Do they check reports?

I decided to download this game for halloween and, to be perfectly honest, I have no idea what I'm doing.

After a few matches I ended up matching with a girl and her boyfriend and apparently I didn't do something right because she started messaging me - calling me a "tr4nny" (my pronouns are in my profile). You'd think that it would be pretty cut and dry, but I ended up matching up with the two of them again a few games later and... surprise! More transphobic abuse. Funnily enough, she works for an organization (that shall remain nameless) that streams as a "non-profit organization and movement to empower young women through grants and advice on what it takes to reach our career goals and dreams!".

I'm Less than an hour into the game and I'm hit with transphobic abuse.

I'm seriously thinking of just getting a refund at this point; if all you need to do to bypass a slur filter is throw in a number, and the team is doesn't even bother investigating the litany of other abuse issue, they're basically saying they don't care about play safety.

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback everyone - I'm actively looking into a refund for it. It's a shame, I'm a huge horror fan I thought I'd like this game.

You have to make a more detailed report alongside your in-game report on the DbD support site. Including screenshots of the abuse helps tremendously as well.

They don't care, and no they don't check reports. There will be people who lie and cowtow to the party line, but reports do zilch in this game.

That said, there's a large segment of the playerbase that's LGBT, including streamers. I'd suggest finding some people who you can play with for your forays into the fog, rather than going it alone - and I will say that it's a bad call to put money into this company.

They don't really discuss reports with the players who make them and we don't really get a lot of feedback from them regarding the report system in general, but I do know they do actively check it. I'm sorry you had to be the target of transphobia.

The amount of hackers I reported and still haven't gotten banned, why would they care about some kids being butthurt over a match and verbally abusing you.

the game is free weekend you don't need to refund it lol. this game is probably the most toxic game out there, remove the pronouns from your steam profile that's just asking to be bullied and how are they messaging you? you have to add them first.

if that's gonna get you all down and sad over one match to the point where they make you actually uninstall the game, i suggest sticking to single player games. don't let them get to you stop being so mentally weak.

Nah, a long time ago they used to, I used to be able to report cheaters with video evidence and they'd respond saying appropriate action was taken but generally not being specific, but the cheats were clear as day so ban is the only thing they could have done. I've reported like 4 cheaters in the past couple months with video evidence with no response from the devs so I just stopped reporting them since devs don't care anymore.

I have a five-month-old bug report with 18 upvotes that hasn’t been responded to or marked acknowledged to this day. Even tagged a forum mod yesterday asking for help.

You tell me if they check things.
