Slow down gen speeds
As killer, you pretty much need gen regression perks because the speeds are too fast. Alot of the time, two gens pop in first chase. Not to mention how survivors spawn right next to gens 8/10 of the time. So my idea is to make it to where it takes about 2x the time it would normally take right now to do a gen. Stuff like brand new parts are also in the game, making gen defense bad without perks. The average chase is about 30 seconds, and thats the same amount of time kt takes to do a gen with 3 people.

Slowing gens would suck for survivors personally i think they should add a better default kick or a second objective.
6 -
I mean not really, there are a lot more things that suck for killers so i disagree. Plus most problems survivors have cn be fixed with items or perks
1 -
It would make the game more boring for survivors.
5 -
Kicking a gen should do 5% damage and regress at the same exact rate that survivors fix gens (instead of 1/4th the rate they're repaired at).
2 -
any sort of thing like this would have to be paired with a penalty to killers for camping/ tunneling for there to be any balance in the force.
3 -
Is this the only excuse people have? Really? It would make the game more slow paced and force survivors to actually use skill and loop killers instead of holding m1 one a gen. Think about how boring it is for killers to constantly have to deal with gens flying.
0 -
This would really help
2 -
Corrupt tier 1 as base would solve this. Issue isnt as much gen speeds as it is early game issues. 4 survivors spawning on separate gens at game start is the real killer.
This is why I was hyped for the early game change they was talking about but never done

bro hex ruin already exists, literally all you need to do is look at a survivor and the gens start slowing down. and thats on top of me having to run around looking for the hex totem, playing survivor is already borderline so awful and boring i want to quit the game, if you slow down gen speeds i think it might just be the thing that pushes me to hit the esc button permanently rn.

There ARE penalties qto tunneling and camping. For example you get a ranking penalty to proximity to hooked survivors, and tunneling can be countered with DS.
0 -
Ruin got nerfed so its not even good anymore, and besides if you bring ruin its gonna get cleansed 5 seconds into the match due to all the anti totem perks.
0 -
the proximity penalty is an absolute joke and DS doesnt stop someone who truly just wants to put someone back in queue. The argument for it being a viable strategy and against it being scummy is because of gen speeds so if gens slow down there needs to be a penalty to do it or an extremely greater incentive to leave the hook.
1 -
While i cant argue with the ds one, the thing is that the killer would be throwing the game by hardcore tunneling one survivor. So everyone else would escape and the killer would depip as such.

Slowing down the gens would be too powerful in some circumstances. What we need is more ways for killers to apply pressure and get across the map. We could also due with a change to gen kicking. It takes a killer 2 secs to kick a gen but it takes a survivor a split second to stop the regression.
1 -
Then a 3 gen could be a potential taking game hostage. The killer can just walk among the gens and kick them, doing nothing else.
2 -
not if the gens slow down they wouldn't...which was the point of the thread, and why i said it would have to be paired with a hook camping/tunneling penalty for balance
1 -
3 gens can be prevented assurvivor by bringing Deja Vu, and its a free perk
0 -
Yeah, and THERES ALREADY A PENALTY FOR BOTH.
0 -
maybe youre not getting it...if gens slow down, then the other survivors wont get the free escape because it will take longer for them to do the gens while the killer tunnels the one person, so there is no depip or penalty
1 -
Honestly, I think map size is the real problem. Most killers have a hard time applying pressure when the maps are as big as the pacific ocean. There is a reason Nurse and Spirit are so good. (Blight to some extent too)
2 -
and the proximity penalty does almost nothing and will be couneracted by the fact that they can now get an easy faceroll game against the other 3 survs alone who will have to do more since the gens slow down.

