BHVR you best extend the Halloween event.
I've lost count on how many times that I've encountered the infinite loading screen bug. I have barely 2hrs each night to play games, and the last thing I want is knowing my time is being wasted on something so broken. FFS this game has been out for 5 years! How does it still run this poorly?

I mean, to be fair, the event doesn't really do anything.
Pumpkin kicking? A novelty with no real purpose.
The event hooks, generators, offerings, and add-ons? Probably cost you more BP than give you in the long run.
The skins from the event tome? Sure, there's a point there.
---
I agree they should extend it, but even if they don't at least there's no real loss.

"A novelty with no real purpose"
Says this about a video game.
You are a novelty with no real purpose if you really believe this about pumpkin smashing.

Why so harsh? DBD has garnered a lot of criticism, and for good reason. The game runs poorly, and despite it all they still expect you to hand over your hard earned money. I've always said to each their own, but if you purposely ignore a company's faults, then you have no one to blame but yourself.

Believe it or not, video games are actually a method of mental stimulation. They help players hone reasoning, rationalization skills, problem solving, and more.
They're also often considered a form of therapy or escape to those who require mental respite.
Unfortunately, many people see video games as a waste of time because they aren't traditionally productive, but I'd say people's beliefs on that are fairly short-sighted personally.

That said, my concept of pumpkin kicking being a novelty stems more from it being a recycled asset (viktor/gnome kicking), paired with having no real reward or incentive attached to it.
You can argue it provides feel-good feelings, in which case I'll agree with you without argument. However I don't get the same pleasure out of it nor any other type of stimulation. The lack of reward or any benefit associated with pumpkin kicking for me means that, in my perspective, yes, it is simply a novelty with no purpose.

The haste buffs can actually make up for the time spent kicking in a chase - even to the point of being a risk-reward DH coin flip

The skins in particular.

It's the digital equivalent of Crack.
Probably not good for you, and leads to wild mood swings - but dammit is it addictive when it's good.
There is the reason that it's pretty much the only APVP game that has survived. Remember Evolve? Nobody else does.

Bold claim.
Unless they released the stats on it (% chance to get haste, amount of the haste buff, duration of the haste buff, kick animation) I don't think it's worth debating that though. You'd also need to consider how much time you shave off running towards the pumpkin relative to taking a more efficient route, something that would vary case-to-case.
Overall, too much effort for me to calculate unless the stats above are somewhere that I didn't see.

Not gonna happen. BHVR doesn't give a #########.

I am speaking of maybes and could-bes, and from experience :P
It's extended about eight loops for me, so far, and shut down one. According to an article, haste for killer is 5%, haste for survivor seems to be a higher percent at 10 seconds - 40% Treats, 40% 'dull pumpkin', 20% Tricks.

Oh, found it using those numbers on Dead by Daylight Leaks.
It doesn't directly say the amount of the haste buff for survivors, but if I assume 5% as well, then that's +0.2m/s for 10 seconds, or a 2 meter advantage over 10 seconds if you get the haste buff.
If we assume the kick animation is as long as kicking Viktor (0.35 seconds), then it will cost you 1.4 meters (4m/s * 0.35s) to kick it than if you kept running.
So the difference in distance between getting the buff and ignoring the buff to keep running is 0.6 meters.
---
Note: That ignores any time spent running towards or away from the pumpkin.
Kicking the pumpkin is therefore only beneficial if you spend, at most, 0.15 seconds (0.6m / 4m/s) trying to get the buff.
It also only works 40% of the time.
---
In the worst case scenario though, if you get the debuff (assuming -5% speed)...
You lose 1.4 meters kicking the pumpkin, and another 2 meters from the hindered status effect for a total of 3.4 meters (roughly 1 second of running) from kicking it.
---
So if you're literally right on top of a pumpkin or pass it exactly as you're running and get really lucky, it might do something minor for you.
The vast majority of the time though it won't be worth it.
Might change a bit if you a hug a wall tightly and abuse the survivors wide hitbox while looping though, but I'm too lazy to go into that.
Still, neat to think about! Thanks for that.

OP, you know the event sucks right?

haste and hinder effects that take so long you can't even get them during a chase that deplete so quickly it isn't worth it.
fantastic!
Don't really feel the extra effort when i get a cool skin that I can't see while using it as someone people like to quit against penalty be damned.
That post should have said we're cutting events to focus on cosmetics instead of interesting #########. We'll throw you a gnawed up bone. You're special just like the short bus kids.
so many fun lies

-A week's extension on the event (the infinite loading has spoiled it).
-A courtesy drop of a huge amount of blood points (as many of us lost out on blood point collection due to the aforementioned infinite loading and mid-match crashes).
-A drop of a reasonable amount of shards (a nice gesture and it's Halloween).
-A couple of other blood point drops via codes (why not?).
I think that's reasonable.

Not to sound like an entitled female dog, but without bloodpoints offerings or a bloodhunt. I actually do not care...
I will miss the pumpkins. But that is about it. The game feels the same as always without much special going on.

this even is pathetic anyways
