Playing Killer feels...stale lately (UPDATED)

I've been playing a few killer matches and my heart feels broken

Due to some of the big nerfs some killers are getting in the next patch, i decided to just stop putting any effort into killer, i'd just get what i get. If i get too into it, i get upset if survivors are being toxic. I didn't want to do that anymore, so here we are.

In each game, i got nothing but disrespect. Survivors clicking lights, ganging up on me, t-bagging when i mess up and making me feel more worthless than i already am. I have Asperger's, so its not a good feeling

i don't go in expecting any chance of getting even one kill before all the gens are done because the chances of me making any good progress as killer is a long shot. I only got one kill in a match and one of the survivors said the killer i used was op...from my perspective, obviously not

Alot of people will say something that would probably make me feel worse, like 'get good' or something. But i don't want to get good, i want to have fun as killer.

But the amount of pressure killer takes to play makes it hard. The gens go too fast and survivors have too much of a advantage. Killer just doesn't excite me like it used to, it feels more like work or a race these days.

I don't have any idea on how any of this can change, we still haven't heard anything about the Early Game Collapse thing yet. Some might disagree, but killers just don't feel at all strong anymore.

All i know is this, the over pressure killer gameplay has isn't healthy for the game. People might start quitting or changing over to survivor, then we'll have next to no killer players left.

I don't want that to happen, i just want us to be able to enjoy killer without feeling stressed

(UPDATE)

I just got Adept Blight, so killer isn't completely hopeless, but i feel it could be better.

FYI, I'm not calling out the Devs or something, i still love the game and support the Devs, but i'm just giving them some feedback

If this honestly has a chance of affecting your mental health, then the best advice I can give you is to put the controller down for a while. Some people might make fun or do the usual petty forum thing of 'crybaby killer git gud' but I won't do that, because I understand the stress of playing killer and how yeah, even though it shouldn't, a game and the way people play it can impact self esteem.

There are conflicting reports since the new match making system, I've been playing survivor fairly decently but still getting stomped and mostly end up with team mates I'm sure have lemming DNA, however, my experience doesn't invalidate yours. Something is going to break in regards to the match making system because people clearly aren't happy on either side, so perhaps don't give up on playing killer, simply take a break. You aren't being defeated, you're simply setting it aside until it makes sense again.

Alternatively, try getting together a kyf team. No it isn't competitive, but the stress just isn't there when you can play with a bunch of friends where everything is light hearted and nobody is BMing you. It's actually good practice for alternative builds you might have wanted to try but worried you'd get stomped before you got any practice in. People lose perspective when playing competitively, most forget that it's supposed to be fun, the win just becomes too detrimental and when you're getting regularly stomped.....yeah it sucks and makes the whole experience bitter and you find out you lost the 'fun' about three games in.

Whatever you decide, take care of yourself first, because at the end of the day it IS just a game and if it makes you feel crappy...it's not worth the trouble.

Good luck in the fog my friend.

The killers have been the strongest it has ever been though?

I really don't get people having mental breakdown whenever a patch drops like they're getting untreated unfairly and always getting the short end of the stick. As someone who played this game for years, can you imagine the game's state like two years ago and more? It was horrible for killers just overall bad.

Yes, I get the game has still balancing issues most notably with generator time but I would be flat out lying if I said playing killer is still as garbage as ever. Key robberies are gone it was long overdue but it's here.

  • Hey, a lot of people feel what you feel. However, I do recommend that you set some simple goals of what you want to do in a game. I also recommend turning of names and if you are losing heavily or get upset to just find a gate and wait for the game to be over, then take a small break and calm down.

Some of my Goals below |

    Hook 1 survivor

    Down two survivors

    Finish 1 gen

Get 1 to 4 bbq stacks

    get 4 hooks

finish a chase in under sixty seconds

    Rancor mori my obsession

    I sympathize.

Unfortunately, the survivor meta of basically second chance perks+high speed gen slamming means that there is only one 'right' way to play killer, and only a handful of killers that can really pressure a decent group of survivors.

As much as I enjoy playing Doc, Piggy or Demo, it feels like - if I'm looking to win games - I'm doing it wrong if I play them.

    Thanks for the advice

But that reminds me, match making. I thought it was fixed so we'd play with people our own speed, but i was in a match with all red ranks even though my killer rank is still in the grey.

6 minute games are just stale af. You could build up pressure on 2 different survivors and 2 gens still pop.

  • Me too. But then again i've played for nearly 700 hours in 5 months so it's wrong for me to expect the game to still be as much fun now. I guess all i can say is expecting a 4k every game is not a good idea. Because the devs want an average of 2 escapes and 2 kills every match... so basically they want killer to be hard. Best to just try have fun the killers you play and care less about the survivors.

You're expected to play as a bot, of course it's going to be stale.

Survivor skill = they are immune

Killer skill = you still lose against a survivor with equal skill

The game itself is FRUSTRATING, and as how Mathieu, it should be.

I actually liked that part of the game, because it brings the very best of the "HORROR" genre of the game, unlike the other games which were toned down to cater to almost age of players, remember that this game should be horror.

I suggest dont put too much pressure on yourself for a game. in the end, its just a game. there maybe a lot of streamers who were good at it, but they are PROFESSIONAL players, they get paid to play several hours.

i wouldnt say have fun, but dont get too serious. hahah i know its addicting. thats the game itself.

if its affecting your mental health, avoid playing dbd for a meantime.