I've been saying on here for a long time now to give kicks for killers a mini "pop" effect on their initial kicks, like a 5% chunk taken off at the kick. That takes care of three problems. Gen speeds, gen tapping by survivors (cus I mean if you wanna tap it and let me shave off more than just 5%, go for it), and makes kicking gens more worth it for killers who don't have or run the meta gen regressing perks.
1 -
Perks arent fixes they're bandaids. I doesn't matter if something else sucks for killers if you nerf gens then survivor games become extremely boring. Gen speeds aren't the cause of the problem they are a symptom
0 -
Gen speeds are balanced for end game. When there's only one gen left, and three gens for the killer to patrol it's in the killers favour as it's harder for survivors to avoid the killer.
If there is a close three-gen, then slower gen speeds would be prohibitive.
It would be nice if there was some kind of scaling slowdown mechanic, that made gen speeds slower at first. It doesn't just need to be "the first gens are slower", but it could be something like, kicking a gen instantly regresses it by 1% for each gen that needs to be repaired. So at 5 gens it's 5% regression, and the last gen, kicking only regresses by 1%.

I don't think slowing down gens is the answer. If you're doing a gen alone it's already borderline boring anyway.
I do like the idea of a secondary objective though. Friday the 13th led be to DBD and one thing I liked more about F13 was the variety. Perhaps they could increase the colours of gens so that green gens been their wires patching too and blue gens need a new part found somewhere on the map before you can repair it. This would change how the new part item works but I think it would make it more useful.

So? Having a potential for taking the game hostage is never good.
0 -
Survicors can hold the game hosttage by hiding in lockers all game, i dont see your point
0 -
And unlike survivors, killers cant prevent that

As a killer main with way to many hours in this game on PC and PS4 gen speeds are a tricky subject. They don't necessarily go to fast since a single survivor on a gen is close to around 3 mins. The issues arise with perks like Prove Thyself, Leader, Jill perk (blanking on name), and Flash Bang encouraging gen rushing at the expense of other survivors.
The only 2 viable solutions I know of would be BHVR recoding tiles so that max survivors on gen would be 2 not 3. This reigns in some of the troublesome meta perks and would regulate speed fairly well.
The other would be a second end game objective such as, when all five generators are completed 2 chest spawn in the map, these chest contain keys to unlock the exit gates. If gives survivors something to do, killers could be blind to the chest so they would have to run around as well and it gives options. The only downside is the trolling survivors of SoloQ grabbing a key and golding a game hostage. That puts the impetus on BHVR to actually investigate their reporting system, which I doubt they want to do, need that money for licensed killers!

Gen rush, Tunnel, Camping are the main problems of this game. When Survivors still have to use BT, DS incase Killer tunnel, camping. Killer will have to use Gen slow down to fight Gen rush.
Tunnel/Camping gets punished by ranking is as weak argument as Longer Gen is boring.
I can say Gen rush is also get punished by ranking since all Survivors get is 2k Objective and 5k Escape, so.....

Now it wouldn't change much. Survivors will just learn to wait for end of it, before actually starting to play. I have played against teams that did it even against actual Corrupt.
1 -
Actually it would change alot. If you cant find someone during a whole minute then that's an area you need to improve on.
0 people on gens is always better than 4 people on gens. But like I said it's not always gen speed that's the issue it's the early game.
If you dont have ruin and everyone jumps on a gen then even getting the fastest down possible will put you in a bad situation due to 3 survivors working on gens. This is why corrupt is so good at the higher level games.
2 -
We already spend at minimum 80 seconds per gen unless we group up on them and have prove thyself.
If you're applying gen pressure or have something that covers them or regresses them(RUIN) you really don't need that...
Have you played survivor and seen how long it takes to get through a gen?

You can't reasonably complain about gen slowdown perks being mandatory and then go on to suggest making anti-tunnelling perks mandatory.
Truth is, camping is on the verge of being too effective, so any gen slowdown would bump it up to secure a 2K or better.
Gens going too fast can't be solved as long as camping is a thing.

Gen Speeds are fine. The percieved imbalance stems from the fact that the vast majority of killers are lacking the tool set to combat good survivors. This is why everyone worth their salt faced only Blights and Nurses during mmr (Spirit bugged btw). The Killer players can´t pick anything else and expect good results (apart from certain outliers like Phead for example that can be circumstantially good).
