probably isn't the best way to do it.

Once enough killers start queueing as survivors again it'll change again for a while. But frankly, that's like an unhealthy relationship with an abusive partner you walk away from yet constantly find yourself going back to when you should find anew game instead, regardless of their pecs or showering you with gifs. Once the double xp is over I'm uninstalling this game for good, which I can do since I did it almost 5 years ago and didn't play again until last year. Even if Evil Dead turns out bad (I doubt anything will be worse than dbd no matter how bad) I would rather sit and stare at the static on old tv broadcasts all night than play this garbage any longer especially without double xp and as stingy as this community is like will all of the cakes.

The saying goes, "I don't get paid enough for this.". It would take at least minimum wage to get me to ever install or run this game again, especially as killer, after monday. Those streamers you watch? If they weren't making money off of it, believe me, most of them would not be playing this. I guarantee it. Especially the killer streamers.

Theres no risks to dropping pallets anymore. They have become the safe place of the game. I literally just stand there as a survivor and know that it doesn't matter if the killer starts swinging first, I'm getting away unscathed.

And as a killer it doesnt matter how well I have timed my lunge, I get stunned every time. I have the best internet available to me and its plugged straight in to my ps4, yet I'm supposed to believe that EVERY single time I have swung at a survivor who is waiting at a pallet I have had higher ping? Sorry, but that's incredibly unlikely.

I'm not gonna here and pretend I'm a super good red rank player because I'm not and I acknowledge that maybe things would have been different if I would ever have reached those ranks, but at the ranks I was at survivor already felt too easy before the pallet update, now looping around a pallet as a survivor feels like it has no risk whatsoever.

If they got away fine then they didn't mess up, you did. Just because you hear the scream doesn't mean you "deserved" the hit. You're just frustrated that you heard them scream because you associate the scream with a hit. If they didn't scream you would be none the wiser. The server is the referee now, instead of your client, which is 100% more fair. No offense but you need to get over your Pavlovian conditioning.

  • GeneralV
    GeneralV Member Posts: 11,050

The thing is, on some of those moments I had the best ping of the lobby. If the server is the referee, then it should've given me the hit on those situations at least, since what was happening on my screen was closer to what happened in the server.

But it didn't do that, regardless of my ping.

  • Jason_Soreknees
    Jason_Soreknees Member Posts: 51

Your probably about be told that your ping in game isn't accurate, and that it must have been higher than the survivors at the exact second you swung due to lag spiking etc

Which I wouldnt have a problem believing if it wasnt benefitting the survivor every single time. I must have had 50 plus of these situations pop up as both killer and survivor, and the killer has yet to have the hit count.

  • ReikoMori
    ReikoMori Member Posts: 3,333

The server was the referee before the patch as well the only different is that instead of feeding the player blatantly bad audio visual information it was trying to split the difference best it could i.e. Survivor getting the stun and the killer getting the hit.

Now it has been tuned to automatically reject the hit if a stun is going to happen at the same time, but the game is still feeding you information to the contrary, that is a problem. It's even worse for a killer like Huntress whose hatchet hits are being rejected when someone drops a palette or vaults at the same time. That doesn't make any sense no matter how you look at it.

All they did was just shift more problematic issues into killers' laps while also taking yet another strategic interaction aspect and throwing it in the trash. There is nothing fair about this situation it's just another instance of hammer and nail problem solving creating more issues and stress for a significant portion of the playerbase.

Personally I'm annoyed by the fact it shows you got the hit and then "oops, nevermind".

  • truegod_10
    truegod_10 Member Posts: 393

This is such a dumb logic in a game where sound is everything. Doctor shocks someone and the scream tells him it hits. There are an endless amount of abilities that work like this.

This would be like a bug where the killers terror radius doesnt come in partially just at full blast like they are behind you or not at all. It would be very annoying for survivors just like this one is for killers.

  • AGM
    AGM Member Posts: 806

I understand that it's frustrating, and it should be fixed. But the problem is the false scream and vfx, not the new pallet system. People are only feeling "robbed" because of the false feedback. If that didn't happen you'd just accept it as a normal stun. But now that we know that this can happen, we can just pay a little more attention after swinging through pallets to make sure that the hit connected or not.

    GrimoireWeiss Member Posts: 1,452

I love the change. I've played tons of killer games since the update and only got my hit rejected once, and it was during a time of the day my internet started having hiccups. Now as survivor I actually feel I can use pallets and go for stuns again. It was pretty boring having to pre drop because I don't know the killer's ping.

  • truegod_10
    truegod_10 Member Posts: 393

I dont disagree with you, but it is still very annoying. Also, minimizing it for others when a lot of people still don't know about it/why it is happening is just dumb. Not everyone who plays dbd does so constantly or reads the forums all the time.

