We need to talk about the hackers problem...
Today I encountered my first hacker and he almost ruined my graphics card while teabagging me, he head oned me while not being in a locker, when i downed him he insta healed and other things. Basically they had power over the entire game + he had all the perks at the same time. When I wanted to report him the entire in-game report page was blocked with a wall of "n-words are f-words". I asked him why he does this thing. They replied with: "because devs don't ban hackers", and then he changed my first message with a wall of n-words.
I'm really scared because I did some research and I found a site where you can buy hacks for 20 dollars that have the exact pack that my hacker had. They can basically change every single aspect of the game: can turn your perks off, can get everyone's IP, can froze/brick someone's device with flashlights.
I don't hate devs. I don't know if they want the best out of this community but I spent 2k+ hours in this game and I love it. I don't want my PC bricked by someone that is trolling and doesn't have repercussions...

Yeah there's some really disturbing message that pops up when you try and report them, it left me feeling shaken when I first encountered it.

I've already had two routers fried by people on this game, so, yeah. I'm on board with getting rid of hackers.
Not sure why anyone wouldn't be.
18 -
The COD Warzone community manager talks about this stuff. They have days with 100.000 ACCOUNTS BANNED FOR HACKING, while we don't get anything. I feel something happened this summer cuz I've seen too many times videos with "Playing against a hacker"
14 -
I used to see like 1 or 2 hackers a year and usually they'd just goof around and not doing anything really malicious (besides flying around making it impossible to catch them) but lately I see a hacker like 1 of 10 games or more, and they're doing game ruining stuff, holding the match hostage, turning into a killer, infinite map-wide flashlight beams, forcing people to crash/DC and getting them banned for DCing. Usually if I see one I just DC and eat the ban because that's quicker than dealing with the super long game, potentially them getting me banned for something worse than a DC
I think I'm gonna take a break for a while

I do feel maybe it's time BHVR try and expand the team a little bit, with a dedicated team for dealing with reports and hacking issues, providing they dont already. Or even just updating their anti-cheat. But I imagine it's not all that simple.
6 -
YEAH! I feel like this type of discussion doesn't or barely exist in this community. Youtubers or Streamers barely talk about this and they encounter this they have fun, but they don't get the whole picture because that is low hanging content they can milk. I hate the fact that we got a survey from the devs, but there was nothing about this HUGE problem.
3 -
The Easy Anti-Cheat is good, but the game has some flaws that can be exploited soo easily by hackers. And I agree with your idea. I think they have 2-3 people that work with the support tickets.

Well, they mentioned an auto-ban system a while back...
3 -
Well, they talked about this system 6-8 months ago and we didn't get any update, and in that timeframe we got x10 more hackers... I don't know how useful is gonna be, since they worked soooo hard on the new MMR system and it's not that well implemented, but if it helps with the hackers problem, I'm down.
3 -
an auto-ban system wouldnt be the worst of ideas. I'm sure it couldnt be too difficult to have in game checks where if it detects something that shouldn't be physically possible like a perk being used multiple times, or survivors changing health states too fast etc. Especially if they can have these checks happen server side it should HEAVILY limit the cheaters. A similar system is used in War Thunder, they have server side game checks where if it detects an action happening that shouldn't be possible due to ingame values, then the game wont let it happen. So if a tank with a 5 second reload fired every 1 second, the server would catch that and just not let the shot be registered.

Here.

I think that the game base code is too weak to run a system like this.

Imagine the constant reports about camping and tunnelling
3 -
I didn't know they could actually damage your hardware. I guess that's just another thing to add to the pile.
The type of hacker that got ingrained into my memory, and the reason i've pretty much lost most of my interest in playing this game was one that I encountered during the previous SBMM test.
The game went by as usual. Gens went fast, I tried my best. I killed one survivor. 3 left on the last gen that was less than 50%. I slugged, one and was chasing the other, so only 1 survivor was on that gen.
The second just before I downed the survivor I was chasing, tinkerer activated, meaning the gen got to 70%, and then the gen instantly popped.
I managed to get a 3k and that hacker left.
Thing is, I had to rewatch the match to realize what happened and I came to understand that if i had not been using Tinkerer, I would have had no idea that a cheater was in the match. I would have thought that the game just went fast, as usual.
There is no way of knowing if your games go by fast because of hackers, because the game is imbalanced or because you were genuinely outplayed. If there are subtle hackers in your lobby and you don't catch them, you'll be none the wiser.

Hackers can change their ID in seconds or can link their name with another Steam Profile.
1 -
I see
5 -
I know. I'm just pointing out what they said on their 5th anniversary stream.
1 -
I experienced a hacker right after the Silent Hill chapter released, I had a Nea flying through the walls and repeatedly body-blocking so the other survivors couldn't get hooked.
I did report them in-game but I don't know if they got banned, chances are they didn't because of the amount of hackers there are today.
1 -
Yeah, I closed my Steam Profile Comments because I got salty survivors that make dumb decisions and die.
1 -
Did the same, I've seen enough of the community to know how vile some people can be, don't need that negativity on my profile 🤧
1 -
I reported hackers in like 3 different matches in the last SBMM test. In fact out of 23 ish matches, 7 of them had hackers that I know of.
Hackers are a problem, the ones that are explicit are a big nuisance and very annoying. Subtle hackers are, in my opinion, the worst thing for the health of this game.
5 -
The devs promised that they will work harder in their 4th anniversary stream on big events and we barely get anything but skins. I don't believe their promises.
1 -
You and me both.
They promised 60 FPS for Console's over two years ago.
Not sure where that ended up.
1 -
I think I had some encounters with subtle hackers before but I am not sure. 🤧
1 -
I have a possible reason but I'll get banned if I share it here
1 -
Yesterday I changed my main monitor refresh rate and every game was running soooo smooth, but DBD was frame capped at 60 FPS. It's the first time when I actually had to change something in the game files to make sure that my game is running as it should. And the graphics settings in game are soo weak. We need an update on that side.

