I think DBD game design is outdated and needs to be redesigned.

Reading the forums there is a post about camping/tunnelling generator speeds and other forms of unfun gameplay that appear almost every day. Every post goes in the same circle, survivors say camping/ tunnelling needs to stop, and killers say, we don't have a choice. Both sides are right, however nothing can really be done about it. If killers were severely punished for this sort of playstyle they would ultimately be heavily limited in what they can an and can't do especially when situations do occur and such tactics are justified. If they say doubled gen timers to give killers more time in a match, killers would start camping more often as time would be in their favour. The gameplay of DBD is in too strict of a position that does not allow for the change it needs.

I think DBD needs a complete redesign, new objectives for survivors and killers but something that still keeps the main enjoyment of the match (the chase). I am just interested in seeing if people have ideas of new gameplay (so no generators or no hooks) that may fix some of the big issues.

This sounds goofy but I think the hook mechanic is what actually breaks this game. Without survivors on a stationary hook there's nothing to camp, there's no way to predictably tunnel, and with certainty the remaining survivors are definitely somewhere else on the map unless they were just attempting a flashlight save. Punishing the killer for using the hook for map control is really just punishing them for doing what is logical because it works too well. Without hooks I would have nothing else to do but to pursue other survivors each time I won a chase.
