Killers don't camp because camping is fun. They camp because against strong survivor teams, it's either that or get teabagged all the way to the exit and told to uninstall in postgame. Plus, BHVR is adding something to discourage facecamping soon anyway.
Tunneling is basically another term for 'I lost'. I've been accused of 'tunneling' for 'chasing me for too long'. It's a nonsense word that doesn't mean anything.
Getting 1 survivor out before 3 gens are done is a primary goal if you play killer.

I think a fair way to play is without cheating, without ######### like half an hour hiding in lockers rather than doing a 3-gen, and without doing BM stuff for the entire point of being a dick like exit gate teabagging, flashlight macros, repeatedly hitting people on hook, etc. Things that either: A) are obviously unfair because they're outside of what is supposed to be doable in the game, or B) don't actually serve a purpose within the purview of the game (arguments about psychological warfare making no sense because this always happens after it would serve a purpose).
What you're not explaining is what your idea of fairness is or what it encompasses, and why tunnelling is supposedly unfair.

I don't think killers even need to be buffed. In fact Huntress and Nurse probably need nerfs... but that being said, gen rushing will be unaffected by most changes to killers. That's because you can only chase 1 player at a time, and you have 4 players to choose from. Gen rushing should be looked at first and foremost.

Camping and tunneling is a symptom, not the sickness. Something has to be done about gen speeds and survivors second chances.

I'll agree on face camping. Not necessarily removing it but making the experience less punishing for the victim and less rewarding for the killer who does it.
I don't care what you believe, face camping the first survivor you catch until they die doesn't need to be a strategy that gets people mmr gains. A face camping Bubba that runs NOED should not be able to guarantee 2+ kills by doing the bare minimum.
I feel like tunneling, slugging and camping is otherwise fine though. They are legitimate tactics.

Hello there. Since you mentioned that you play killer a lot, please describe how you are going to play against 4 survivors with "meta-shmeta" Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, Circle of Healing and Spine Chill.
Game started, first survivor found, while you chase him 2 totems was blessed with "legalized cheat" Circle of Healing, one gen is done, still no hooks... so what's your actions without camping and tunneling?

Its more the fact that survivors need to get nerfed instead of killers being buffed in contrast to tunneling being punishable.

I already said that if the killer camp very close they can make the surv teleport to other hook maybe in the way back to that hook they can find another person.

You would have to do it both at the same time and they would screw it for 100%
You can't really remove tunneling and camping, so survivors have fun and killers will suffer for several months and then maybe give them some buffs. At that point there would be no killers left.

Ok, what are your ideas for removing tunnelling and camping? What are your ideas for buffing Killers? If you're going to make statements such as these then you should probably back them up with some ideas.

Does this "get rid of camping and tunneling" also apply to survivors or only to killers? Because by pure definition, survivors that hide near a progressed and probably regressing gen, are doing exactly that: camp and tunnel the gen.

I think tunnelling and camping are fine when there are perks like Dead Hard and maps like Haddonfield, Badham, Disturbed Ward, etc.
If they were to get rid of camping and tunnelling, they would have to do something about some of the maps

In fairness. They have the right idea. If tunnelling / camping was nerfed or removed in the same patch as big Killer buffs, then that could be incredibly good for the health of the game. It sounds scary because the OP hasn't explained what they mean by buffing Killers and removing tunnelling and camping. That's why I'm intrigued what they have to say. I agree with them, but doing what they propose is also extremely risky and would need to be done right.

It's not really possible.
Mainly, you would have to do everything in single patch, otherwise either survivors or killer will be screwed for several months.
Camping nor tunneling shouldn't really be fixed in generic way. Only issue is when killer decides to do it from start of the game.
What do you think will happen when you remove tunneling option in any way? Players will be even more toxic shits and there will be nothing you can do about it... is that healthy?
They will be able to focus on gens till last second and without "camping" killer will not be able to punish it.
Truth is, there are situations where camping / tunneling is best thing killer can do.
You got hooked inside 3-gen? Sucks to be you, but I can't really leave.
Your friend is chasing me around you on hook? Sucks to be you, but I can't really leave.
You are using map offering and flashlight macro? ######### you, you will die.

Killers and survivors just need more empathy ( yes even claudettes).
You always have to ask yourself whether the actions you are doing would be ok for you if you were playing on the opposite side.

I think there is no other way to stop the tunneling and camping. What would you change?

