Going for flashlight saves are overrated
In my opinion. Think about you have to be right there at the right time when a killer downs someone assuming they don’t have light born don’t look into a wall which most do, or hope they didn’t knock it out earlier with Franklins. So you have to follow a chase constantly instead of fixing a gen cleansing a hex or healing a teammate. For the slim chance the killer didn’t see a flashlight in the lobby and doesn’t do the three counters above. Or a new killer. For all those flashlight save videos it probably takes the survivor content creators 15 tries to find someone to fall for it

Honestly I take flashlights as a blessing; either I can equip lightborn and screw them over, take Franklin's and watch them die trying to re-obtain their item, or I can just rest assured without either perk knowing they will waste a vast amount of time trying to blind me instead of pushing their objective forward.

seems like its mostly a luck+intuition thing. If you were on your way to a gen thats 30 seconds away, and you think the surv will go down in the same amount of time, it can be worth it to arrive in the nick of time to deflate the killers pressure. Those kinds of survivors are the really scary ones because they don't waste time in bushes. they just have giant, massive foreheads because of their big brains.

Yeah flashlight saves are hard to get, that's why pulling one off feels so skillful and rewarding.

Yes if you're not in SWF.
If you are you can easily afford one guy just enhancing chase for your friends constantly, making it impossible for killer to build up any pressure.
Ofc you need to be really good at it and your teammates need to play around it knowing your intention otherwise you'll be wasting your time but it is extremely strong when performed correctly by a competent team.

Some people just want to have fun and thats probably how they have fun

They are VERY strong, but I agree that most flashlight clowns are boosted and could be a more efficient teammate. Denying a hook state when you have to hammer through 2 of them before you get a kill... If you are tunneling, is extremely powerful. If you aren't tunneling, all the health states you need to go through make it downright impossible unless the survivors are AWFUL. Luckily most of them are.

Before the Resident Evil DLC I would only bring Lightborne if I saw a survivor had a flashlight. Now I usually bring it every time. Not only does it make the flashlights, Blast Mine and Flashbang pretty much useless it also it makes it easier to track down the survivors who use any of those for short time.

You still get stunned by blastmine, though. And flashbangs are pretty sus. I mean, I guess I am glad I have Lightborn when they use them, but I do not think it is worth running Lightborn for them specifically. Usually flashlight abusers love those perks, though, so Lightborn gets its value.

Even with the the stun from Blast Mine the survivor is still highlighted for a brief time. If I survivor uses either of the other two against a killer with Lightborne it works in the killers favor.

I don't think anyone really thinks they are effective. It's just fun to do it.

Flashlight players are just funny (when I'm playing killer). They'll run behind me and follow the chase, clearly not knowing that I can hear them running behind me. I'll down the survivor I'm chasing and then just chase the survivor who blatantly followed for the flashlight.
Not only did they waste time when they could have been doing the gen, not only will they not get the flashlight save, but it results in an injure or even a down.

Flashlights are usually a burden to a team of survivors

It is such a bad feeling when I sit on a gen and see that two survivors with flashlight follow the killer who is chasing the third survivor... And then two of them go down, because one flashlight guy was injured.

Exactly. I hate teammates who are “ambulance chasers.” They follow me and the killer all over the map, only to fail at trying to get a flashlight save. Bonus points when their stupid ass gets downed from full health.
You could have been doing a gen, you f’n Ayrun wannabe.

You can still blind a killer while they're looking at a wall

Flashies should mostly be used for techs and out of convienence. You shouldn't follow the chase, but you should run over and try and intervene if the other survivor gets downed relatively close to you. Otherwise, using flashlights for blind techs and such are their primary use, i always encourage survivors to avoid chasing the killer with their flashies. Its much better to simply run over and get an unexpected save when a surv is downed close to you, the killers going to anticipate a save if you keep gluing yourself to them and clicking your flashy.
