As killer, what made you stop playing the game (or playing less killer) ?
We talk a lot about killers playing less or simply quitting the game, but if you could choose *only one reason* what would it be ?
For me it is dead hard. After 300h+ I realized I would have this perk for every survivor in my games punishing me each time I use my power. The worst is on my nurse when I get fatigue for free after an amazing blink because the survivor pressed one button. Also, it made me stoped playing twins completely which was a killer I enjoyed a lot.
What about you ?

Dead hard is saving more noobs than DS ...
I've seen so many mistakes corrected by DH.

I've been playing more killer than survivor. The role has gotten progressively easier over the years and gives you more bloodpoints for just playing normally. That and I dont have the stress of my teammates doing the dumbest things/deliberately sandbagging me (I'm looking at you Claudette - who stood blocking the gate mechanism while I run to the gate with a bubba behind me) and making me question my own reality

Boons. These things were such a bad idea. A safe place for every Survivor but it only requires one player to bring it while having no counterplay
23 -
boons, dead hard, MMR not working, toxic sweat squads every match, etc the game is not balanced and even the winter event is for survivors no the killer
i quit the game and personally dont plan on coming back until they fix all this one sided nonsense

I just get bored of the game sometimes and I come back. Nothing really pushes me away because all of it has been adaptable. The biggest turn off for me was the pallet bug earlier this year, I really hated that on both sides.
If one thing that makes me really annoyed and edges me toward quitting it would have to be how busted DH is when used right, and I get a lot of those. It's shamelessly overpowered and survivors abuse it to the fullest. I see it in the majority of builds too.

The destruction of hit n run tactics and continuous reduction of consequences for survivor failure.
When devs mentioned that the game is 1v1 & repeat and not a 1v4, I knew killers were about to head further in a displeasing direction ( I mean that for both sides).

I haven’t touched dbd for about a month now. I did buy the new killer and played one game as her. The game is just not interesting to me anymore despite new content being released.
I haven’t even tried the new event or even logged on for the rewards. I have way better games that I’m happily enjoying right now, dbd just isn’t one of them. The games super stale and needs a refresher personally, it’s not the fact that I’m constantly losing games I just start playing and dc half way through because I get bored super quick. I think it’s a mix of a lot of things, the devs ignorance of the balance issues, the immense grind and just overall health for the game.

I guess I was just a killer main before, took a break from killer, played survivor and before u know it I was a 80% 20% survivor main, lol

Queue times.

Kind of just everything hahaha.
I use to play 50/50 but killer has become too difficult while survivor has become very easy. My escape rate is pretty much 80% and I'm solo.
Killer on the other hand it feels like if its not one thing its another, you know? Like I get my first down after the first 2 gens pop. By the time the person is unhooked and I'm in my next chase the 3rd gen goes. Pile in all the second chace, exhaustion, and Boons and its like whaaaaat can I do about this? I play Hag and Trapper so I know I am not playing 'the best' killers but they are who I have fun with :< well use to have fun with.
I was also super excited about scourge hook builds but even that is pretty blah. The hook spawns are kinda weird. I wish we could get +1 scourge hook for each addition scourge perk we run ;_;
Survivors get fun new things while killers get mediocre things that aren't even worth running half the time.
So I guess to sum it up: I stopped playing killer because Survivor is much more easy and fun.

I’m still playing only killer and I play as much as I have.

For me, it's the balance team.
9 -
I just followed a devs advise.
After that i realized how much easier and relaxing the survivor role is. So why bother with the ungrateful killer role, especially when survivors message you after the match and ask you to uninstall?
15 -
the incredible amounts of stress you gotta endure.
i used to just shrug that off with the excuse "eh, you dont see sweat squads a lot so its okay", but when the Devs introduced MMR they made it very clear that they intended that system to give you a team that, if you played perfectly, you would only manage to get a 2k from - and that every game.
with other words, the stress level would be at its peak every game, while i would merely be able to get a meager reward from it (i know thats not how the system works currently, but thats the whole idea behind it, so they will keep improving it until this end goal is reached, which i do not support).
it was when they finally released that system (end of August) that i quit DbD.
and their most recent decisions have done nothing but drive me away further from it.
they ended up nerfing Spirit (one of the very few actually playable Killers in high MMR, meaning they had no intentions of balancing around that level) and thank god they didnt go through will all their nerf suggestions!
the Deathslinger nerf robbed me off of my main Killer, even though he was easily one of the mose balanced additions to this game and absolutely did not need any form of nerfs. he was also on a very delicate line in terms of balance where a single nerf / buff could easily tip him over to be either way too good or way too bad - which they apparently didnt see cause they gutted him and then put a little band aid over the huge fleshwould they left behind. they robbed him off his strength, uniqueness and fun all in a single patch - they really did a pretty good job so far with that.
the addition of Boons (or rather the way they ended up functioning) just further buffed the already annoyingly strong survivor meta of high MMR (exactly what we needed) and especially CoH promotes a very boring and rather unhealthy playstyle for Survivors where they just hold W to a "dead" part of the map and put the Killer into a lose-lose scenario where they either have to commit to the chase and lose all pressure on gens, or drop the chase to find someone else (who'd do the exact same thing) while the first person heals up in pretty much no time. Boons ironically also buffed SWFs who can properly communicate and coordinate their perk builds to one another, so only one person has to drop a single perk slot for everyone to get a huge effect.
and finally the DDOS issue is enough to keep me away at least until it has been resolved.
there are some good news though:
VHS is looking like its gonna be a really good game and i am very much looking forward to playing it in the future.
and maybe the competition is gonna get DbD back to a level where i can find enjoyment in it again.
PS:
i didnt fully quit DbD yet. i still got it installed and am open to playing it, if some of my friends wish to play SWF with me. Outside of that though, i am not touching the game anymore.
and considering that most of my friends quit the game a long time ago, that isnt a very common scenario to happen either.

