Spirit is the most universally fun killer in the game right now
In my opinion she is. I'd consider her to be the most fun killer in the whole game to play as and to play against. After her nerf, there is a big skill cap in the new mindgames that are involved. Also, she really feels like one of very few killers that have the control against the survivors in chase even though survivors have reliable counterplay. The counterplay also isn't holding W because she's very fast but it is possible to loop her, even though she controls the mindgames.
Great job with Spirit BHVR. You guys truly knocked this one out of the park, except for keeping Mother-Daughter Ring the way it is.

I've played against her once since her nerf. So I don't think so other wise I'm sure there would be more of her.
6 -
I wish there was more of her. If only people could realize the potential she still has :(

Good survivors have to much control when paired with IW. You end up getting no info and the survivors know where you are.
I played spirit the first two months after release almost exclusively so I have a pretty good understanding of her kit never used stridor because it messed with my ability to tell how close a survivor really is. The thing is speed isn't everything you lose alot of info when you phrase and have to make smart reads in a short time and as I said before if they are running IW(I see it almost every match) your really really fast but your blind and def.

I respectfully, massively disagree.
I really want them to nerf her further against survivors without Iron Will, and then in return buff her massively against survivors who do have Iron Will. Because that perk existing suddenly gives you 100x more counterplay options than without.
You can buff her in other ways after this too, like faster recharge/longer duration, but the most recent only fixed one of my two major issues with her.
Fix the issues with the power imbalance between having and not having Iron Will (then feel free to absolutely slaughter the perk, btw) and I might begin to agree with you.
What I do have to admit, though, is she is much more fun to face and to play now than she was. It feels good, actually needing to use my brain while playing her.

That’s why I think IW needs to get touched. It isn’t fair that survivors can hear me but I can’t hear them. IW is a problem against almost every killer in general because it takes away a whole gameplay mechanic.

If I may ask, what is your proposed change? Just curious.

Interesting.
I...like Spirit, but never really got into her. I can see the fun of her though (I love the passive phasing).
For me:
- Demo. Fun addons, tons of different playstyles, extremely diverse toolkit and is so rare that very few people seem to understand how he works (I love watching them waste half the games getting rid of portals that I have no use for anymore). Can be annoying on some maps with a lot of strong loops.
- Hag. Endless skillcap, no weak maps, incredibly addictive playstyle once you get a feel for her. She's also tiny and has a small terror radius - I still get at least 1 gen grab per game when I run Monitor. Held back slightly by bleh addons.
- Artist. I don't think she's as strong as people make her out to be, but dammit is she fun. Another 'endless skillcap' killer, versatile and I love her audio design. Can feel a bit clunky due to constant hitches and her UR/Iri addons are amazingly bad.

I totally agree or revert the stridor nerf it would be a buff to only spirit because she's the only that uses it.
1 -
Oh I absolutely love the Artist too. I’ve played a ton of games as her since Tuesday and she’s definitely number 2 below Spirit.

Honestly I might would use Stridor on other killers too. I really just hate going against IW that I even equipped Stridor as Ghostface and Bubba before.
0 -
You try huntress? I love hitting them hatches there's nothing like it in dbd imo. She does have some map weakness but other than that I love her.
0 -
Honestly? I haven't though that through very far so (keep in mind I woke up like 10 minutes ago) here's my sleep deprived very tired first thought
-Omni-directional breathing at 150% which increases the closer your are.
-Directional noises of pain at 50% which is always a flat volume.
All unaffected by Stridor, which accidentally got reworked at the same time whoopsies
Use the pain sounds to track where they are, and regular breathing to track how close you are.
Once more, combined with an increase to power duration and recharge speed enabling you to be phasing more often.
This is probably ######### but like I said my main thought rn is on trying to stay awake

I see where you’re trying to come from here. It could work although I just like her the way she is because I don’t want them to somehow make her too weak or too OP. Not saying it’s possible to make that work but we’ve seen BHVR fail with this stuff many times in the past
0 -
We have. Gotta remember my idea also needs them to be able to program functional sounds so... Never gonna happen
1 -
You can get more value out of other perks imo. Spirits gameplay revolves around audio and thats why stridor is a big deal for her.
My biggest issue with IW is it has no counterplay and its a equip and go perk with a strong effect. Instant downs only counter it the first time because once off the hook it activates.

I basically only play blight and spirit few weeks.
Blight is super fun to play and Spirit has nothing on him.
And Idk about counterplay, pre drop and hold W is killing her slow 110% ass. And god forbid I mess up phase and miss, then its just holding W sim while other survivors are pumping gens like crazy.
I find her very underwhelming without add ons and also on big maps.
But maybe its just me playing Blight a lot. Since playing him with Shadowborn and then switching to Spirit with default FOV and 110% feels like completely different game.
I never played her before nerf and wanted to give her a chance but I feel without at least 2 slowdowns and yellow or higher add ons, she is meh for me.
Or maybe I just need to git gud, who knows