    WeenieDog Member Posts: 2,184

The only thing I've noticed as killer is that in some games, pallets seemed to have a bigger stun range, but that's it. I have yet to have a false pallet hit.

Though I take the nuke stuns the same way as when I hatchet/spear people around the corner, I guess it hit on their screen.

  • MojoTheFabulous
    MojoTheFabulous Member Posts: 2,015

They just need to figure out a way to make it so the killer doesn't get the appearance of landing a hit on their screen only for it to be taken away because that ######### feels terrible. Other than that I haven't noticed much of a difference.

Wanna take a look at this and claim its just a ping thing?

I'll even add timestamps for you.

0:17 seconds, survivor stuns killer even though both are on same side of pallet and hit is rejected.

    0:22 same thing again.

BHVR clearly altered the algorithm far more than just 'whose action got to the server first'. Or are you going to claim that a survivor dropping a pallet should stun a killer behind him even on the same side of a pallet?

  • Zozzy

Once they figure out you have these perks they just go back to W and predrop.

  • Zozzy
    Zozzy Member Posts: 4,759

It is determined by the survivors client and nothing more. I lost to an 80 ping survivor with sub 20 ping.

So you get value out of these perks at least once instead of literally never

The person who made that video is purposely swinging late to TRY to trigger false hits. Their input reached the server after the server deemed the pallet was 50% thrown. As for same-side stuns, yes, they happen, and could happen prior to this patch, though they're really really really rare in your average game.

But what the video didn't show is what happens if, say, you don't wait until the very last second to swing. Or playing like you don't expect free hits at every pallet.

Anyone can make a montage of false hits. They're not that hard to pull off if you're trying for it. But that's not how the real game is played. Nobody should be expecting free hits at pallets. If they do happen, it should be an "oh, neat" moment. If they don't, then you get outplayed, including false hits. Simple as that.

Nah man, i literally have been playing survivor all day, and is serious bullshit. I can greed pallets all i want but wont get hit. Its not a matter of false info, id about an stupid amount of i frames.

I agree. This new hit validation sucks in my opinion.

This video showcases how unfair it is to killers. And before anyone says it, yes, I have good ping.

Behavior just fliped all the bs stuff on the survivors side over to killer.

It's not a bug, it's just your client reacting to what you have done and the server invalidating it. At least based on another game, the devs revealed they need to show the real-time interaction otherwise you will see a delay in getting credit for a hit that was valid and that introduces a host of other visual problems. On topic, I love the change. It feels good not to get hit thru pallets like Survivors have been suffering for since day one.

My opinion is this kind of thing feels bad and is just plain frustrating in a game full of frustrations. It's like a bandaid fix for a problem that's not really easy to solve for any game.

Fact is, I'll never support anything in this game that rewards you for playing greedy

As The Killer, I have had one hit validated and that was due to my latency. Otherwise no issues whatsoever, but I have an average of 18-30ms ping. So my interactions are usually very crispy.

    uninstalling*

And double bloodpoints, xp is for rifts and shards.

And I uninstalled it from steam last night after the final time it kicked me in the middle of a match with the disconnection from the host bug and gave me a yet increasing 'penalty' for it and deleted it on the PS5 this morning once the event was over and hence the fun in denying as much bp as possible from other players as killer or a sandbagging survivor was over (that was the majority of the fun once i got tired of the kicks on steam happening a few times a day). The survivor queue times returning to more normal lengths will do that well enough. I no longer have use for a forum account either, as I quit for almost 4 years once and it's permanent this time. Whether or not the Evil Dead game is good. Though hopefully it is good, since without competition you'll have the game you deserve if you continue taking it in the backdoor from this developer while continuing to pay them for it with 15 dollar skins every few weeks.

Nope, my least favorite part is the new vacuum effect as well, where survivors get an extra bit of distance

I can tell its there due to it messing with muscle memory and honestly its annoying

  • ukenicky
    ukenicky Member Posts: 1,352

As someone who plays both sides equally I can say I enjoy these changes a lot as survivor. As killer I'm going to be very honest here: I haven't noticed much difference. I either respect pallets or hit through them, usually the former so I'm not used to even ever hitting through them like a lot of killers are having this problem where they hear them scream and go down but then are back up immediately etc etc

Like I said I just respect the pallet, break or try to mind game around it and these changes honestly haven't affected me too much. If I want to hit through pallets I'll use Spirit Fury Enduring and not count on server rng.

So I should just forget how momentum works if your swinging an object down and throw something down ontop of it it's going to stop in place?
