Random idea to reward perk diversity and off meta play
Since the new hot thing seems to be blaming MMR for bringing the worst in people ( Which is true to some extent but really isn't new, it happened regardless of MMR).
I just tought, why not create a system that rewards players for using off meta perks/builds/killers?
Using the data the devs have about perk usage and killer pick rate, why not use that data in a meaningful way and reward players for being creative and original ?
It could be as simple as a BP gain boost for that game/XP boost/shard rewards.
It could help alot when leveling new characters as well as lessening how grindy this game is overall BP wise.
Make it a thing kinda like how the shrine works, a weekly rotation or something similar.
I know it won't "fix" the meta, but you could at least be rewarded for running different creative builds while lessening how frustrating taking L's to Meta builds is.
Any toughts on that ?

You know what would be fun actually? I see people wanting more gameplay variations like 2 killers vs 8 survivors or something like that. Why not have a game mode that gives everyone, killers and survivors, random perks, items, and add-ons? So kind of like an ARAM style game where everything is randomized except maybe the character you pick? Or hell randomize the characters too. Of course this would affect killer side more than survivors, but still the concept of an all random game mode could be fun.

A secondary gamemode like that would be fun, it also makes me think of another idea, why not create a "Perk roulette" system in the loadout screen that rewards you with BP/XP or whatever for playing with thoses perks.
It could even work with the other system i proposed to give even bigger boosts if the perks/build/killer are rarely used.

Oh yeah that would be cool! Actually some MMOs have a cool enough system that may work (well in concept anyway) for this game. So in some MMOs you can queue up for dungeons and such right? Well sometimes a pop up comes up before you queue saying that if you play either a healer or a tank, rather than just DPS then you'll be granted some extra rewards. It's usually just more gold or little extra buff items for your character. But yeah why not do something like that too, maybe have it be part of the ritual challenges? "Use <perk> and receive more Iridescent Shards/Blood Points"?

Yeah that's basically what this thing is based on lol

What could be cool would be like a shrine system but the perks you’re using grants you a bp boost

Yeah similar idea to one of the things i proposed as well, it would be very cool as well.

The problem is this won't do anything. The people like me who have thousands of hours and are at the top of the MMR curve already have everything unlocked. More BP isn't going to do anything when you already have every perk on every character.

I said more BP as an exemple, it could also be XP boost/ free shards / Rift bonus . ( which i stated in the OP minus the rift part)
Maybe even all three at once , why not ?
I know it won't fix the issue, that's not really the point, but it probably would incite people to be more creative and make them feel less bad about taking L's to the face because they would get rewarded for playing differently.

It doesn't help, because people still want to use meta stuff. The way to fix these is to stop making bad perks. Both sides have maybe 10-15 good perks to choose from. The rest are useless trash.

I disagree entirely, it's not even that some perks are bad, they're just either too specialised or not fitting the current meta, it's not about being bad or rather, not to this extent.
I agree on one thing thing, people want to be meta and that's the entire issue in a nutshell, which is what my idea try to lessen to some extent by using the good old " Carrot on a stick' approach because DBD players are stubborn like the devs themselves.
It's not a 100% guarantee it will work, which is impossible to reach anyway, but i think it would be a good step forward.

Putting in MMR took them years. Do you think implementing this kind of system is anywhere near realistic? :)
There is no motivation to run sweaty perks other than winning and later on going against more sweaty opponents yourself. It's not game issue, there is no reward for being high in the ranks (you can rank up grades while loosing mmr, so don't try to bs about it). People want to sweat for the sake of it and you will not change it. Sad, but true.