She’s another killer that can counter holding W because of her movement speed in phase. 176% is no joke.
0 -
I've been facing a lot of spirits because of her new cosmetics and I have to say I'm in love with her changes. Vsing her feels so rewarding when you correctly presume her position and it feels less frustrating knowing that you both made educated choices and the spirit came out on top.
1 -
I’m so glad to hear it :)
0 -
It is a joke when shes on cooldown. She is no nurse or blight. Pallets and W is pretty strong
0 -
Personally I find Blight to be the most funniest killer to play against. Spirit I think is more fair and healthy and promote skillful inputs on both sides.
However I still feel I need iron will to have an better chance against them. I just don't think it's possible to do anything against a Spirt with the best headset and me without iron will. I could be wrong but thats just me.
1 -
Then why everyone is saying they don't see Spirit anymore?
4 -
Change iron will to deactivate when running
2 -
Potential is great, but it requires work to realize. Work you can put into a better Killer like Nurse and get better results. no mindgames, just absolute certainty. if you're better, you win. Period. That's why Nurse is and has always been #1.

I hear people bring up headsets like it matters. Do people NOT play this game with headsets? Why would you do that? Do survivors do that? Are you one of those people who plays music while DbD'ing and then is surprised when you get snuck up on?
So many questions.
1 -
So, basically...
A slightly different version of this?
0 -
Yes, then itll be less overwhelming
0 -
I am usually all in for reversions, but I think IW is fine as it is.
0 -
I was about to say since when. Then I saw the in your opinion part.
0 -
I respectfully disagree. I feel like Mommy and Demogorgon are more fun to face
0 -
Nah. I still can’t enjoy playing as her and playing against her is still somewhat frustrating due to add ons.
My pick for most fun killer overall would be huntress atm
0 -
Wait that was a thing? I actually never knew that
1 -
You just described Nurse.
0 -
Iron Will's very first version. It lasted until Patch 2.3.0, when it was buffed and became the perk we know.
1 -
I do play with them but they are decent for me. I find everything to be too loud recently. Buy they definitely do provide an advantage over people who don't
0 -
Would’ve preferred Spirit was changed differently. Like I accepted the changes at first but I just now feel meh with this change
0 -
Iron will needs a nerf. All it does is remove the consequences of being hurt without any conditions. It was reasonable when you had to be crouched, but now it's just a soft invincibility perk. It takes the fun out of the game.
1 -
Respectfully disagree. I still dislike her just a little less than before.
1 -
Why do you think IW is fine. Serious question.
0 -
Honestly, after the nerfs I'm inclined to agree.
Old Spirit gave Survivors too little info to go on and felt unfair to me, so I didn't want to subject others to facing her.
Now she gives more info to the Survivors, enough to feel fair to me... and her power actually fixes the parts of chases I hate the most but without completely invalidating them.
I hate short loops where you can both see each other perfectly. Those loops are boring. If they're safe enough you just have to hold W and eventually force the pallet down. Previously I'd "fix" this by playing Deathslinger or Trickster and make loops like that death traps but... invalidating loops like that... eh... still doesn't allow for mind games. Spirit seems to actually fix it by taking vision out of the equation entirely so the mind games can occur again.
I also dislike being stuck just holding W after a Survivor running straight ahead. Not fun. Phasing's 176% movespeed does wonders to fix that. Not quite as well as Blight, but honestly Blight is almost at the point where holding W is invalidated. Spirit mitigates it without invalidating it... so it sits better with me.
I don't always play her because I do love my Control based killers like Legion, Artist, and Trapper and Spirit definitely isn't that. But when I'm in the mood for a Killer who specializes at chases... Spirit is my go-to killer now.

Nurse breaks the game so no.
0 -
No it’s a fact. Spirit is objectively fun and anyone who says otherwise must git gud (joke btw)
0 -
How exactly would you have a changed her?
0 -
That’s why I included Mother-Daughter Ring as an exception. Is she still unfun assuming she has no add ons?
0 -
I would’ve preferred you periodically see her phase. You’ll be told she’s phasing because she’ll have a red glow and scream. The whole phasing you can periodically see her every so and so seconds. This way you can use that in your advantage show yourself then loop around to hit em.
1 -
That would’ve been cool but I think tracking by sound against a killer is unique and interesting.
0 -
The problem is it completely removes any sound the survivor makes and that makes it impossible to track when los is lost on some maps. There is no risk to using the perk and all you have to do to activate it is equip it and get hit. There is also a bug that makes them completely silent on the ground.
0 -
spirit is fine where she is, what you wanna be doing is abusing the fact she can see scratch marks. and yes u can argue. MDR and DCB. But, if you can fake spirit with that then yeah. they can also think about nerfing iron will to 85% so it is affected by stridor. or just made stridor counter iron will. then if they do this they can nerf spirit a bit more. Even though in my opinion she is fine
0 -
She's good! I'm working on learning her, but I find that she struggles on maps with a lot of verticality and if you fall behind with her, she isn't great at making comebacks.
0 -
I know how to play against her and I'm very good at not giving her the first hit. Visual tricks are something I'm shockingly adept at for someone that spends most of each game running around the map aimlessly leaving scratches everywhere.
My issue stems from the insane power difference between having IW and not having IW. I wish they'd give a sort of middle ground, then nerf the perk to the ground.
