Match making bans when your internet connection is at fault
So I experienced my first match making ban today. I just loaded into a match and began setting traps when suddenly my game froze up and I disconnected. No fault of mine. Bad internet moment or maybe even a game server hiccup. I don't know. Either way I ended up with like a 3 minute ban in match making.
Does this hurt my gaming or dbd account in any way? I hope not as that would be unfair in this situation. I mean I do understand why matchmaking ban exists, but can the server not tell the difference between intentional and inadvertent disconnects?

No it can not tell the difference, the connection is just interrupted from server's pov. It has no access to data that would clarify the reason for that.
Also other players are equally hurt by your forced dc's and connection breakdowns, so it shouldn't be treated differently anyways.

Its very easy to fake unintentional disconnects. For example, there is no way for Dead by daylight to tell the difference between you resetting your router and your ISP having a hiccup. Also, even if a PC knows that you physically unplugged an Etheret cable, can a PS5 or Nintendo Switch do the same? For fairness, it would have to be the same on all formats.
Personally I wouldnt worry too much, ban waves used to be quite common in times when people used to constantly DC. Now that there is an inbuilt timeout system, there isn't as much need for the ban waves.

Yeah, I think you are completely fine. It happens, and I don't think there's a record for it that will impact you in any way besides that 5 minute cool down and the 2 point de-pip.

You get a ban if you are targeted by a ddos or hack, take the ban and move on; you can't expect the world from a flawed system created for quitters.

Ok thanks for clarifying the accidental DC issue. I was just worried it might effect my player account somehow. But apparent.y it's not a big deal unless it happens all the time.