I’ve always stuck with more killer my Solo Q teammates are the real killers
0 -
Bhvr's questionable balance.
Takes them forever to address issues that affect killers and will give unnecessary berfs to killers. It's just like why would I want to subject myself to a frustrating role?
Not to mention having to deal with toxic survivors basically every game. Really wears you out.
6 -
Dead Hard, single-handedly.
3 -
Dealing with toxic survivors and the overall stress. I play video games to relax and as a distraction; my playtime has been half and half (used to be nearly all killer) because I find survivor to be a lot more relaxed and not require as much focus and concentration.
2 -
CoH killed a few of my favorite killers and perks, and survivors consistently behaving like asswipes dampens my enthusiasm. I don't want to feel pressured to win if losing means I'm invariably going to get taunted up the wazoo (and winning means I'll get lectured on every reason why my win was invalid.)
I still play killer, but I can often only get 3 games in a night before I've had enough.
13 -
The reworks and unnecessary changes killed this game bit by bit for me, so I left it entirely.
A sad fate for someone who had been playing since 2018, but it is what it is.
3 -
I always love how they react to players' questions :D It's always rude but true in the same time.
Well from what I can tell I am 99% of my time in dbd as a survivor. So I wanted for a game or two try a killer side. I chose Pig as it is only killer I played so far.
I got a premade two times who completely destroyed me. It felt so bad I couldnt even hit anyone :D It did not feel so stressfull several month ago while I was playing a killer.
The truth is that hidden mmr is not working as it should, it does not feel like you get proper enemies, more like it TRIES to do it but in the end it will give you what's left in waiting list :-)
I do hope they will give some hint of where are you with your skill more or less... right now its just guessing.