I knew from the start that my hacker was cheating because of their outfit. But most hackers use default Dwight.

I have pretty much stopped playing because of all the blatant cheaters. The fun of sitting in a queue for 5 to 10 minutes only to face a cheater.
The last game I played even had the cheater drop his flashlight which another survivor picked up and used it on me for another 60 second long blind, and this survivor then got mad that I killed them and started insulting me in post game chat, like he was the victim in that game.
I want to say that I hope they take action against it, but everyone knows they are just gonna ignore the problem.
Even taking the step to disable family sharing of the game would reduce the problem by a lot, since then the cheaters would actually have to risk losing the game completely and not just create infinite amounts of new steam accounts. This is exactly what the Fall Guys devs did, so I know it can be done.

I don't encounter any hackers apart from the ones that seem to lag switch as I go to hit them. Kinda noticeable when its the 3rd or 4th time they avoid a hit right as you pull the trigger. I saw someone speed crawling once.

"I want to say that I hope they take action against it, but everyone knows they are just gonna ignore the problem." :c that is true.

=))

Just had the max head on hack hit me 40 seconds of pure stun bliss with a flashlight blind lasting 30 seconds got the video evidence and the person's steam profile finder but I cannot find an adequate place to submit the evidence since there site takes to long to upload it as an attachment.
@MandyTalk can we get a refresher on how to report hackers its kind of a confusing process. Apologies for the inconvenience
2 -
Make sure you're recording every game you're playing in case you encounter a cheater, use some editing program to extract the part showing the incident. Upload somewhere, I personally use youtube.
When you're done editing/uploading, alternatively while waiting for it to complete, go to https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us select Submit a request. In the drop down menu choose Additional player report information and enter relevant information, link to your video and type a description of the event.
Repeat this for every cheater you encounter for awhile and then realize that you're just wasting your time since a cheater can just create a new steam account and family share the game faster than you can submit your report.
Edit: Probably wrong about ease of family sharing to protect the main account.

I'm confused. So, how did he nearly destroy your GPU? I don't even think this is technically possible
0 -
How can someone destroy hardware of others? I can't imagine that this is possible. But if that's really the case I might not come back to DBD. Already had several months break and still don't really miss it

Oh they will expand the team for sure. But into the cosmetic category. Because we don't have enough micro transactions yet
0 -
From what I know it doesn't matter what the game code is. The server handles it separately with set rules.
0 -
Your steam64id stays always the same. You can't change it. What you are talking about is the steam URL where you can put custom name in it. But that's seperate. Once you have the real steamID (with all the numbers) you get always redirected to that account no matter what custom URL you use

Lmao the reverse dodging! Back then it used to be killer dodging survivors with to many hours. Now we dodge survivors with not enough hours because of hackers. What a turn haha
3 -
Vakentin isn't refering to just changing your name/ID, but actually making it so that when someone tries to go to your profile they get directed to someone elses.
3 -
This is not how family sharing works.
If you family share DbD to let's say 100 accounts and JUST ONE gets banned then ALL other 99 accounts get banned along with it at the same time
0 -
Oh now I understand what he means. Wow, even that is possible? Holy, DbD is absolutely F'ed.

I have a literal vid on my channel when i encountered my first Hacker and it has only gotten worse from then on out
had a game when i played Nemesis and got 3 Hackers in 1 game
1 -
Sadly they can direct you to innocent peoples steam profiles :(
1 -
Difference between VAC and EAC. DBD is not covered by VAC as far as I know.
If I am wrong it's even worse. That means they completely ignore the cheaters that stream the game.
1 -
I dont think it matters what anti cheat software they use. As far as I know it applies to every game
0 -
To be fair some other games have similar problems.
Gta for example even on consoles people use godmode in almost every lobby. Not a problem for me tho since I am not pvping there.
1 -
You might be right, I have been doing some reading on both EAC and Game Developer Bans, though neither of them mention anything about family share, So I don't know if they use the game ban api provided by steam to get the steamID of the main account.
I should probably have done more research but the frustration of sitting in queue for 5 to 10 minutes only to encounter a cheater at least once a day has finally worn down my patience with anything being done. Their complete silence on the topic makes it seem like they don't care, considering the surge of cheaters started happening around the 5.3 PTB it has been going on for quite awhile now.
1 -
Are they able to just write anything in that pop up message?
I've heard/seen hackers able to type in any other player's name in end game chat/use all perks/freeze game/hold game hostage etc but never being able to block someone from reporting.
