Please bring back ranks
I literally only have like 200 hours in this game yet I 80% of my games I play ridiculously good survivors, WHILE I'm just trying to learn nurse too. And I'm not saying this cause they're grade one, its cause every time I check their steam profile, they have literally 4000+ hours. I don't care what way you look at it, if you have even 1500+ hours in this game, you're most likely pretty good. It's actually laughably bad how I just get steamrolled every match cause the survivors I play against are optimal as #########. I stopped playing as much cause of MMR. What are of all your thoughts on MMR?

MMR has been fair on both roles. I've gotten better teammates as survivor and better opppnents as killer.
You are still new and are learning Nurse so I'm not surprised. Number of hours could mean overall knowledge, but isn't indicative of skill tbh.

MMR seems to work ok for me personally. A bit better than when it used ranks, at least.

Hell no.
I'm at slightly more hours played than yourself, and it's a million times better than ranks were, even factoring the occastional 'wut' matchup I get.
A few thoughts as to your specific situation:
- MMR indeed has quirks and problems. Occasionally I'll get a very 'off' matchup against crazily good survivors or extremely new survivors. I suspect it has to do with queue dodging.
- I do wish it was more nuanced on the survivor end of things.
- If I get a few 3-4 outs in a row, I'll usually start playing very difficult games. I think what's happening is that the MMR thinks I'm not where I belong and boosts me up to see. I honestly have no idea.
- It feels better than it was even a week ago. Either my 'confidence' rating has improved, or the matchmaking itself has been tweaked.
In short, keep at it. Maybe ease up a bit. You'll stabilize.

I got weird matchups under Ranks all the time. We've all seen the "rainbow rank" games. And that is not even counting the smurf squads or boosted survivors.

I've railed against new matchmaking but VERY recently it seems improved. Might be in my head.

I'd rather see rank back. It actually rewarded you for participating in all aspects of the game, and being a contributing teammate. Boiling everything down to "did you escape or die" is a gross oversimplification of the game that reflects basically nothing about skill.

It didn't reward you AT ALL. There was nothing you got for being Rank 1 over Rank 20. Blood point awards came with the new MMR system.

TRUE it was more accurate to everyone's MMR than this crap they have now. Which is unbelievably sad.

That still has nothing to do with MMR, they could so easily have added that at ANY TIME, it's completely separate to the MMR system.
1 -
Yes. Doesn't change what I said. The old system was nothing more than epeen points. It rewarded nothing.

Except we're discussing a rank system, not the completely irrelevant bloodpoint reward that was added that would work with either system.
When I used the term "reward" it was painfully apparent I was referring to progression in rank.

Just know that it's entirely possible you're being given a team of good survivors because their MMR may be too high to find them a game. Which then it gives up and matches them with the first available killer... it's not because the system wants to work against you, but rather its giving everyone a decent chance to play

How is that a reward and why does it matter?

Personally I want a mixture of the old rank system and the current MMR. Currently I get 4-5 maybe more games of I get steamrolled by Gen Rushers, Trolls, Clicky Click Bergades, Pre Dropers, or Pallet Leapers. Then I'll get 4k games against survivors that are way under my skill then it's back to the previous groupings. If I'm lucky I'll get those games where it seems like MMR is actually working but that's only 1 game.
Now if the Maps were actually balanced to both survivor and killer then it would be better. It seems everyday I find new infinities that the survivors seem to use and abuse.
I play Hag, Survivors troll and trigger all my traps over and over again,
I play Demo, survivors somehow can pallet slam me while I'm in the middle of a shred with pinpoint accuracy.
I play anyone else and Predrops ruin any chase before it starts.
If you don't play those certain Killers that we all know that actually have map pressure and cant keep it then the survivors will steamroll you.
The Devs should never of changed what went towards ranks, because that actually said who had skills and who didnt.

I think the only MMR change I wish they’d do is stop showing opponent’s Grades since they’re not used for matchmaking and give misleading impressions to people who think they are. There is literally no reason to care about an opponent’s Grade, so why show it? All it does is cause confused posts complaining about the grades of their opponents being too high or low.
I’d love to replace the opponent’s grades with an MMR bracket indicator saying what percentile everybody is in, within say 5-10%. But assuming the devs want to keep that hidden at least stop showing these Grades for opponents. You can see your own grade obviously, just hide the others.

If you're still learning, take the loss. You can't expect to win if you're not experienced yey, and youll lower your MMR until you're comfortable.