Same.
1 -
Dh rework, MMR, COH
3 -
They are a good idea it gives survivors another objective but deffo needs nerfing
0 -
Killer isnt fun how will you fix it.
PlAy SuRvIvOr.......
4 -
Definitely not the BM survivors. I don't give a ######### about their teabagging, clicky clicky or insults in chat. I would say boon: circle of healing and the fake hits against dh.
3 -
Sometimes I just switch over to Survivor cause it's less pressure. I dont have to worry about pressuring gens, stopping people from healing, protecting my totems and doing well in chases all at the same time. As survivor, at any given moment I only really have to heal a person, work on a generator, or evade the killer. I can focus on one thing at a time as opposed to like, 4 things at a time.
1 -
i didnt quit killer but what made me play less is Toxicity, terrible queu times and terrible grind.
1 -
Me? I had to study for exams, that's why I'm playing less..
On that note I probably shouldn't be on the forums either...
Ill see yall friday.
1 -
Problem is that it isn't a Survivor objective, it's a Killer one
2 -
Terrible gameplay balance. Punishing killer for playing fair aka getting hook after hook etc. Rewards killer for tunneling, camping and slugging
9 -
The parade of killer nerfs that made them objectively less fun to play. I liked Freddy and whoops, now he moves slower to put down traps and has fewer of them. I hated Wraith and they buffed him so I gave him a try and he was actually okay. Then whoops, nerfed his post-stealth attack so survivors just get away every time. I had JUST bought Deathslinger when whoops, now he's slow, impossible to aim, AND gives ample advanced warning he's near.
I mean heck, I BOUGHT the game in the first place just for Pyramid Head and he got more nerfs in such a short span of time than any killer to date!
The "we nerfed Pinhead's chain hunt addons without improving his controlled chain" thing was the straw that broke the camel's back. It's too much. I didn't even bother getting Artist because it's a foregone conclusion she'll be nerfed (and, in fact, she already got nerfed from the PTB with the Idle Crows change). Like, the game has no consistency, and in almost every case, the killer experience trends downward to make the game easier for survivors. Why should I play a role that is designed to be hard to control, unresponsive, extremely punishing, and then have to just accept one nerf after another because a mass of survivors "didn't like playing against them."
I don't like playing against people who teabag and flashlight click and bomb-dive hooks with a loadout full of second chances to make up for their terrible gameplay, but I guess that doesn't matter. Gotta keep making killers feel worse and worse to play!
15 -
Just one reason?
OK
Developers who don't play their game
10 -
Wish the killer was the power role. The survivors shouldn't want to be anywhere near the killer or be able to toy with them unless they wanna get wrecked.
11 -
Boons, MMR, Hit/DH validation, BNPs every match (many times with prove thyself, resilience and other bs), so many unbalanced maps... Nerfs to low tier killers.
4 -
Nothing is going to stop me. I'm going to master the most OP characters and make every toxic survivor miserable, and then when they come to the forums to cry into their echochamber I'm going to relish their tears a second time around.
5 -
I still play killer but no nearly as much as I used to. Boons, MMR, unnecessary killer nerfs, awful maps (Haddonfield, RPD, etc). I wouldn’t count on any quality of life improvements coming for killers anytime soon or ever. BHVR knows that most of their revenue comes from dedicated survivor players, many who play the game with friends. Any buffs to killers will reduce the fun of SWF abusing killers and cause them to play less, meaning less money for BHVR. Buffing killers also turns away new players. It has always been a choice about which group they are OK with being the least satisfied with the game and that has always been the killer side
7 -
For me, Dead Hard and Dead Hard Hit Validation. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a 30ms ping, and everyone and their brother didn't run Dead Hard. I remember when Ruin was nerfed because it punished survivors who were doing what they were supposed to (hitting skillchecks). Yet Dead Hard punishes killers who are doing what they are supposed to (hitting survivors) and nobody blinks an eye.

...or civ!

Maybe the mmr is working perfectly but the balance is off. Showing more and more people how the game really is.
1 -
Some hours ago i played as a killer and i said myself to not play sweaty and relax or was equal to play "nicely" and 3 survs scape. At finishes the match one idiot says to me "wow, my leon guy jucked you real hard"... And that really upset me and them i insulted him like the dog he was... Anyway, the players turn the gameplay experience a total garbage.
6 -
Toxic SWFs
8 -
Boon totems 1000%, Before killer hexes were so OP they could only exist one and then be clensed. But somehow survivors can just reboon as much as they like and it doesn't even break the totem? are you kidding me?
8 -
I have been playing Jenshin Impact so much and coming back to killer while being rusty is way more annoying than just queueing for survivor. Once I get back to DBD as a main game, I will be back to killer 90% of the time.
1 -
I wouldn’t mind if if killer was to break the totems or if the killer snuffs it the boon will be on cool down can’t can’t be relit for a few seconds
1 -
Broken hit validation.
Rewind dead-hard.
Huge maps + boon totems.
VHS private beta access.
3 -
Being forced to play the "meta" rather it be by the Killers played or the Builds used
I don't use DH (or any exhaustion Perks)... Cause i don't want to be Exhausted for 40+ seconds
I don't use Iron Will (Even though I have been thinking about adding it)... cause i feel better for not using that perk
I do use BT... cause it's a Team Perk (I have been thinking of replacing it with We'll Make It... But who stays around after being Unhooked)
I don't use DS... cause I know I'm going to miss that Skillcheck at some point (I have thought about adding it to my build but It's full... LOL)
I do use Kindred and Stakeout... For team knowledge and Killer Knowledge plus hitting multiple Great Skillchecks feel good
And on the Killer side...
I do use Corrupt... Cause I want a chase to start before a Gen gets done (Bad Word) it
I don't use BBQ & Chilli... Cause I know that Shadowstep is in the game (I know that there are other perks and things to Counter BBQ but That's when I stopped
I use Whispers... Cause knowing that I am close to a Survivor is worth more then looking for a Survivor that might not be there
I don't use Pop... Cause i don't like the time wasted on kicking the Gens
2 -
SWF with all meta perks being too strong for 99% of Killers to deal with
1 -
If I had to pick a single reason hmm...It's like playing a game of Halo, you vs 4 other people, you start with a plasma pistol, can't pick up any other weapons or grenades and they start with 4 rocket launchers and sniper rifles, would you find that fun? I sure don't.
