Boon Nerf Idea

Boon perks are strong and absolutely provide a game-changing power for the survivors akin to how Hex perks can really shift the balance of the game as well. I think they're a great addition and contribute a lot to the dynamic of the game, but I feel their current state is really powerful for one main reason; They can just keep coming back, over and over again. Fully-powered Boon perks can just be thrown back on the same totem you snuffed with no cooldown.

I think a simple cooldown to blessing would be a great and simple way to balance them out. Each Boon perk adds so many seconds to your Blessing cooldown, making it so the stronger your totem would be, the longer it takes before you can move it or place it again once it's snuffed out. If we wanna get a little more complex and add a possible tactic to this, perhaps the cooldown is shortened while your totem is still lit so you have an incentive to move it before the killer stomps it out?

Just an idea to balance out Boon perks which, while really good for the game, really need something to pull them back. Their current state, especially with future Boon perks to come, are fully capable of getting out of hand should they continue to be left unchecked.

    Or just have totems destroyed when snuffed out.

    Remove the killer notification when a totem is blessed so you get a chance to use it before it's snuffed.

    Done.

    Excellent suggestions! I just hope any change will be implemented (Spoiler: no change will be implemented for at least 10 months. Think back to Original Decisive Strike and how long it took to change it).

    Great feedback, really helped me reflect on the suggested changes and what further actions could be taken to make Boons a little more in-line with the game's balancing. Maybe your next suggestion could be along the lines of "boons should be permanent and have a 64 meter radius."


    Anyway, to everyone else, I know the idea of "Boons get destroyed" is also tossed around but I feel like that would counter No One Escapes Death or Plaything, which require standing dull totems. As well as that, the cooldown timer makes using the boons feel a lot more like a tactical decision, they're already a time investment as it is that could go towards pushing a piston on a generator, but the imminent cooldown should you place it haphazardly and the killer snuff it out instantly as opposed to away from the killer, I think it makes them a lot better of a tool rather than a gimmick.

    (Also, anyone saying "nobody would run anything but Circle" clearly has 0 idea just how strong Shadow Step can be at escaping dangerous situations lol, self-caring isn't always the best choice)