It wouldn't fix the state of the game without massive changes to balance the game (gen speed or new objectives for the survivors, less pallets, less windows, adjusting some killers' powers etc...).
And camping/tunneling has been around for 5 years, BHVR has never made the changes needed to remove this toxic aspect of the game. So even if now they agree on the fact the game needs some changes to avoid the camping plague, it won't happen for months.
And other asymmetrical games are right at the corner. DbD is in a really terrible situation now... The state of the game is totally unbalanced and most players, on both sides, don't have fun.
VHS is coming, it looks polished, fun and greatly balanced, BHVR will have a hard time to compete. I hope they will bring the changes DbD needs but i doubt they will be able to do it in less than 2 years... Unfortunately. And once players will leave for another game, they will never come back...

Once a survivor is hooked, the hook disappears and reappears somewhere else on the map, killer doesn't know where. Camping is then impossible, tunneling is harder.
I play killer, i never camp, i don't care if i loose and i try to have fun when playing but yes, if you don't camp/tunnel, you don't stand a chance with most killers.
When i play nurse fairly (Stage 2 on everyone before first kill), i struggle to get 3K at a good MMR...
With Demo for exemple, i barely have 2k and i cannot play as fair as with the nurse, so first kill happens when 3 survivors are S2 or when 2 are S1 and 2 are S2... With Billy it's quite hard aswell, same for Pinhead.
With other killers like Clown, PH etc... it's just impossible, the game is over when you have between 3 and 5 hooks.
The game needs a huge balance rework, it is totally unfair now.

For tunneling and camping?
In generic way? nothing really...
Problem is that you have things that kinda forces to tunnel. I think there is way more tunneling because of CoH. It forces you to commit to each chase and most killers can't get away with it, so they need to remove one player with at least 2 gens left...
Best way to remove tunneling and camping is to remove reason to do it. "Empathy" would otherwise mean that killer is supposed to be fine with losing each game...
If you remove tunneling and camping, survivors will be even more toxic imo.

That would be huge buff, because survivors would often had to travel less distance for unhook without fear of killer.

At high level against good players if you play nice and never tunnel you will get no kills, just the way it is. There isn't enough time in a game to go around hooking everyone in turns.

Yes, that's why everything else should be adjusted : gen speed, killers' powers, number of pallets/windows etc..
DbD would need an overall rebalance. To my mind DbD needs it, camping and tunneling is really killing the fun for both sides.

There are already DS and BT, but the perks also get used to block your way.
If the hook is gone i hook you on the next free hook or let you on the ground. If survivor get unhookable after one hook, some would use that to running into your face, doing gens in front of you, saving teammates.
Camping and tunneling is very situational. For example when the endgame starts camping and tunneling not exist.
Bad Camping is for me to stay on the hook by ignoring the gens and bad tunneling is to hook always the same weak survivor in a row.
But there are a lot of variables in there.

It wouldn't really stop tunneling.
Pyramid Head is best tunneling killer. There has to be logic behind where that survivor will go and you will just go there...
It's just not possible to do.
I don't think tunneling was really an issue before. Problem is that lately, it just turned from "option" to "primary". SBMM, CoH... It's just close to impossible to play normally with most killers.
Best thing would be to remove reasons to tunnel, so there are good alternative options. Hit&run and slugging was really good way to build pressure without tunneling, but it's just not viable anymore.

I think it's funny that you don't take the killers pov in this argument. Again you're probably a very low rank killer.
Gens are popping insanely fast which causes killers to camp and tunnel.
This strategy is for ensuring a KILL as it is the killer's OBJECTIVE.

camping and tunneling can be neccessary as reaction in some situations. But not as strategy. It's not a plan for a healthy game.

Sometimes i'm playing killer and sometimes I'm playing survivor. There are toxic survivor and toxic killer.
Mostly I wouldn't have time to tunnel anyone, because i'm already in another chase to hook the next one.

Unfortunately, developers are only interested in money and they do not even think about tackling such a serious problem.
But if you solve the issue of camping and tunneling, this game will immediately become more beautiful and not a toxic environment.

Someone the other day had a three wish from the devs thread. My #3 was three crouches in quick succession within the exit gates blocks the gate for said survivor. Called it the Karma Effect. I'd love little punishments for BMing like that. Maybe after hitting a survivor on the hook twice, your weapon drops and gets stuck for two minutes or something.

Conversely... We could have a karma system. Teabagging in front of the killer? -karma. Hitting someone on the hook without someone trying to unhook? -karma. Eventually, it would move all the negative karma people to their own queues and away from the rest of us.
